grateful for our tour guy who took us here after a eventful day - freshly roasted seafood, right on the beach, 10 steps from the water, on the softest white sand! the food was so yummy too - perhaps the best meal we had from our trip, honestly! the only thing is the flies... but you are in the 'wild'. i wouldn't not recommend or not coming back because of the flies - just wave them away, like doing your arm workout, and eat more!

How to get there? It was an adventure to reach this part of Tulum, we made a turn off the main highway through an off beat path, after about 15 minutes on the dirt road we reached a small neighborhood, then approached a security guard which seemed to be protecting the beach, we asked him about Chamicos and surprisingly we had no idea what i was saying, we continued on to the beach and there it was a run down restaurant/hut on the beach Food: We orders Fried Flounder and Ceviche, both were equally fresh and delicious and the chips were great as well, thick and not greasy. Experience: It was amazing to sit on the beach and have a delicious meal. You will be approached by a photographer that assures you that you do not have to buy his souvenirs, but once he brings it out as a label on a tequila bottle it's pretty difficult to say no.

This place is truly paradise! I almost don't want to review to keep it secret;) the ceviche was to die for (lobster included!), the views, amazing. Such a peaceful and beautiful spot for a meal. The staff are friendly and quick. You can walk the beach and explore the shallow waters. I do have to say the guacamole was not my fav. Good but more purées then I prefer

Delicious food with an unbeatable view! We were told about this place by a cab driver at Tulum. As we drove to the location, we started to worry that we misunderstood as we passed behind beautiful villas on an unnamed road. But as you reach the end of the road, the beach is on your left and the make-shift kitchen. You pick a table on the shore. You pick out the fresh whole fish that will be your meal. Couple of beers. Amazing ceviche. Swing in the hammock. Life is good here! Keep in mind that they close at 5, maybe earlier if they've run out and they only accept cash (pesos). Worth the trip off the beaten path!

It's a nice place, But lobster ceviche is not that good as reviews say. Fried fish was better Maybe I'm so picky... Would not come back next time.

The restaurant over looks the beach and has plenty of hammocks. I believe it is also a campsite and I saw plenty of tents around the area. The food was delicious and tasty. I ordered the lobster, so good!!! I love the slaw that it came with. The service was good, very friendly and welcoming staff. The only reason why I gave it a 4 id because the food took a while to get. I plan on returning the next time I visit Tulum.

Love love LOVE Chamicos. I've been here twice now. Our driver friend brought us here after a day in Tulum. Its off the beaten path and is literally a shack where they cook fresh seafood caught daily over an open flame. The tables are no frills and they sit right on the sand and the backdrop is the ocean. You see fishing boats in there and sometimes you'll see them actually fishing. The fish they catch is served right here. The first time we played it safe and ordered the ceviche and some quesadillas. The next time I went balls to the wall and asked them to open up that cooler and show me what they had. They showed me the fish and I have no idea what is was lol. It weighed about 3-4 lbs and cost me about $30. It was served with beans and rice and some tortillas. And let me tell you. It was AWESOME. It was crispy and fried and you could just eat the whole thing. The ceviche is SOOOO good too. Its served with chips and this hot oil with scallions that elevated it. We were in heaven both with the atmosphere and the food. They had people there offering beach massages. We declined but respect them trying to make a living. You can stay and swim if you want and there's a lot of photo ops. Get here if you are in the area and can sneak off your property for some real good Mexican cuisine.

We are here in this area on vacation from America. We live in the Midwest, so the thought of lunch on the beach seemed great. The food is simple, seafood, presented very simply on non breakable settings that are mismatched. So not at all pretentious. We over ordered, one plate of civeche mixed could feed 4 adults. The guacamole was delicious, as well as the tasty drinks. The star of the show was the whole fish deep fried. Delicious. And the scary teeth protruding out of the fish's mouth is a bonus. The kids played along the beach while we drank and snacked on homemade tortilla chips the guy is deep frying in a big kettle over an open flame as you approach the place. But, like everything else we have experienced so far in Rivera Maya, too expensive. We spent 1600 pesos for lunch. Ouch. We thought the experience was great, but food just ok.

By the time you get your food it's already cold enough to ruin the experience. Especially when we talk about fried fish and lobster. Also you get a super over cooked lobster. This place was close to our hotel and was refereed by a local so we decided to give it a try. Also you'll have problems with bathrooms, clogged, no paper towel and soap for hand washing. I don't know about all the fake reviews but lobster is 600 pesos and fried fish is 250 pesos. Maybe because of the high season. Will not come back.

You must have the fried whole fish. It's delicious. Be sure to poke around the cooking area and see how the cooking goes down. Personally I'll eat just about anything that's friend in a huge cauldron of fire-heated oil - but that's just me...

I would give this place 4.5 stars (5 for environment/atmosphere and 4 for food). The food is on the pricier side for Tulum, but not surprising given its location in one of the more secluded bays with luxury villa rentals. We came and had fish ceviche, shrimp quesadilla, fried whole fish, and guacamole with beer and fresh coconut water straight from the coconut. The star was definitely the fish ceviche. They gave us a massive portion and the fish was very fresh with the perfect amount of tang and acidity from the lime juice and fresh tomatoes. The shrimp quesadilla was also very good. I did not enjoy the fried fish. It was rather dry and salty, and it was pretty small. I feel like we spent the whole time picking the bones out of the fish with very little meat. It was also quite bland with not much flavor other than salt, and tasted like it was fried for a bit too long. The guacamole was delicious, also was given a pretty generous portion. The fresh coconut was great! One of my favorite things to do in Mexico is to drink coconut water right out of the coconut, although coconuts here are pricier than elsewhere. The best part of this place is it's location. It's at the very end of a secluded bay that is frequented by both tourists and locals. The restaurant consists of beach furniture underneath the shade of palm trees with the most beautiful and serene beach in front of it. It was truly one of the most beautiful beaches we visited in Tulum, with warm crystal waters and not too crowded with tourists. There's also a family (mother and sons) who does massages on the beach next to the restaurant which we had do try. They were extremely friendly and gave great, very professional massages and threw in hot stones for free! It was the perfect location to get a massage, and much cheaper than other establishments (hotels or spas) where you can get a similar type of massage. You could hear the waves crashing around you during the massage, and would feel a breeze every so often. A man would walk by with incense as well every so often. I highly recommend coming here, getting a massage, and finishing it with a nice meal and relaxation on the beach.
