Hair cut and styling was $50, I normally go the cheaper route but I'm glad I went the more expensive route for this dramatic hair change. She gave me some tips for curling my hair. I was recommended to come here by my sister in law and I know a couple of other people who have gone to her and all have had good things to say. Vince squeezed me in and started with a great wash followed by an even better cut. I've had a few cuts where it feels like they cut straight across and call it good. This was a real old school very detailed cut. He paid attention to what I requested and executed it perfectly. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.

My stylist was very attentive, professional and disclosed all the charges related to my service before hand. My issue is with the salon itself. When I proceeded to pay, I realized there was a $9 charge for using a card. I had never seen that at a salon before. I wouldn't have mind leaving that in addition to the tip I left for my stylist, because she was the one who did my service, but a charge for a card fee, that's definitely not the norm. I would love coming back to her, but hope they revise this practice.
