We came to Chappelton Vineyard to celebrate our 5-year wedding anniversary and paid for the $225 premium tasting, expecting a polished and welcoming experience. Instead, the service was surprisingly dismissive and they seemed very understaffed. The hostess who sat us poured our wine and brought us out the sliced baguettes with oil. I called ahead to ask if a reservation was required and was told we didn't need one but it was clear to me that if you weren't a member or didn't have a reservation you were an inconvenience and an afterthought at this winery. When we asked about adding a cheese pairing, the staff made it feel like an inconvenience simply because we weren't members and they had other reservations. As a family of Chappell Hill residents, that treatment was especially disappointing. If the goal is to build a strong member base, treating non-members this way is a strange approach. We were also told we only had an hour and a half to finish our tasting because of other reservations, which made the entire experience feel rushed and transactional. For the price point and the occasion, we expected hospitality and care--not to feel like we were burdening the staff. For a vineyard positioning itself as premium and community-oriented, this experience missed the mark entirely. Definitely not the anniversary we hoped for and we won't be back. read more

This was a great experience with friends. The facility and ambience were great! As a new and expanding business, I definitely feel it is on its way to historical greatness and long legacy. With typical growing pains, facilitation of multiple groups and tours with guests and members was a challenge. Only improvement I would offer to take my 4 star to 5 star is below. 1. People love to hear a good story to compel them for returns and membership . Your guide was great, very knowledgeable but we had to pull it out of him. ( give him bullet point list of key talking points from wine making and facility experience.) 2. Limit tour quantity to only one group at a time. Can be a 20 min experience and can appeal to vibes of different groups based on maturity or experience)- could have missed out on people who were exploring membership vs people just having an social media hangout day. I would return and stay at villa. 3. Reception host and Staffing increased on weekend, the more popular you get, you will have to navigate- prospective members, one time guests and members experience. At minimum, a dedicated host to in each table of experience expectation and have separate people taking after experience orders. Include gift shop instructions and after purchase instructions on the way to seating guests. Provide outside staging for early guests (especially on nice days). Do to how far the location is, you have to expect guests to arrive early. ( this may be an opportunity to explain history, vision and market membership packages , villa amenities, etc. read more

This place was so cute located just a drive outside of Houston. Newer vineyard so a grounds tour wasn't something that took place however the woman who gave us the inside lay of the land was very knowledgeable. I'd recommend! The servers were very nice and I believe one of the owners even stopped by the table. Our package came with a charcuterie board plus dessert. I frequent different wineries and recently just came back from a trip to Napa and I can confidently say that If you are looking for a place to create memories with a group of family and friends, Chapelton vineyards is not the establishment you want to give your business to. This experience was truly a disappointment and did not meet the expectations of what they advertise. Our group of 15 purchased the celebration package for $160/pp ($2400 total including 20% gratuity) which includes a personal charcuterie board for each individual. Unfortunately the staff decided, without consulting with us, that they would only do 3 bigger sized charcuterie boards. The 3 charcuterie boards presented to us, did not equate the same quantity of food as the 15 individual charcuterie boards that we paid for. Everything felt rushed from wine tasting to the tour. We had to ask for the wine facts to be presented again because half of the table was not even aware of what was going on. The Tour only lasted 5-10 minutes. I can literally type all the information that we received in this review. (The machine has the capacity to make 2,000 bottles an hour. The temp sits at about 26 degrees Fahrenheit, some wines need to sit at 32 degrees. You get about 3 uses out of the barrel...that's about it) We did not get any history of the vineyard/winery, nor were we able to walk in or near the vineyards. I heard a lot through our time there that it was "more packed than usual" when we would casually talk to a few staff members and you can tell that they were not prepared for the demand. For months, we were looking forward to having a memorable girls' day at Chapelton Vineyards but instead, we left feeling disappointed and underwhelmed with the whole experience. Chapelton Vineyards is definitely not worth the time or the money. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a great experience. read more

As soon as we pulled into the property, we were in love with how beautiful it was. It's a little over and hour from Houston but we wanted to take this afternoon and make the drive for a celebration. We purchased the signature wine tasting tickets in advance. We arrived early as we weren't sure how traffic would be. They seated us right away. The property was clean, beautiful and the staff was great. We ordered the charcuterie board. It was really good. The wine tasting was good also and can't wait to order some bottles and have them shipped. If you want to spend a couple of hours away from the city, i highly recommend this place. Sunday Afternoon we it made a Sunday Funday with the ladies. First off, I am truly grateful to my sister for ordering car service to drive out, because I would have been stressed out trying to get back after all the tasting (lol). Upon arrival we were able to view the winery from afar and it was absolutely beautiful and at that very moment, I knew we would have a pleasant time. We made it right at the time of our reservation, we were seated and given infused cucumber water (no cucumbers but it tasted of it). After a while of waiting, we were ready to get the tasting started. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and personable and we loved every moment of it. She gave us four selections at about 15 minutes apart. We enjoyed "mainly" the Malbec and the Viola, both were red. However, it was Malbec for the win for the day! While wine tasting we were able to order some shareable nibbles. We ordered the Flatbread with feta cheese and pesto with honey oil. Charcuterie board, Chicken Salad sandwich with salad and hummus with pita bread and veggies all were splendid and would do it all again. Going to Chapelton Vineyards was definetly the highlight of my trip!!! We had a wine tasting at 1pm and arrived at 3pm. We were given a warm welcome by the front desk who was very nice Wine tasting; (I wish I remembered his name, but fiance also works there and that's so cute). He was amazing! Very detailed. Definetly knew what he was talking about. I wish that next time, they able to develop a package that is maybe higher in price where it will include specific foods that can best pair with the wine that we are tasting, to me that would enhance the experience! I had an ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE time at Chapelton Vineyards!! No words can fully capture how utterly disappointed and disgusted I am with Chapelton Vineyards. The Lyn family seriously needs to do much better when it comes to staffing and guest care. While waiting endlessly for our table, we mingled with other frustrated guests who were also complaining about the outrageous wait times, despite all of us having confirmed reservations. Our "celebratory" package reservation was scheduled from 2PM-4PM. My husband and I were not seated until 3:20PM then, it took until 3:45PM to finally receive our "welcome rosé," which was disgustingly warm, practically boiling in the 90°F weather. When our sad, underwhelming charcuterie board finally arrived at 3:58PM, I knew we had to plead our driver, who had driven us 1 hour and 45+ minutes to stay longer, & unfortunately for us, we had to pay him an additional fee just to salvage what little was left of our experience. Because of the shameful understaffing and complete disorganization at Chapelton Vineyards, we were denied the proper four-wine tasting, denied a proper tour of the vineyard, and given an sad excuse for a dessert, a cheap plastic cup with a single melting scoop of ice cream and a half-slice of a sad strawberry and blueberry. When we inquired about the bottle of wine we were promised with our package, we were insulted, belittled, and gaslighted by a condescending server who rudely told us our package didn't include any complimentary wine. We were also told by said server, "no manager was available to speak with us." -- a clear sign of how little they value their guests. Thankfully, Caitlin, the host, finally stepped in, issued an apology, and gifted us the wine we were owed. By that point, the damage was irreparable. I left Chapelton Vineyards in tears, overwhelmed with anger, sadness, and deep regret!! It is an absolute disgrace that such a stunning location is completely ruined by horrendous customer service, filthy and neglected bathrooms, boiling wine, mismanaged staff, and broken promises!! I truly wanted to love Chapelton Vineyards. The property is beautiful and our initial interactions with the staff were warm, but my overall experience was disappointing -- especially considering how excited my group was to support a Black-owned vineyard. My group upgraded to a VIP membership and were seated upstairs. Our servers, Michelle and later Sydney, were exceptionally kind. However, the issues began when the owner, Michelle Lynn, came to our table. She barely made eye contact with most of us and directed almost her entire conversation toward one person in our group, ignoring the rest of us even when we asked direct questions. The selective engagement felt uncomfortable and dismissive. When I tried to relate by mentioning where my family is from, she made a condescending comment about New Jersey "thinking they're from New York," which was unnecessary. I also asked about her medical background, and she refused to answer, redirecting the conversation back to the one person she preferred to speak to. We later asked if we could take a quick photo with her. She declined, saying her hair and makeup weren't done, yet she spent extended time warmly socializing at a table behind us with another couple. When our server checked again, we were told that the owner said she "doesn't take pictures with them." Hearing that secondhand from our waitress felt unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely avoidable. We also noticed that the owner's behavior made our waitress, Sydney, visibly uncomfortable. The owner was curt and dismissive toward her in a way that felt awkward for both staff and guests. Management should never make their employees feel belittled in front of customers, and it created an atmosphere that felt tense and unwelcoming. What made the situation even more disappointing was the overall environment. Despite being a Black-owned vineyard, the vibe felt very upper-crust, selective, and not welcoming to African-Americans. That contrast was painful because we arrived ready to support the business at a high level -- including potentially purchasing barrels and upgrading to platinum-tier memberships. The food also fell short for the price point; our charcuterie board looked rushed and lacked presentation. The highlight of the visit was the facility tour with Michaela, who was knowledgeable, warm, and truly a bright spot in the experience. She represented the vineyard with grace, professionalism, and passion. Unfortunately, despite the beautiful property and a few wonderful staff members, the owner's attitude and the overall atmosphere left us feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome, and disappointed -- especially considering the financial commitment we were prepared to make. My group agreed that we likely won't return. Chapelton has tremendous potential, but hospitality starts with people feeling seen, respected, and valued. Visited Chapelton Vineyards the Saturday before Christmas with my family! I love wine and visit vineyards across the globe but I'll admit, I don't really go for a lot of Texas wines because they tend to be too sweet for my palate. Wasn't sure what to expect from Chapelton but, I wanted to go support. While I think walk-ins are welcome, I made a reservation a few weeks in advance for a group of 7. It's a "quick" drive from Houston. It took me about an hour and 15 min from downtown. The closer you get, the more sceniec and slightly hilly it becomes. The entire property is gorgeous! I can only imagine the beauty in the spring or during harvest. The weather was a bit rainy so we sat inside. Again, the entire property is beautiful. We initially planned on doing the signature wine tasting but after Alfredo, our wine connoisseur for the afternoon answered some of my questions (I am very well versed in winery visits), we opted to buy full bottles of wine and curate our own tasting. We ordered the syrah, the cab, the rosé, and the symphony. We also ordered the hummus, the braised short rib, and the flatbread. The food and wine are phenomenal! I've been on a white wine kick so The Symphony was my fave. I also enjoyed the rosé. Those in my group who preferred reds really enjoyed the cab. Great marks for the syrah too if you love a full bodied red. We did the tour with Alle and she was a wealth of information. Chapelton uses a variety of grapes and not only Texas grapes. The vineyard sits low off of the road so you can get a Birds Eye view of it all. A good friend recommended I make the trip from Houston (1.10hrs) to Chapelton Vineyards and I'm so glad I did. On the way up, or down (not sure bc I'm bad at geography), we got caught in the bad storm and had to pull over for it to pass. The less than 1.5hr drive turned into a 2.5 hr trip so by the time we got to the vineyard, we were so turned off. As soon as we were seated, one of the owners came by to introduce herself and offered us a complimentary glass of rosè on the house. We settled in a bit and got to ordering. Before ordering a bottle of the Symphony, we tried out several other whites and although they were good, the Symphony stood out the best. As for the food, the menu is limited for those who don't eat meat so we ordered the flat bread and skewers. Our food was great and so was the wine. What was even better was the other owner, although it was past tour hours, took a group of us on a tour of the cellar. We learned the history of how the vineyard came about, how they cork their wines and everything in between. The tour was great and it only lasted for about 15-20 minutes. We then toured the rest of the vineyard on our own and took in the scenery. The grounds are so well taken care of, the staff was great and the food and wine was top tier. Came to here to celebrate a late Father's Day. Heard about this place from IG and my sis and I know knew we'd be traveling to Houston and wanted to check it out. Came on a Monday, it was really quiet as we were the only ones there. We did made a reservation just in case. It's beautifully decorated inside with a lovely view of the vineyard. We did the signature wine tasting which consisted of 4 wines. We also did a medium charcuterie board and my dad ordered the chicken salad sandwich. The food was really good, the salad dressing on the side salad, that came with the sandwich, was delicious. The ambiance was nice, the wine was delicious. When I saw an article about Chapelton Vineyard being black owned, I decided this would be a fun place to take my friend to celebrate her Bachelorette. It was an easy drive from Houston to Washington and Chapelton Vineyard was really easy to find. The property itself is beautiful. Outside the venue, you can play life-size chess and corn hole. The vineyard itself is relatively small and unremarkable. The venue offers complimentary tours on Saturday's during certain times. When we arrived (3 pm on a Friday) it was dead. We were greeted by a staff member who asked if we were members, to which we responded "no". (Sidenote: To become a member, there is a $250 "activation" fee which is incredibly odd) We were sat near the front with a view overlooking the property. This same staff member came over and asked how he could help us. I asked a few questions to help decide what we wanted. This individual was SUPER uninterested in helping us make any decision. I am unsure if this person was having a bad day, didn't want to be there or just didn't like us, but the service we had the entire time left a lot to be desired. We noticed that the tastings did not include ANY of the wines that were made from grapes harvested on-site. Honestly, I would not have driven here had I known that I would be sampling grapes from California. You go to vineyards to see and sample what is made ON SITE. And yes, they import the grapes and then ferment them on-site, but again, this was not the expectation when I drove here. To try one of the wines they make on site, you have to purchase an entire bottle. One bottle is $95, the other is $140. They state this is because they make them "in limited batches" but none of their wines are available as a glass. Why? On top of this, I am used to having really amazing experiences at Vineyards. Staff members tell you about the wines, ask if you are celebrating a special occasion, give you history about what you are tasting and what inspired the wine. We got none of the above. I don't know that I will be back, nor will I be recommending anyone visit this place. You go to a vineyard for an experience. If we wanted to "just sip wine" we would have gone to one of the numerous wine bars across Houston. read more

Unfortunately, my experience was subpar. First, I was very surprised by the cost of the wine tour, even as someone who has been to wineries all around the world. I still wanted to experience the Vineyard, so booked a tasting instead to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, it took a while for us to be greeted and even when we were greeted, no one came up to us for a few minutes, so we were just standing at the front area awkwardly while employees were behind the bar area chatting. The place is beautiful very scenic would have loved to explore more (but couldn't justify the price even for just two people). At first, they sat us inside. The glasses at the table were dirty and needed to be exchanged for new ones. We asked to switch to be seated outside since it was a nice day which was fine and they were accommodating, however we really didn't see much of the, waiter or waitress after that and the time between pouring was quite significant. We eventually had to go inside and ask someone for our last pour. Depending on what you're looking for and how much you are willing to pay this could be a good experience. First of all it's a hour away from Houston. I suggest book early. Beautiful location. It took the waiter about 30minutes to greet and help us (after we got to our seats) . We did have a reservation. When the waiter finally came to us he stated that they were short staffed. He did bring us wine while we waited. It took about 30min or more for our wine tasting and food. Side note the wine tasting & food is smaller portions (extreme) and it was cold by time we got it. The charcuterie board was good .Our waiter was finally able to give us the wine tasting at our table but it did seem like he was rushing because he was short staffed. We did get a free 15min tour. We were given only three charcuterie boards, and they were pretty small. As for the wine tasting, we received four wines with no option to choose -- no variety between sweets, reds, or anything else -- just the four they selected for us. The waitress rushed through the wine descriptions so quickly that we had to ask her to repeat them. The tour itself was extremely underwhelming -- it lasted about three minutes and only covered two rooms, both of which we could see from our seating area. We were only told that they produce 2,000 bottles per hour, with no real detail or experience of the actual vineyard. Overall, the $160 package was not worth it. If anything, the $50 wine tasting option would have been more appropriate because the charcuterie plate was very minimal. Also, the signature wine wasn't anything special -- all of the wines we tried were quite bitter, and I personally prefer sweeter wines. 0/10 recommend !!! read more

All I can say is READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BEFORE VISITING! I thank God that He prevented me and my family from a horrible experience! I attempted to reach someone from this place for over a week. We were going to spend quite a bit of money with them by not only visiting the vineyard/winery but also renting out their villas for 2 days at $800 per day per villa in celebration of my mother's upcoming birthday. I had questions and their website does not provide a process to book online, so I went to their FAQ section and saw the name of the contact person for the villas, so I called and left her a voicemail message and after several days no call back! I also sent several emails with no reply, so I eventually left a voicemail message for the General Manager, also with no reply back! After over a week of nothing, I finally got hold of someone...who I don't know, but I found a number not listed on their website online somewhere and the person I spoke to made it a point to tell me I was not calling the correct number! After I explained to her that I have made several attempts to reach the villa manager and general manager and have emailed several times with no reply back, I got no apology just excuses and one of those excuses was that the villa manager who was listed on their website had not worked for them in over a year! Then why was she still listed on their site with a working voicemail when the number is called?? She also kept trying to tell me her information was not listed on the site...how else would I have her name!!! Ridiculous! As soon as I got in front of my computer I immediately emailed them a screenshot of where the villa manager who apparently no longer works there information was still listed so they, especially the girl I was speaking to, could see I was telling the truth...btw, they have since removed the misinformation thanks to me...you're welcome! I was also told that someone ended up booking the villa that same day I finally got a hold of someone when I had been trying to book for over a week. I was so disgusted with the lack of communication and professionalism of the staff of this place! Owners, do you even care? Where are you? It's my understanding your vineyard/winery recently opened less than 2-3 years ago. At this rate it won't last unless you make much needed changes. I am giving 2 stars for the grounds and building . We arrive and are sat down at a table with comfy chairs and well put together menu. Our server explained that the tasting would be 50.00 for preselected wine and cannot purchase a glass of wine unless I joined the VIP wine club which is 250.00 to join btw We are not in Napa!
