Having had various professional affiliations with this organization over the past ten years or so, I've seen this orchestra experience remarkable growth in recent years, due in large part to the energetic and artistic leadership of conductor David Amado. I suspect most people don't even know the DSO had a national release (Telarc, I think!) recording last year with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. (Which was nominated for a Grammy!) They're that good! The DSO has been progressive in their programming with a nice mix of the standards, and a few out of the box productions like the orchestral scores to the Bugs Bunny cartoons - performed live WITH the films. But most importantly, the orchestra is composed of first rate musicians, performing in the historic, beautiful (though admittedly - a bit dry) hall that IS the Grand Opera House. (Worth going to a concert just to catch a glimpse of Wilmington, circa 1900!) As one who has become increasingly passionate about supporting local enterprise, be that the nearby, sustainable farms or family owned fine dining establishments, I hope more Delawareans will come to realize that they have this fine orchestra right here in town. These are difficult times for orchestras all over the country - hoping this one continues to thrive!

I went…read moreto college at University of Delaware so I did come to this movie theater location a little more often when I was younger, and it's kept its local college town charm while moving up to modern times. I went to a mid-day movie time during the work week so it was not crowded at all. I decided not to buy my tickets until I arrived due to the service fee of $3 and knowing I didn't have to worry about it getting sold out or not having seats that I would like. That's the number one change here that I appreciate and that's the selection of the seat. The main reason I cannot give this theater 5 stars is because while the seats function well the "leather" is severely damaged (at least they were in #5 theater). I also prefer the stadium seating though the recline of the seats do help to limit the seats in front of your row being in view. The bathroom was pretty clean and immediately after the show ended the staff was cleaning; not much since was only 4 people in my movie showing. Overall a good local theater that provides everything one would expect.

The other two attractions were fun to go through. They have a coffin ride and an electric chair to try out, too. I recommend getting there early since the place does fill up. There's people directing it all and you park in the open grass in neat rows. All that said, I probably wouldn't go again. I feel like it's a given they'll be long lines at any horror attraction. 3 stars not because I had to wait so long but because the haunted areas were just not worth the wait. The actors were fun though, built off my groups comments and leaned into it. Ideal if you don't want to be terrified but just a little anxious. I was just left unimpressed by the hayride and indv houses/areas. I can look past the long lines, that's the case anywhere but just a little worst here. I think all the waiting really killed the mood and excitement. I believe tickets are only Friday-Sunday so no weekday options to avoid crowds.

Then the hayride drops you in the cemetery, where there's ANOTHER LINE. I feel like I spent $60 just to wait in line. We got there around 8 and it was midnight when we got to the 4th attraction because of all the waiting we had to do. We just went to the Moana play yesterday and we love this little playhouse. My 3.5 year old…read moredaughter won't stop talking about the Moana play and meeting Moana after the show. The cast for these plays are all children and they really put their hearts into these productions. There is something so very special about children watching other children perform. I can tell my little daughter is very inspired by these young performers. The facility is very clean and modern. It isn't the typical location for a theater but it was a good idea to use this space for a small theater where kids can grow in their art and do live performances. In the last year, my daughter and I have seen several live shows including expensive professional ones in Philadelphia. She actually prefers these smaller venues where she can be closer to stage and watch a cast of other kids perform. We spent a lot of money earlier this year to see the Disney Princess concert in Philly and had to deal with getting into the city and paying for parking and she was disappointed. Yesterday I spent a fraction of the price seeing a show at Griffin Theatre and had free parking right in front of the building. We drove over an hour to the Griffin theatre and it was worth it to see my daughter so engaged in the show.

What's most interesting about this haunt is that it also benefits breast cancer research and the cost of entry is extremely reasonable per person for the incredible detail and quality of the haunted house experience that they deliver. I took my daughter Ivy and her friend both of who were completely big talkers and confident that they couldn't be scared by something like a haunted house inside of an old store within a mall. How wrong they were... within fifteen steps of being admitted through the entrance, both were behind me and clasping the back of my hoodie as tight as they possibly could taking little baby steps behind me through the entirety of the haunt. Where this place definitely shines is the small group admittance, the actors dedication to making each person's experience unique, and the effects and care that is put into each area. There is quite a bit of loud noises, strobing, and for effects used, so it is not for everyone, as there are times when it can become very disorienting and chokingly dense with fog vapor. However, I cannot overstate how wonderful the quality of the haunt is compared to the price of admittance. I paid a mere $15 for something that anywhere else would be charged far higher. They do wonderful things here and for a good cause. Get out here now and book tickets before the end of the season and experience it.
