I have found many reasons to enjoy going to the dentist office since choosing Lifetime Smiles. Got my evaluation and aligners sent with a treatment plan of 15 weeks. I realize a refinement or two is likely, however it took at least 5 or 6 refinements, several of which had the same issue: My bite was consistently messed up the SAME WAY. My front teeth would connect and my molars would not, so chewing was extremely challenging. I don't know why it was always the same issue, but after several refinements then two of my front teeth were connecting uncomfortably. I still feel it wasn't resolved entirely but by this point it was clear they weren't going to change it with all the pushback I got when I brought it up. So now I still have a messed up bite. I was seeing Dr. Mc Donald until she retired, but got switched to Dr Milakis, who doesn't listen to patient concerns. I brought up the ongoing issue on the last few appts and he told me they "lined up correctly and there wasnt anything more he would change." Yet here I am stuck with an uncomfortable bite but he didn't care because it looked correct. Now it's something I have to live with. And I was told I still owed $1000 on treatment in Sept 2025 as I was ordering my retainers, and told they wouldn't order them without payment. So it's taken nearly two and a half YEARS and cost far more than estimated. I called insurance and they never even got a pre-authorization. I think a lot of this mess could have been avoided if they had bothered to do so and gotten an actual number from Delta, who only covered $1000. Trying to untangle the billing to understand their bookkeeping is a nightmare. One estimate has insurance estimated at $1500, another at $2000, neither of which were accurate. In the end, I am stuck with $1000 more than planned, and could have been avoided by getting a preauthorization and getting an accurate number from the beginning. Bottom line, avoid this place. You'll spend more time and money than they estimate and still be unhappy with the results.

A stranger because you're new to this area? Not only a doctor but a dentist doctor who's sure to cause pain ? AAUUGGHH! Go visit Dr. David Bainer, say friends ! So very reluctantly, I follow their advice ! I shuffle half-heartedly up to the front door of his office, not at all looking forward to what lies beyond. But then, I'm pleasantly surprised by the very welcoming receptionist, Lina. OK, I feel better already! Then comes Medical Assistant, "Bailey" who instantly charms and engages me about Dr. Bainer and what lies ahead today as she escorts me into the inner chamber. Clearly, Bailey loves her job and respects Dr. Bainer, settling most of my apprehensions. Next up is Dr. Bainer himself, and OMG, I was totally impressed by him, first as a gentleman, second as a knowledgeable and charming dentist who gave me the best medical experience I've encountered in 80 years of visiting doctors ! For me t'was a "red letter day!" Most notable about Dr. Bainer was his kindness and compassion, as exceptional as his obvious drive to deliver the highest possible standard of patient care. I left with a confidence that he would do his very best hereafter to help me and soon my wife, who dreads dentists with a passion! T'would be easy for critics to claim I'm over the top with praise here, but I exaggerate not! Everybody I met on the team was exceptional. Bottom line, Dr. Bainer will be our dentist for the remainder of our lives. Thank you ever so much Dr. Bainer, Bailey, Lina and other team members for such an experience. And may God richly bless YOU all as you press on giving your patients such superlative dental care! Yours sincerely, Bruce and Carole Page

I have now had 3 visits to North County Oral and Facial Surgery…read more My AMAZING oral surgeon was Dr. Soelberg. I am so grateful fate set me up with him. Germaine & the entire front and back office are equally amazing. I felt heard & supported. I felt understood and listened to. I felt empathy; I felt like I was having a genuine human interaction, which is getting rare these days. Absolutely everyone there was friendly AND professional! They completely humored me, put up with my bad jokes and nervous babbling & laughter; answered my questions and listened to my concerns. Germaine was the best! Super funny guy himself! I hate to say it, but he was my favorite. though everybody there was awesome. And let me tell you, Dr. Soelberg has a magic touch! I had 13 teeth extracted, 3 alveoplasty's with 3 sutures. And that was my second visit. I had an extraction a month before this and had zero pain afterwards. Then, I literally had almost zero pain at all 13 extraction sites. Now my jaw is another story. But that is normal & I'm grateful for the i uprofen. I'm not sure if it IS normal to have almost zero pain at the extraction sites, but I did not. I'm not even sure how that's possible. They truly have a magic touch. The facility is gorgeous, super clean, warm and inviting. I really just can't emphasize adequately how absolutely awesome Dr Soelberg & the staff are. They made an absolutely terrifying, life changing procedure, bearable. I am forever grateful and I would recommend them 100%! Big thanks to the entire staff at NCOFS!

My adult son, who has high-functioning autism, underwent surgery under general anesthesia earlier today. We arrived ten minutes prior to his scheduled appointment, and two female assistants were prompt in escorting him at the appointed time. When I requested to accompany him to the treatment room to help him feel more at ease, I was abruptly told by a male assistant, "Sorry, you can't." The tone and manner of this response felt dismissive and lacking in empathy, especially given my son's condition. This same assistant proceeded to review the discharge instructions with me in the lobby. I explained that, since my son was receiving general anesthesia and this was his first surgical procedure, I wished to be present in the recovery room to help ensure he remained calm upon waking. The assistant did not respond to my request, leaving me with the impression that my presence would be permitted. To my surprise, after a wait of less than forty minutes, I was informed that I needed to drive around to the back of the building to pick up my son. Upon arrival, I observed the male and female assistants helping him to walk. He was clearly disoriented and unsteady on his feet. I was deeply concerned that no wheelchair was used, especially considering the effects of anesthesia. Once he was seated in the car, I noticed blood pooling in his mouth. I brought this to the assistants' attention, and the male assistant promptly blamed my son for not biting down firmly on the gauze. This was an unfair and inaccurate assessment; the bleeding was significant and not due to any lack of compliance on my son's part. Nevertheless, they replaced the gauze before departing. I am extremely disappointed with the overall quality of care and communication we received. While the facility itself is aesthetically pleasing, the lack of compassion, accommodation, and post-operative follow-up has left me feeling disheartened. In contrast, when my daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted by Dr. Alan Shelhamer, the experience was markedly different. Although her procedure was done under local anesthesia, she was observed for a significantly longer period following surgery. I was allowed to be with her in the recovery room, Dr. Shelhamer spoke with me personally afterward, and his assistant called later that day to check on her recovery. Not once today did I have the opportunity to speak with Dr. Soelberg, nor has anyone from the office followed up to check on my son's well-being. This lack of communication and care is troubling and warrants serious reflection.

1 star review is for orthodontics only. The dental hygienists gets 5 stars. Let me start by saying…read moreI was a HUGE fan of this office for many years. However Dr Kerbs has proven that just because a dentist is legally allowed to provide orthodontics, it doesn't mean they should. Dr Kerbs made me a ridiculously thick night guard and I kept returning to have him grind it down more because my teeth were hitting. They didn't give me eye protection while grinding and a fleck of plastic scratched my eye and I had to go to an optometrist. Dr Kerbs also gave me Invisalign, but after I finally left his office for good I had to go to a real orthodontist and get another round of Invisalign to fix my teeth that were hitting. While in Dr Kerbs' care I suddenly had significant gum recession in those teeth that were hitting from their Invisalign and/or thick night guard. Here it is 3 years later after $3,000 for the additional Invisalign from a real orthodontist and $7,000 for a gum graft from a real periodontist to cover my exposed roots on those 4 teeth. But that's not all. They gave my kid a Vivos night guard to "expand her palate" and didn't properly check in with her for a full year. If they did, they would have realized the device had created a posterior open bite!!! How was my kid even chewing food?! This was my wake-up moment. We immediately stopped using Dr Kerbs and I took my child to real orthodontists for consults. All of the orthodontists told us to throw away the Vivos, and that she had no adult teeth so it was way too early to start any sort of Ortho treatment. Another expensive mistake. I learned a lot during this process, I just wish I had gone to an actual orthodontist in the first place. I guess I should be thankful I didn't try to do any gum grafting with him because he can sell you that too.

My primary dental office was unavailable, so I desperately searched for the closest office covered by my insurance. From the very first call, they went above and beyond. They got me scheduled within the hour, which honestly felt like a lifesaver. From the moment I walked into the office, I felt welcomed, cared for, and genuinely listened to. The team was professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating, especially with my schedule and the fact that I have braces. They thoroughly assessed my situation and determined that I needed two root canals, explaining everything clearly and compassionately so I never felt overwhelmed or rushed. Dr. Escobedo was nothing short of amazing. Her expertise, calm demeanor, and genuine care made an incredibly painful and stressful situation so much easier. I have never cried from so much pain but upon arrival and during the exam and treatment, I knew I made the best choice in choosing to continue my care with Escondido Modern Dentistry. She listened, was empathetic and reassured me that I was going to walk out without pain and we'd address the root (no pun intended) cause. The entire experience from start to finish was seamless, efficient, and far beyond what I ever expected from an emergency dental visit. Patty, the office manager/front desk was very thorough when it came to explaining out of pocket costs and insurance. If you are in pain, need urgent care, or simply want a dental office that truly puts patients first, I cannot recommend Escondido Modern Dentistry enough. They turned a terrible situation into an incredibly positive experience, and I am beyond grateful.

They did not accept my insurance (totally fine) but I was able to get an affordable exam. So good so far. Unfortunately thats where it took a downturn. The hygienist checked my gums and said I needed a deep clean, (fair) I told her that was not within my budget at the moment; and she ignored that and continued to tell me why I needed a deep clean. She then proceeded to tell me I need braces. My teeth are cramped and a little crooked, but not terrible. I told her that was wayyyy out of budget right now. And she inferred that I needed to rearrange my finances... Remember I was here for a painful and off center jaw.. the dentist told me he couldn't do anything for TMJ in the office, but he could refer me out. So $90 later, I had no less pain, and been essentially shamed by the hygienist. At check out she stood in the back of the office glaring at me with her arms folded while the receptionist showed me pricing for a deep clean. With the discount, it would have been roughly $1300. When I once again said that was out of my budget, she huffed. The receptionists and dentists were nice enough, and as helpful as they were able to be.
