She wasn't only rude to me. But even the men behind in line. Telling us they are closing soon. Granted we didn't realize they close at 6pm. It was 5:30 & I told her it would be to go. She said she's not cooking anything & our only option was fried chicken. I went in for fried catfish. I said that's fine, then proceeded to yell the men behind me "only chicken nothing else"! On top of all this the chicken was very salty. I could get better chicken anywhere else Churches, KFC. Pick one. I will not come back, not even for the fried catfish. I almost forgot, it was so hot & humid. If visiting, be prepared to sweat!

As a truck driver, it feels good to find a place that offers good food and service. At this…read moreabsolutely was not it. The cashiers and the cook were preoccupied with whatever conversations they were having and then finally got around to take my order. I asked if the macaroni and cheese was good. Cashier said yes went in fact it is a generic slap together, thick cheese sauce, and overcooked noodles. Before leaving, I asked the cashier for extra tartar sauce. She informed me there was tartar sauce in both of the bags when I got back to my truck and pulled away of course there was no tartar sauce. At least I would give this dump two stars just because I was able to fuel.

La Fogata serves up some mighty fine Mexican food and drinks right in the heart of Dixie! [Oh, is…read moreit still okay for me to say "Dixie?"] I digress. But, to return to my initial point, the team at La Fogata certainly have perfected what it takes to assemble an authentic Mexican Restaurant. My mom and good friend Heather live near La Fogata and visit often. They are huge fans of the lunch portion of Shrimp Fajitas (oh, and I saw the shrimp; they are HUGE). I did manage to sneak a taste, and I concur that this is a super tasty dish. Other dishes I tried included: (1) the Queso Dip (was more Tex-Mex style), which was creamy and tasty; (2) the Chili Relleno, which was lightly battered, pan fried, and yummy; and, (3) the Chicken Soup, which was light yet super, duper flavorful. And, of course, there were the rice and beans, which were equally tasty! As for the staff, they are super friendly. I saw one other review from someone who complained about problems with the waitstaff, but I suspect they have sorted this problem out, as this was not my experience at all. Note that, besides an inside dining room, La Fogata has an outside deck that overlooks a lake. On our visit, we ate on the deck (I'm mean, come on, it's covid... I am not taking chances yet)... but I would recommend eating outside even during normal times, as it's quite peaceful and inviting. Bottom Line: You should check out La Fogata if you're in the area and are jonesing for some tasty Mexican

Although the bun wasn't as big as I'm used to, it was loaded with well seasoned shrimp. The corndog: I believe it was hand dipped however it was a bit overcooked. The 3 1/2 year old I had with me tore it up. The hotdog was huge and it must have been good because every bite was gone The things that needed work: The fries were undercooked and soggy. We got one order to share and we tossed them. I couldn't even get the fry obsessed toddler to eat them. The hamburger was definitely a premade patty from a grocery store. Subpar at best. It was real meat unlike a place like McDonald's which who knows what that meat (term used loosely) is. Would I stop by there again? Yes if I was too hungry to make it to Greenville. I would order a po-boy again but that's about it. The service was friendly. There was no indoor seating. The toddler and I sat at the picnic tables outside. Even though the temp was 93 degrees, the fan they had aimed at the tables did a great job. It was actually comfortable as far as temperature. I will say if you're not from the south or a place where you're acclimated to extreme heat, you need to be prepared to eat in your car with the AC on blast.
