Out of curiosity, I…read moredecided to search Yelp for a spiritual psychic and came across Energy Intuit by Angela Bixby. With a 4.9 out of 5 rating, I felt comfortable giving her a try. After visiting her website, I found it to be well-organized and easy to navigate. I chose the 30-minute spiritual guidance session ($130), and I appreciated that I was able to book a same-day appointment--it was exactly what I needed during such an anxious time. Within a few hours of booking, I received confirmation emails along with the Zoom link, which made the process smooth and reassuring. According to her website, the 30-minute session allows for 5-8 questions, so I took advantage of that by preparing my questions ahead of time since this was my very first spiritual reading. During the session, I asked about my love life as well as some questions regarding relatives who have passed. At times, I provided some clarification to help guide the reading. Later that night, after the session, I received a phone call from my stepdad that ended up reassuring me about my love life in a way that felt very similar to what Angela had shared during the reading, which I found interesting. Angela herself was beautiful, kind, and had a very calming and joyful presence throughout the session. While a few parts of the reading left me questioning, much of what she shared felt accurate--especially regarding situations I'm currently going through and details about my family members. Overall, it was a comforting experience during a time when I truly needed peace and direction. If things truly fall into place in my love life, I'll absolutely be back to update this to a 5 star review.

Although it is nothing like Oktoberfests in Germany, it is about as close as you'll get without boarding a plane and using your passport. We went and had a great time last Fall. It was an easy trip from the Philadelphia area and offered much more than the weak Octoberfests that seem to pop up and disappear forever in the Philly area. The highlights were the food and music under the big tent! The beer was good, but the offerings were a tad disappointing. None of the beers that make German beers the envy of others. Like at any festival, the prices are on the high side. Everything is paid for using tickets that can be purchased at booths throughout the venue. The plum cake is awesome! Sweet yet a bit sour-not overly sugary or heavy. The other desserts are also very good. I was excited about the roast pork-but found it a bit bland and greasy. The sausages and sides were all a little disappointing-they could and should be improved. In general, buffet-quality food, at festival prices. The music was good, and as would be expected, hyper-traditional German "muzik." The dancers clearly do what they do out of pride and love-definitely a mom and dad dance club vibe to their performances. But that makes it even more charming and far better than an Epcot Center-Disney-Gone-Wild über-version of traditional german dances. Saengerbund Oktoberfest also has a carnival-like midway with rides (included in the price of admission). Certainly a plus for the kids-should you bring any. Also there is a good selection of "German" souvenir kitsch at über-prices so you can take home a reminder of the day or as a shout-out to your german heritage. One big downside (at least for me) is the "let's go drink beer until we puke" element that seems to become more prevalent as the day turns into night. Another downside is the porta-potty situation. Too few pottys, too many people waiting in long lines, and too many drunken 20-somethings "sneaking" into the bushes to release über-amounts of kidney-processed beer.

The staff hired to tend the bar were friendly. I like that it was decorated with German stuff. Pretty conveniently located too, close to the highway so you're not searching for it. My husband and I decided to take a few dance lessons prior to our May 2023 wedding and realized we…read morewere sleeping on this gorgeous dance studio located conveniently in Wilmington's Independence Mall. After reaching out to discuss the available options, we were directed to consider a group class to learn the basics, followed by private lessons, both of which were a great experience. We initially took a four week group course of Hustle/FoxxyTrot, taught in their larger ballroom. We were initially feeling anxious and self-conscious, but quickly realized that many of the other couples were also beginners, though there were certainly more-skilled participants that were clearly "regulars" at the school. Most in the class signed up with a partner (at a slight discount!), though there were a few individuals who had to partner with each other or the instructor. Generally, we were divided by gender to be taught the initial steps, then came together with our partners to practice while the instructor rotated to offer individual suggestions. Overall, it was hard to learn a ton in four weeks, but we definitely learned a few basic steps that came in handy for our private lessons. After our group class, we signed up for five private lessons taught by Tania, who took the time at our initial class to get to know us and understand the layout of our wedding venue. While our intention initially was to learn a few steps and feel more comfortable on the dance floor, we wound up learning a full, 2-3 minute choreographed dance for our first dance. Though neither of us had much dance experience (and one of us barely understood the concept of a rhythm), Tania guided us with patience and ease, providing encouragement when we needed it and incorporating our feedback and requests to build a routine that we felt comfortable with. To our surprise, we were able to learn and execute our first dance nearly flawlessly, impressing all of our friends and family on our big day. As a thank you / wedding gift, the studio gave us a discount for a future group class --- we're very much looking forward to using it for another group class!

Having had various professional affiliations with this organization over the past ten years or so, I've seen this orchestra experience remarkable growth in recent years, due in large part to the energetic and artistic leadership of conductor David Amado. I suspect most people don't even know the DSO had a national release (Telarc, I think!) recording last year with the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. (Which was nominated for a Grammy!) They're that good! The DSO has been progressive in their programming with a nice mix of the standards, and a few out of the box productions like the orchestral scores to the Bugs Bunny cartoons - performed live WITH the films. But most importantly, the orchestra is composed of first rate musicians, performing in the historic, beautiful (though admittedly - a bit dry) hall that IS the Grand Opera House. (Worth going to a concert just to catch a glimpse of Wilmington, circa 1900!) As one who has become increasingly passionate about supporting local enterprise, be that the nearby, sustainable farms or family owned fine dining establishments, I hope more Delawareans will come to realize that they have this fine orchestra right here in town. These are difficult times for orchestras all over the country - hoping this one continues to thrive!
