I can't speak for others who hired Venator to do other types of work which may be totally different…read morethan the work I required. I hired Venator to install a 4" channel drain that was to replace an original 28 year old 1" drain that was no longer adequate to collect heavy rains and move it away from my patio. While Venator's proposal seemed to be promising to provide a much needed improvement, the end results were a big disappointment. A concrete opening had to be cut in order to receive the new Spee-D Channel drain along a 25' section of my concrete patio, but they cut the opening too small. They proceeded to trim the Spee-D Channel on the bottom to make it fit into the undersized opening, which compromised the integrity of the plastic channel and wasted time focusing on the retrofitting process. All they had to do was to cut an additional 2-3" strip from the concrete and the drain would have dropped into place as the instructions suggested. After numerous attempts to inform the owner, who refused to visit the site to inspect the work, he insisted the job was being done by "Industry Standards". His main communication was via Text. I kept him informed of the shoddy workmanship with the hopes he would come by to see for himself. That was not on his agenda, even after expressing my dissatisfaction with the job as it was proceeding. I was not given a dedicated day for the work to be done. It seemed like my job was fitted in after the workers finished on a previous job. The two workers showed up at 6pm on day one and worked until 8:30pm. Not being able to finish, they had to return the next day at 3pm and worked until 8pm. The two worked hard doing their job but it seemed like this was an exploration, not a familiar experience for them. The left photo is what the installation should look like if done correctly and the right photo is what was installed, after having to cut the bottom flange on the channel drain to force it into the opening in the ground. Unfortunately, you never know what results you will get from a vendor until the job is completed. I am sorry I hired Venator for this job and I do not recommend him for this type of work.

There was little to no lifting completed, and some areas of the concrete still have rough surfaces. As a result, certain cracks were left untreated because those areas were no longer included in the updated diagram. Communication overall was lacking. I had to follow up myself to get an estimated time of arrival, rather than being proactively informed. When Skip replaced my front concrete porch he added some type of colorant which wound up drying to…read morean uneven mess. There was also an area by the front door that was an uneven concrete mess with big gaps between the brick and concrete. He came out to attempt to fix these issues . He advised me that I should just have the concrete painted to cover up the uneven color, which will result in more money out of pocket for me, to cover up shoddy work He claims he "fixed" the uneven area by the door. It now looks worse, with different color, texture and a raised area. I have had painters in to look at painting the concrete. They have expressed concern that the "fix" in the front will likely look worse when painted, much like a big drywall patch would look if not smoothed and sanded. I reached out to Skip about trying to rectify this problem area and he just said "Sorry". Claims he did all could do. I'm now stuck with additional expenditures to attempt to correct a giant eyesore in the middle of my entry

Our price was far less than other estimates, and when they were done they actually did more and charged us a little less than the estimate because of some minor delays. They also got out and did it very soon after we told them we wanted their services. Many others had long waits before they could get to our job. They did additional services like a nicer than expected cleanup and addition of pine straw where they had to bring their machines and people between the houses. They got us pine bark where they had dug in to the ground and it was bare. They also did several French drains we didn't expect with the estimate. The reason others didn't want the job was because it is very narrow between the houses. They said they couldn't get their equipment through. Even the demo required a lot of manual labor to remove concrete blocks from the prior retaining wall and blocks from the prior patio because of the narrow area between the homes. Paul's crew found a way instead of a way out of taking on the job. It was hard work, and they did it quickly and efficiently. Our patio looks fantastic and the wall is perfect.
