The instructor provided a detailed handout how you do everything, and she was very patient with the class. Later, on my own, I ordered a marble mosaics art kit from Italy, using the skills that I learned from the two classes. Later on, I took two embroidery classes from a different teacher. The two classes had beginner students, and students had some skills. The teacher was very, very understanding with my limited skills. I particularly love to do embroidery. I found a new hobby! If I had time, I would take a class from each of these instructors again.

It's pretty incredible that most of these people have full time jobs and dedicate a summer to this. They do an awesome job with sets, costumes, and singing! It's cute how excited kids get and they often have a meet and greet with the actors after the show. Pro tip: wait till the week of and check the weather before you buy tickets because if the show is rained out you can't get a refund and they might not decide until a half hour after the show, after delaying it several times (this happened last year) and you might not be able to make the rain date. Also, bring bug spray and a sweater, it can get chilly.

Saw the Brandywiners perform the musical "Shrek" at Longwood Gardens last weekend. What a fun…read moreshow! I went with a friend, and was impressed with the show itself (more fun and hip that I'd assumed) and the performance of the very large cast. The whole show was good; some of the individual peformaces were outstanding. Some tips: You can get dinner ahead of time in the Longwood Gardens cafeteria-style restaurant, about a two-minute walk. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and outdoor jazz on Thursday evenings. Your theater ticket also gets you admission to the entire Longwood Gardens, if you want to arrive a few hours early and stroll around. The show is outdoors, so bring bug spray. Stick around for the fountain and lights show, starting about 10 minutes after the show ends.

We just went to the Moana play yesterday and we love this little playhouse. My 3.5 year old…read moredaughter won't stop talking about the Moana play and meeting Moana after the show. The cast for these plays are all children and they really put their hearts into these productions. There is something so very special about children watching other children perform. I can tell my little daughter is very inspired by these young performers. The facility is very clean and modern. It isn't the typical location for a theater but it was a good idea to use this space for a small theater where kids can grow in their art and do live performances. In the last year, my daughter and I have seen several live shows including expensive professional ones in Philadelphia. She actually prefers these smaller venues where she can be closer to stage and watch a cast of other kids perform. We spent a lot of money earlier this year to see the Disney Princess concert in Philly and had to deal with getting into the city and paying for parking and she was disappointed. Yesterday I spent a fraction of the price seeing a show at Griffin Theatre and had free parking right in front of the building. We drove over an hour to the Griffin theatre and it was worth it to see my daughter so engaged in the show.
