I scheduled Michelle to host the cheese and butter class for a bachelorette weekend and it was such a hit. She arrived with an assistant to set up the kitchen and even prepared a tray of delicious snacks for us to enjoy during her lesson. We had so much fun making cheeses and butters and snacking on crudites we were so stuffed we skipped our scheduled lunch. Another bonus was that Michelle even cleaned up the kitchen afterwards (my least favorite thing to do after cooking). I cannot say enough good things about her cooking lessons. This is such an amazing service and everyone that participated loved the event, I only wish she was closer to LA and I could have her host more cooking lessons. Thank you so much Michelle for being the highlight of our weekend activities!! If you're looking for a fun unique activity to try and are in the SB area I highly recommend Farmbelly Cooking School!

She really wove the personal elements of local farming into the experience. For the "cooking" part of the class, we focused on knife skills, which was huge for me and really took the stress out of the experience. She also did a great job establishing rapport with the group early on, which sounds simple but has been majorly overlooked in other cooking classes I've taken other places around the world. Love!

Prior to coming here, I had never heard of C'est si Bon at all. I didn't know there were places that offered private facilities to have cooking classes, or maybe I just never sought it out. At any event, this was all arranged by management. My colleagues and I came here to cook, and walked away gaining new skills in the kitchen. We were divided up in teams, to make different dishes. Each team were given an ingredient list and instructions, which were helpful. We were so grateful that this event didn't require making random dishes from a surprise ingredient, like a Gordon Ramsey show. Whew. Honestly we'd be doomed if that were the case. The instructors walked us through each teams worries. We had about 5 teams, each in charge of: rice, meat dish, pizza, dessert, salad and a side. We all learned different techniques and managed to finish on time. It was nice to feel accomplished and enjoy our creations after the hour or so of insecurity. Whats funny is that my colleagues act so so tough in corporate meetings, but for the ones who don't cook, it was fascinating to see them in a vulnerable cooking environment. For the ones who do cook, you got to see them be even more pompous than in the board room, ha! Overall, it was an excellent experience. The staff were absolutely wonderful, the venue was beautiful, it was a hidden tucked away farmhouse-ish place in Chapel Hill. It was probably pricey, our VP paid for it, but nevertheless worth every penny. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to go outside of their comfort zone, learn new skills and partake in some delicious food!

Finally this past summer he was able to attend one of the camps. After all that time and build up all I can say is... Meh. It's not really a cooking school for kids, but if you have 8 or 9 yos that need something to do and you want them to stir a bowl or pretend they are cooking for twice the price of other summer camps, then this will suffice. They don't provide any of the recipes to the kids to take home with them, individual kids only learn how to "cook" 1 of the 4 items they prepare each day. No actual cooking skills are taught. Head chef proved why chefs have a reputation for being unpleasant to deal with. I would not recommend. Since we were again not able to enroll our child last summer we hired a local chef to give a 4-day cooking class to our son at home, ended up being cheaper and he learned a whole lot more. Recipes, knife skills, prep work, flavor pairings... All the things that CSB are not.

We attended the Summer Vegetarian class. Kate gave a brief intro to what each station entailed, and you could pick one that you wanted to work on. Kate and her assistant would walk around and help as needed, and call everyone over at certain parts to show how things were being prepared or cooked. Most of the food she was as using she had bought at the farmers market. We had some appetizers while finishing up the cooking, and at the end we all sat together in the dining room for a full meal. All of the food was delicious! Kate sends the recipes out via email after the class. I will definitely be trying some of them out at home, and looking to take a class in the future. Don't expect to master any of the recipes during this class, but you will gain some tips and come away with a full belly and some new recipes. You can bring your own beer and wine, and she also provided water and lemonade for us. Our class ran about 30 minutes over, so depending on how many dishes she has planned be prepared for class to go a little longer.

Classes are out of her home in a residential area, so follow the directions she sends you. She had done most of the prep work, showed us each recipe, and then let all of the participants wash their hands and get to work. Everyone wore a mask, and outdoor seating was available for anyone not comfortable dining indoors just. We got to rotate through various stations and Katie did some of the more intensive cooking, like the deep frying. She was very helpful with tips and checking to see how everyone was doing. After everything was cooked, we sat down to eat. Boy, there was a lot, and everything was delicious! We made gnocchi, pierogies, momos, potstickers, samosas, and apple dumplings. Water was provided and you can BYOB if you like. It did take a little bit longer than scheduled but not too much so. She followed up a few days later by emailing the recipes to us. A great experience for foodies!

I thought the ravioli and the sauce were both really tasty!!! The ravioli were filled with the perfect amount of filling, and the edges were sealed correctly so none broke apart while cooking. Since I was going to be in their town in a few days and only live about 20 minutes from Melina's I decided to order some and bring it in a cooler so my mother could surprise her. I'm glad I ordered it ahead of time. It was a smooth process and allowed me to choose a few things to try on my own. I followed my GPS to the teenie-tiny building Melina's is located in. Walked in and was greeted by a big smile from one of their workers with a chef's coat on. She grabbed my box quickly from their freezer and answered a few of my curious questions. She seemed to love what she did! How refreshing! She welcomed my questions and was just an overall cheerful person. Tried some of their pasta about a week later. It was goodness in a string. There is NO comparison to store-bought pasta. Melina's pasta is delicious! Also, Melina's sauce- better than the rest. For real. I'm thrilled to have Melina's to go to for all things pasta (and sauces). I'm supporting a small, local business and it's delicious! Win-win!
