Wow!!!! I'm impressed, these people are talented! The owners not only know their stuff, but they are incredibly nice. Lauren has done my hair a number of times and each cut is great! I've gone from staight to my natural curl, and I have never loved my hair like I do now. I had started coloring my hair and wanted to go back to my natural color (minus the gray) and they matched my natural color so well I can't see the root line unless I look at the gray - that is amazing. My daughter, who has straight thick hair, has gone to Lauren as well and her cuts look really great on her and work so well with her hair. They are the best cuts she's ever had. Now she doesn't have just straight hair, she has that hair everyone wants to have! Two things I've noticed about the salon: every hair cut I've seen in this place looks really good and the stylists and owners work with their clients to find a look that is right for the client. I've been going to Changes for over a year now. Cassie has been awesome, very personal and knowledgeable. I went through a stage where I colored my hair black, and wanted to go back to being a blonde. I had just moved to Massachusetts in July of 2015, looking desperately for someone dependable and knowledgeable to do my hair the right way, every time. Trusting someone to do an awesome job with your hair is definitely difficult. Our hair helps represents us as individuals. When you look your best you shine, when you don't, that also makes a difference and people see that. I moved once again to Connecticut and I continue to travel back to Changes because it's worth the trip and I have the most confidence that Cassie will continue to do her best, that I will be walking out satisfied and shining, looking my best! Abbie became my stylist after Kurt moved to Seattle. I chose her because she once had done a beautiful job on my bangs (when Kurt was busy.) I am extremely happy with the switch. Abbie has several traits that I really value in a stylist: she listens well to what I want, she has a light touch (other stylists, I feel, sometimes overcut my hair, but it's fine and straight and benefits more from careful snips, not heavy-handed cutting), she's friendly and interested in her clients, and she's just a talented stylist. I have gone to Changes for MANY years now and have no desire to change. He listened to me and made sure my color was perfecto:) The salon was comfortable and music was relaxing :) The precautionary COVID was fantastic, making sure everyone stays safe, with temp taking, & masks if u forgot your own. While coloring my hair chatting was very nice. Changes is also having a sale with a variety of hair shampoo, hair-spray, dry shampoo, hair mousses and travel sizes.. I'm a guy and I've been going to Changes (Edward) for 13 years - possibly 200 haircuts. Edward ALWAYS does a good job and in all that time there was never an occasion when I left with anything other than a high quality, precision cut. Edward and Steven, the owners, manage the shop with consistent quality control and train their staff carefully before allowing them to work on customers, it's like a little university of advanced hair care, including complex color matching. This place has great stylists! I've been a client of one of them for over 25 years and have never been unhappy with anything about them or the place. The stylists keep up with the trends, and always do what's best for each client. Of course, Steve is the best, IMHO, but there have been times when I have used other stylists and everytime left with great results- tough when you have curly hair even after it was been straightened! And I've never had a problem with the front desk staff. They have always been pleasant, helpful and accommodating. read more

Charges women a ten dollar difference for cutting very short (1 inch long) hair versus what they charge for a man's haircut. My haircut is essentially a "man's haircut" - not feminine at all (on purpose) and I am sad to see Changes discriminating based on gender in 2016. If I had a traditionally feminine haircut that took extra time or products, I could understand. But the hair on my head is cut the same way you would cut the hair on a man's head. Changes needs to change with the times. This is no longer acceptable. read more

If you are looking for a new stylist and can make it to Northampton, I highly recommend Changes Salon. I have been seeing Steven for a few years now and am pleased with my color and cut over and over again. I also enjoy the fact that the salon is clean and sleekly updated. Their consideration for my safety throughout the pandemic is second to none. Parking is in Northampton so can be a bit challenging, I use Thornes parking garage and that works perfect for me. read more

I've been having my hair cut (and for years it was colored also) for well over a decade at Changes. The name has recently been changed to The Drawing Room. Edward has done an excellent job keeping my hair healthy and not too boring. The older I get, the more important it is that I look alive, and he manages it well. I really enjoy my visits with Ed, our conversations, the easy and gracious hospitality of the place overall. My white bristly hair is a challenge at times, especially as a daily swimmer, and I always leave looking trim and light and feeling well cared for. That's as good as it gets and then some. read more
