I've been with Charles Schwab for a long time. I'm talking for a very long time. One of the reason's I've been with them for such a long time is because my dad started me investing since I was younger with Charles Schwab and I never left them. Some of the reasons to be with them are below. I broke down some advantages and some disadvantages. The disadvantage has a easy fix if you ask me. First time visit at this location and meet by a very helpful representative, Noe. Helped with a check deposit and gold medallion transaction. Worked with the correct department to ensure they had all the right paperwork. So pleased! There's also validated parking at the Davies Pacific Center, a real plus in this area. read more

Charles Schwab has been my stock brokerage since... basically this year. Started with Scottrade which was acquired by TD Ameritrade, which was recently acquired by Charles Schwab. With almost everything being done online or over the phone, there's not a whole lot of need to go to the office. Though there are times when having face to face interactions and direct communication is much more better. This new Charles Schwab office is located along Bishop Street, right before Queen Street at the street level of the Davies Pacific Center. This building has a parking garage, but not sure if there's validation. If not, there's metered parking around. The newly constructed office is super clean, bright, and welcoming, of course. I had an issue that just needed better clarification because communicating through emails and phone calls (which you need to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT) was just not getting anything done. The time zone was an issue, and some people just don't have phone voices (and Aloha spirit). Luckily the team at Charles Schwab were very helpful and patient. The receptionist was exceptional. Friendly, kind, patient, and very helpful in getting the assistance I needed. Their team helped me double check everything to make sure all documents were filled correct and all supporting documents were included. Needlessly to say, everything went smoothly. I'm glad this office is here with an amazing team to guide and assist me in making sure the process is done right the first time. read more

This has been my primary broker for years! I love the fact that they have an actual branch in Hawaii unlike most of the other online brokers. There is usually never a long wait for customer service although it can get busy sometimes. Service here has been very consistent. Parking in the building is easy and you have a grace period of 20 minutes. read more

When I semi retired to West Palm Beach, Florida in late 2000, I consolidated all my accounts to Charles Schwab because there were no minimum purchase fees, inactivity fees or IRA fees. I still remember Tracy, the financial consultant at Charles Schwab in Palm Beach. She was very patient and took care of all exit fees when I transferred my funds to Schwab. It is now over 15 years later and I am still with Charles Schwab because of their outstanding customer service. They have a local branch downtown that validates your parking. If you need to meet with a consultant, simply call a day or two in advance and you are able to speak with a licensed financial consultant for no additional fee. They also have a very cool Keurig, pod type coffee machine and bottled water in the lobby that is all complimentary. Strongly recommended! Schwab had been exceptional with its customer service until a recent incident in which I was sold a managed portfolio which claimed to have its management fees tied to performance, meaning no growth, no fees. Well, not only did this portfolio underperform but Schwab took out nearly $1,000 in management fees. It took me months to address this between the local branch and the mainland offices and it is still not fully resolved. The salesperson who sold me the fund has left the company and the new office manager in Honolulu has been very unresponsive and irresponsible--repeatedly not following up when he promised to. Customer service is horrible. I have been trying to make a change to my mom's trust account for the last year. Reps on the phone have given wrong information, lost submitted documents and I have had to resubmit documents and had to pay for notary multiple times due to wrong information provided. read more

Really good company if you want to invest on your own, or they have qualified staff to guide you to what level you help to. Meaning,pick how much help you want. or perhaps need. Website very efficient and you can always get 24/7 help via their national phone line (808 435-4000) . When something goes awry in placing online trades, which is the least expensive way to trade equities, Schwab representative always very, very helpful and polite. Advice on IRA's, Roth IRA's, 401's: these guys will give you knowledgeable advice and will find answers if they must defer to someone else in company. I trust these guys. read more

Called the local number before heading down to the Scwab Honolulu office for a notary. Person who answered (got routed to the mainland) said they would do it. Get there and they said they only notarize Schwab documents. It was not like the were busy (I was the only client in the office) but it was not a service they could offer or make an exception. But it was their error for telling me that they would do it in the first place and wasting my time. read more
