I just had a generator installed by Chamberlin Electric. I was given a guesstimate of possibly 12 weeks which turned into 20. In these post covid times, I didn't feel that was unusual. I have been kept informed throughout the process and today it was completed. Everything has been tested and working and we are so relieved to know that we now have a dependable alternate source of power we can rely on when we lose power. It's one thing to be without electricity for lights and/or heat but quite another to be without water because we have a well. I am very pleased with Chamberlin Electric. In April of 2022 I purchased a Generac generator from Chamberlin Electric. The salesman said they had our unit in stock and it would be installed within 6 weeks. I figured these were tough times so I didn't push it over the summer. At summers end I did start to become concerned and started calling an unresponsive installation and service representative. I finally got unit installed but can't get final inspection, because proper permits not pulled to BEGIN gas work, but it was done anyway. What now? I was promised plumber, inspector and representative would be here at 7 am today (Dec.7 2022). No show. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Chamberlin Electric installed a generator at my home. It did not work properly the first time power was lost. It was supposed to provide power to my bedroom but it did not. I contacted them by phone and email asking that they send the installers back to fix. I even spoke and emailed the owner of the company, Rick Chamberlin, on numerous occasions. He promised he would send Keith, the installer,back to complete the work that was not done correctly. Rick and others at Chamberlin have stopped responding to my emails. A hurricane is expected in my area on Sunday. Today is Friday and no one has come from Chamberlin to fix what was not done correctly. I purchased a 16 kw. Generac generator in November of 2020 through Chamberlin as they were the contractor Generac directed me to. The installation was supposedly complete on 11 December 2020. The Wiring Inspector inspected on 23 December 2020 and found code violations so would not sign off on the permit. I have been calling them numerous times since February, each time to be told "someone will call you next week", "someone will call you tomorrow". Never a return call. I called Generac on 23 April 2021. The representative called Chamberlin and was told someone would call me later in the day.. Nothing. I emailed Rick on 23 April 2021. No response. I called Generac yesterday and their representative called Chamberlin. They were told that someone would call me "in a few minutes". True to form, zero response. The nice Generac representative asked me to call her (or whichever representative that answered) back today with my results, which I did. I spoke to another representative who, despite today being Saturday, tried calling them twice, both times getting just a busy signal. She said that she will try to contact them on Monday, 3 May 2021 and will contact me with the result. In the meantime, I have scheduled a meeting with my attorney's office on Wednesday to discuss the next course of action. All I ask is that the violations be corrected. **I honestly would advise anyone to avoid doing business with Chamberlin. I will have any warranty or other service handled by another firm. UPDATE: I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. UPDATE 4 May 2021. Chamberlin responded yesterday and came today. There was an additional charge of US$475 as a "change". Now awaiting the town wiring inspector's approval. UPDATE 14 May 2021. An inspection is scheduled for 17 May 2021. I have received an apology for this issue. UPDATE 16 June 2021. An additional change was identified during the inspection on 17 May 2021. The job is complete and has passed code inspection. This required an additional cost of US$250 over the original quote. I was very pleased to see Ric took charge of the situation and made sure it was done properly and accompanied the inspector for the final inspection. I feel he has done his best to "make it right". Service is absolutely the worst I have ever received from any company. Had a generator installed in February it worked through one storm and then gave a fault message. Calling the company who I have a contract with for 48 hours service to be fixed and was told they installed faulty kill switches and have known of it for months. Then told it would take over 11 days for them to be able to have someone come out to fix it. Having an elderly person in the house, reason for installing generator, that needs power this was an extremely bad response. I would suggest avoiding this company for generator or service work. Should have known they were unresponsive when it took three months and the need to call at least weekly and have the building inspector call for them to finish the installation. read more

My oil company identified a gas leak in my Generac. However, the oil company only performs service from the tank to the generator. They recommended contacting a Generac dealer immediately. I spoke to the owner of Chamberlain Electric re: the leak. I explained the oil company recommended two things: a) bringing a device called a "sniffer" to pinpoint the exact location of the leak, and b) the leak was intermittent. A Chamberlain employee came at the appointed time without the sniffer, and said there was no leak. When I explained the gas smell was intermittent and he shared the owner had the sniffer to pinpoint leaks. He stated he would tell the owner. No response from the owner. I contacted Chamberlain by mail and requested either to reinspect the generator or return my check. No response. At my request, a third company came out with a sniffer and identified significant corrosion of the fuel plenum that could result in a unit fire. He found the gas leak, took pictures of the corrosion, and sent them to Generac. The corrosion was so bad that the Generac Company fully paid for the replacement part and service. The owner of Alpine Electric in Salem, NH (603-952-4566) was efficient, clearly communicated the problem, and worked with me. This is the first negative review I have written. The owner of Chamberlin took payment and never opted to return. Glad I knew how to turn off the gas and stay safe till the generator was fixed. read more

The technicians were early to my appointment and they kept me informed during the whole process. They let me know that they were going to the supply house and they advised me to save my information on the computer b/c they were shutting off the power. They didn't want me to lose any work material. They were courteous and did a great job. They cleaned up after themselves too! I highly recommend Chamberlin Electric. read more

Chamberlin Electric is terrific and I recommend them highly. I purchased a whole house standby 20 KW generator from them. They handled all aspects of the process with the highest of professionalism. This included configuration the generator options to meet my needs, the install, coordination with permits, and coordination with the propane company that fuels the generator. Whenever I call them for questions they are extremely helpful. They provide annual maintenance on the generator as well. I always feel that everything was and is done right. Most importantly, if I have a problem or emergency, I know that I can count on them to resolve any concern quickly 24x7. This is extremely important to have a team to support you as a safety issue when powering 240 volts for my entire home. I feel extremely comfortable and confident with Chamberlin Electric. Stay away for your own good. I needed a generator install and called Chamberlin for a install. Starting out was great until you pay them. I recieved a quote over the phone because their sales guy blew me off the first time. His excuse was he had a family thing come up and could do it over the phone instead. After talking i paid them 4000.00$ to start the set up. He wanted to come out and take photos and discuss the installation. I got blown off again with no phone call and no show. The following saturday he strolls in late like i did not matter. Takes measurements and says it will be an additional 1400 dollars. I laughed at him and told him im all set. He mentioned a restocking fee in which i would not pay. Long story short i found another company by going through Homedepot. I am realizing alot of contractors in NH shady. I have no idea why there are some bad reviews about Chamberlain. I've been using them for years for both generator service and general electrical work. They have never failed to be anything but professional, prompt, efficient, and friendly. Their technicians do a great job and are always happy to answer questions, in addition to making sure I don't have to get extra work done. They try hard to keep my bill reasonable. They have had to come out here a couple times in the middle of the night during storms and been great about it each time. One time I had to delay paying my bill briefly due to a financial emergency and they were very understanding - they didn't even charge me interest. As a partly disabled person I depend on my generator and I trust and rely on Chamberlain. Highly recommended. read more

I've written 850 detailed reviews on TripAdvisor, and I'm not an easy grader. It's pretty rare that I share comments about service providers in social media, but I am more than happy to endorse Chamberlin Electric. This is a well run company with good people, great talent, and wonderful integrity. My experience stems from Chamberlin taking over a completely botched generator installation through Home Depot by another company that went belly-up. They were the complete opposite of Chamberlin -- never following through on commitments, not responding to voice or written communications, and doing such shoddy work that new customers could never be serviced. In contrast, Chamberlin has been polite, punctual, responsive, and professional. They employed best practices in installing my Generac that the previous company did not follow, perhaps leading to their problems. I've met the owner, Rick, a man who truly takes pride in his company and treats his customers with TLC (such as personal callbacks to troubleshoot issues). I've also dealt with three different electricians who've done good work, the outsourced gas technician who performed his role without a hitch, and of course Mandi and Doreen by phone who are a pleasure. They manage the office and backend operations, keep communications flowing smoothly, and keep the customer on top. To me, they've done a great job on the front line, keeping folks to schedule, responding promptly to my needs, and making my life easy -- like processing paperwork for rebates. In sum, Chamberlin is a quality company that knows its trade inside and out and earns the respect of its customer base. Five stars. read more

I ordered a generator installation package that included the generator, wiring and the outdoor plug to supply power to my houses electrical system. The date for the installation was pushed back three times so that it was 4 months later than the original estimate. I suspect that the reason they kept putting off the installation is because my area lost power due to a storm and they sold the generator that was reserved for me to someone else for a higher price. I was very disappointed with their service. Once the generator was finally installed, it worked nicely. The price was reasonable. read more

I purchased a generator (not from Chamberlin Electric) and needed a service contract so I called Chamberlin got a price for a contract and paid in full. I also set up an appointment to get my generator serviced. They blew me off and never showed up. No call. My wife called to find out what was going on and she was told that they would have to reschedule. It was set up for a few WEEKS later, which brings us to today. They blew us off again. No call again. My wife called and of course once again she was told they would have to reschedule. Total incompetence. Next step is to recover my money and go somewhere else. What do you think? I called them to evaluate a house generator in a home I had just bought. They came out and decided it needed to be replaced. They sent another guy a few days later to go through the house which he did. I was told I'd get an estimate in a week. That estimate never came and they don't appear to be very good about returning calls. Here it is about 2 months later. I've paid ~$150 bucks, wasted some time following these guys around during their two visits and have nothing to show for it. I can't say I'm impressed. read more

We signed a contract to have a generator installed 13 months ago and we still have not had a city inspector here to approve the installation. The generator installation took over 4 months to be hooked up, it took several months more to get it to run a self test successfully, and after many e-mail attempts, they still have not scheduled to have the city inspector come out again to inspect their work after it was failed the first time. We are holding a third of the installation price, and told them we would only pay it off when this was done, and we wonder why we can't get this done. We have to believe that they fear it not passing for a second time. We are also having electrical problems that never existed before they worked in the panel, and are fed up with their lack of service. We have tried to work with them, and are now taking to telling our story to anyone who will listen. PLEASE look elsewhere for any electrical work, for your own peace of mind. read more
