It seems the local branch was not knowledgeable enough to know there is an entire department in banks and investment firms dealing solely with helping survivors handle the transfer of wealth. My advice is to deal with the contacts on the website. There is a department that handles accounts of the deceased. As far as investing I have little trust for any broker and make my own investment decisions. I have very little contact with a branch office. Never have and never will deal with the TN office if they are as rude and incompetent as some have mentioned in this thread.

Started the process for a Heloc in March. I had to constantly send emails asking for an update on…read moreprogress and expected closing date. Many times I had to copy the bank president, Harold, in order to get an answer. Constant unexplained delays. At one point the loan officer stated our house was too new to have a desk appraisal. (built in 2007???) Later , she admitted she had sent the wrong address to the underwriter. So many times we were completely frustrated. FINALLY got a closing date in June, only to discover the entire loan package was done in the wrong address and we had to resign. We are in the middle of July and still have not received information as to how to pay and are in the process now, after multiple emails back and forth, of trying to create a profile to the portal. Which, for some reason, will let me create one (I'm not on the loan) but not my husband(loan is in his name). Let me say, I am a realtor and I have recommended Bank of Bartlett for Mortgages to my clients for years. I will continue to do that as long as Vivian Smith is there. She is WONDERFUL. Also, Chris and Harold were helpful and always responded to my requests and concerns. This personal experience, though, has been beyond disappointing and I will NEVER use them for myself again or recommend to friends or cliets they use them for any other reason than a first mortgage.
