Definitely worth a stop if you're going through Winnsboro (like I was) or if you live there. Call ahead because the place is small and busy (even at 2:30 pm). The large cheeseburger was very tasty and the fries were hot and good. My son liked the chocolate shake more than I did but that won't stop this from getting 5 stars. I travel the state of LA on the regular and 95% of the time I'm all about the destination and never about the journey... but in my travels on the eastern side of this great state I regularly have to pass through the small town of Winnsboro and I've always noticed that this place is jammed when I've passed and because of that I've always made a mental note to try this joint out should the opportunity ever arise... Well on 10/29/14 the opportunity finally presented itself as I completed my business in Bastrop earlier than expected and I knew I'd be passing through around lunchtime.... as expected when I arrived the parking lot was slam full and I had to park across the street in a gravel lot....PRO TIP: if traveling through a small town and you see a crowded parking lot at a eating joint take note cause the food's good! Now this joint ain't no Taj Mahal but more like hole in the wall if it was located anywhere but Winnsboro... Seating is all booths and they have 15... might sound like alot but it ain't.... to put the size of the place into perspective let me just say you couldn't cuss a cat in there without getting hair in your mouth.... Now you order and pay at the counter and they give you a number and when they call your number you head back to the counter and grab your food.... menu is located on a board above the counter... in addition to burgers they offer a catfish plate (fried of course) poboys and sandwiches.... They also do breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30.. Now I went with the burger since that is right in the name...Big John w/ cheese and an order of "Cajun" fries... and brutha that mutha was some kinda good, perfect flavor to grease to condiment ratio! They piled on the pickles, lettuce and onion and that patty was hanging out over the edge of the bun but I gotta say that everything I saw come out of that kitchen looked delicious and all the locals were definitely feeling the fried catfish plate as many orders as I saw being carried to various tables.... So this is definitely on my stop in list if I'm passing thru Winnsboro and have a hunger on! read more

Big John's definitely lives up to its name. The burger I ordered was HUGE. I was barely able to finish the burger, much less the plate of fries that came with it. I was definitely stuffed when we left. I can see why my GF wanted me to try this place out while we were in town.
