Classic diner vibe that delivers. The inside is covered with family photos and wooden signs. There is parking outside and even a few tables outside if you feel like braving the water. The pancakes are delicious served with warm syrup and whipped butter. The coffee is strong and there is plenty of it. This place isn't fancy and the food isn't super interesting but if you want classic breakfast food or a solid grilled cheese, you should check this place out. I am a sucker for an old school diner/breakfast joint. The kind of place that still has silly named specialties such as the "Ladies Plate" (1/2 a serving of hash browns? This lady wants the whole thing!) or the "Weight Lifter's Special" which includes a beef patty, salad and fruit cup. I did not have either of those items, but I did have the Hash brown Omelette, which is just what it sounds like, and also includes cheddar cheese. It works, so much so that I cleaned my plate, which I almost never do with a large breakfast platter. I had mine with the fresh fruit cup. Spouse had the potato pancakes, which aren't like the kind we are used to, but he really liked them (more pancake-ish). The coffee was classic diner, which is to say it was awful. But that's just part of the experience. The young waitstaff was hustling, doing it and doing it well. Classic diner decor (ie. Booths, tables and chairs, a funky old building with no recent renovations in sight) are what I want and what you get a Chace's). The last I read this place has been in the Chace family since opening in 1958 and they have kept everything about it fairly original. Which is how we like it! read more

For three people our breakfast was $80 plus tip. I don't think we ordered anything to crazy. The food was decent. The place reminds of me a diner type vibe. My son ordered pancakes and someone who isn't a fan of pancakes typically, this place reminded me why I'm not. Kinda mushy in the middle, not a lot of flavor. I ordered corn beef hash and it was a-okay. Nothing to write home about, but definitely the best thing I had. The man ordered sourdough pancakes which I liked even less than the regular pancakes. Where his meal got expensive was he had to add on eggs, sausage and it didn't make any sense why the sides cost so damn much. The service was nice. They made sure we had enough coffee. Our food came out pretty fast. We left feeling okay about experience but just in sticker shock for the price of breakfast. Maybe coming from the southern east coast, where we could easily go out for breakfast for half than that , made me feel some type of way. This is the cutest little place to have a nice simple breakfast! The outside looks like a little house - very cozy and just adorable on the outside. Parking is a bit tight so be prepared for that. They dont have a ton of seating so we went on a weekday to avoid the large crowds or any wait time. This isnt a bad thing- just doing my best to give an accurate description- they are a bit bigger than what you would get at a fast food place in terms of the width and thickness. If you are looking for like a pillow and fluffy pancake these are not those type. These were more soft and flat with the center being more of a moist texture. So if you are looking for like huge thick pillow like pancakes these are not the type. Staff was super nice. Straight forward and to the point with the food. The inside is really cute too! This place looks like it has been here for eons and they have indoor and outdoor dining. We waited for a few minutes and then were seated inside. I ordered the corned beef hash with eggs and toast and hubby and sister ordered the hamburger patty with potato pancakes and salad. Coffee also hit the spot. This place is really authentic and the portions are big. However, it can get really hot in this tiny restaurant. Don't stress if you don't fit in their tiny lot since there is an open park-n-ride lot right next door. I ordered the blueberry pancakes with compote and hash brown omelet. I liked the pancakes even though they were a little dense but I wasn't a fan of the hash brown omelet. I ordered it with extra cheese and there was still almost no cheese except on top. Instead, it was all potato with 2-3 eggs and no meat. I am not giving up on this place because my mom and her good friend eat here regularly and love it. I am wondering if I just came on the wrong day or ordered the wrong items from the menu. I spent about thirty dollars on breakfast so that I could try more than one menu item and I had to give the food a 7 out of 10. read more

The place to go when you wake up early and want to have some delicious carb for breakfast. I admit the parking could be a problem but it was okay at 10 am on Saturday. You gotta go inside and put your name on the waitlist. (Not sure if you can put your name by phone) We, 4 ppl, waited for around 10 minutes. Servers were very kind and friendly. The place felt cozy and homey. Food? It's not fancy but simple and tastes amazing. All the foods we ordered - from pancakes, omelette, and egg benedict, were pleasing. You can choose whatever pancakes you want for the side pancake with additional charge. I highly recommend swedish pancake. I gotta say it's the best brunch place in Bellevue. Most of the reviews that I looked at for this place are way off. I ordered a waffle and it was about a 1/3 of the height of the pancake. I'm really not sure how they were able to make the waffle marks because it was so thin. It was a complete joke. That's NOT a waffle. I'll upload pics. I just looked at it when she sat it down because I couldn't believe how thin it was. The chocolate chips were as thick as the waffle! I ate about half of it and had to stop due to the chocolate syrup on top. It was sickening sweet. The bacon on the other hand was fantastic so they got another star. It was thick and crispy. The pancakes were normal sized with no flavor. The "maple syrup" was just sugar water syrup. It was obviously fake maple syrup with no flavor. The water was poured into the smallest glasses I've ever used for actual drinking. They were about twice of the size of a shot glass. I guess free water isn't going to work here. It's a hole in the wall restaurant but they aren't owning it. In other words, you can be a hole in the wall but you have to serve great food. On top of the bad food, that light breakfast cost $40! I don't mind paying for food but it was to be edible. The crazy part of this trip was the parking. I totally planned on ripping them about the joke of a parking lot and just assumed the food would be great but that's not the case. If you pull into the parking lot, don't drive past the restaurant. There are only 3 spots in the back and it's tight so you'll have to turn around. If you don't see any spots in front of the dry cleaners then you have to park in the dirt, mud hole lot to the South. As we waited for a seat outside (because they won't let you wait inside), we watched car after car drive to the back then to the dry cleaners before leaving. You won't find 1 sign that tells you where you're supposed to park. It's absolutely insane. When you wait, they won't let you sit on the bench inside the restaurant. Why? I have no idea. They're acting like we are in the first few months of Covid but look over at the kitchen and you'll see that none of the cooks are wearing masks. I have no issue with them not wearing masks. I have issue with the made up rules then forcing people outside in the rain. read more

Service: Came here on a Sunday afternoon and was welcomed by friendly customer service and a 3 min wait time. Our waitress was so sweet! She talked to us like we were old time friends or family, not like people she was just trying to squeeze a tip out of! She always made sure we were taken care of, gave recommendations, and was just a vibrant personality! Food: the food is standard breakfast fare, nothing frilly. The portions are good size and you can get a lot! We ordered coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and gravy, eggs Benedict, and sourdough pancakes. The total came to be ~$45 before tip, but I feel like we got a lot of food! The hot chocolate was especially delicious to me - so creamy and not grainy at all! Venue: the venue definitely shows the local and family owned flavor of this place! Nothing flashy, and it's not trying to be something it's not. Chance's welcomes you into the family for just a hour of your day as you dine here. The booth cushions could be comfier, but they are bearable for sitting through breakfast! read more

I went here for lunch on a Tuesday with my family (party of four). My Hubs got the pancakes and blackberry syrup and liked it. My sis-in-law got the Ladies Plate and liked it too (they did a good job making her hash browns extra crispy like she asked). Service was friendly and attentive. But here's what was disappointing. My so-called Chicken Fried Steak was tiny, pathetic, and simply not chicken fried steak. It was more like a small sausagey-burger patty with hardly any batter on it, kinda hard, and with the most tasteless white gravy. The biscuit that came with it was terrible. I said to my Hubs, it's like Pillsbury Dough Boy biscuits from the can. He replied that Pillsbury out of a can was better! My mom-in-law's potato pancakes were good but her burger patty was dry. So dry, she used my gravy on it. It must have been dry as a desert for her to use that gravy. So, there are good points about Chace's, but I can't get over how bad my meal was. I wanted to like this place because it's an old school joint with lots of Bellevue locals and memories for my relatives, but sorry, I won't be coming back. read more

Finally got the chance to try this legend of a pancake house after 3 attempts. The universe aligned perfectly on a Sunday morning because we got VIP parking AND we got sat down instantly! What a great double whammy to start off the morning. Decor is nice nostalgia and if you don't pay attention to the details you could miss the history of the pancake house. The house is a bit cramped but it gives you a family feel because the staff and everyone's positive energy makes you feel at home. The food also helps with feeling at home because it's pretty darn good. I'd say it's a mixture of breakfast soul food if that's even a thing? Haha I tried the "Eggs Nicole" over the chicken fried steak because I didn't want to over eat and be immobilized lol. My dish was great tasting and everything tasted homemade from the biscuits to sausage Pattie's which you don't see especially the sausage and of course my favorite country gravy. Yummm! My better half chose "Swedish pancakes" And side order of hash browns eggs and bacon. No surprise here everything was bomb.com! Hash browns crispy to perfection, eggs and bacon delicious thick cut with a hint of crisp also eggs fluffy and delicious. In a nut shell I'd highly recommend this little eatery because your supporting a small local restaurant with great history and the food tells the story of why they've lasted BUT be warned the wait could be killer and the parking is a hit or miss but I do believe they're is a little gravel off lot you can park at and walk over. Chace's is wonderful neighborhood restaurant that we were fortunate to discover in Bellevue. We dined here twice at about 10:00 AM after the early crowd that we were told happens everyday. The parking lot is small so timing is everything. The food is simple but done well. My wife had a wonderful breakfast wrap the first day and bacon and eggs the next day. I had the German sausage twice with some potato pancakes the second day. This was the first time I've had potato pancakes and it was OK but not my thing. It was a pancake with lumps of hash browns in it and served with sour cream and apple sauce. I was told that Chace's potato pancakes were very good so don't go by my word on them. Our servers were both friendly and efficient, and the food doesn't take forever to get to your table. I really love these non chain restaurants and diners and will never hesitate to try them. If you're looking for some good breakfast while in Bellevue, Chace's is your place. We were seeking something different that was near our hotel, and was drawn by their photos, especially the one showcasing something called a hash brown omelette... I was immediately sold. I'm always a fan of mixing my favorite breakfast foods together to make a super dish, and this concoction did just that. Not only was there a layer of melty cheese, but the addition of crispy potatoes folded in with the eggs just punched it up a notch in terms of heartiness and texture. And if that wasn't enough, it comes with your choice of toast or English muffin, too. Though the omelette stole the show for me, we enjoyed their waffle as well. It was made on the thin side, but was a pretty generous size. Top it with whipped butter and lots of maple syrup and you have yourself a winner. It's super small inside, so when there's not a pandemic, I can only imagine it being a long wait on the weekends. They do have an outdoor space and are offered on the third-party delivery apps as an option too! We'll be back for more the next time we're in the area. read more

BASIC.... I was looking for brunch in Bellevue and had a real hard time finding a good spot. After reading several reviews we picked this place. We pull up, the parking lot is full and there are all kinds of people waiting for a table. I thought to myself, this place is going to be GREAT!!! We finally get seated after about a 20 min wait, get our menus. There aren't a lot of offerings that seem amazing but we make our choices and order (the female wait staff are anything but warm and inviting). The food comes and disappointment sets in.... My breakfast burrito was child size as was my friends pancake medley. Nothing was amazing or life changing. This place has been around for decades and the only reason I think it is so busy is because it's hard to find breakfast in Bellevue. I hope there aren't that many people with that low of food expectations out in the world. Won't be back, I'll venture a few more miles in either direction to Redmond, Issaquah or Seattle. For some reason the breakfast burrito looks bigger in the pic, it was on one of the small flour tortillas and then cut in half. read more

Loved our breakfast! Since covid, they added outside tables. We had has a great table in the shade. Yes, a little traffic noise, but it was charming anyway (and more charming than inside! Lol...). We both had the ladies plate: one egg, 2 bacon, 1/2 order hashbrowns, and a slice of toast. All perfectly cooked diner food. And of course shared a short stack of pancakes. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. Only a 20 minute wait and we were not disappointed as the food is just delicious! The wait staff to the cashier everyone was very friendly and welcoming. So many food choices. I had the Swedish pancakes with lingonberry syrup, our daughter had the strawberry pancakes and my husband had eggs Benedict with potato pancakes. All came quickly to our table and piping hot. The coffe was also delicious and smooth not bitter. I had 3 cups it was so good. And our server was very attentive as well. 2 bad things: First off, there was black hair in my food, pictured below. I don't have black hair. Disgusting. Second, We arrived with a party of 4. There were a couple party of 2s and 3s in line behind us. The waitress made our party go wait outside even tho we arrived first. We waited outside, when we finally came inside the other parties were already seated (in booths for 4 people). By the time we sat down, the people who arrived behind us after us, they already got their food and were eating. We waited a long time before we even got our food while parties that arrived after us got their food. I don't understand why they would stick us outside and then serve others. Especially when we were in a rush for time. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular, just like your average IHOP or Shari's. They didn't even bring us out water. The service at Pancake Corral is terrible. Then when we went to pay for the food, and asked the price total the other waitress gave us major attitude. We never even brought up the hair. Chance has the potato pancake in the region! We have been coming here for years. Before COVID, there was always lines on the weekend. I came on Monday lunch hour and they were quite busy. There were outdoor seating and limited indoor seating. I ordered my fave potatoes pancake to go. They were so thoughtful and packed the apple sauce and sour cream with the order. Chace's is nothing to write home about so it's hardly worth writing a review on Yelp. The old trope applies: if you looking for the definition of average food there's a picture of Chace's in the dictionary. The vibe is your grandparents living room. OK, maybe some peoples great grandparents. But think I might have identified new mid-century modern design idea "luxury vinyl wall paneling." So its very authentic. And the shower curtain separating the restroom door from the adjacent booth nails the theme - mid (last) century diner. The coffee- I don't like to drink coffee that's tasteless. I was worried there would be diner coffee and Chace's didn't disappoint. Or disappointed. Im a visitor so here in Seattle surprising to be served watery coffee. I guess its worked tor 70 years and no one has complained? The sourdough pancakes were good. They had a nice tang. The price under $9 was reasonable. And that's it. No Instagram awesomeness here. Just pancakes. And they were lonely on the plate. They would have been better with some eggs or bacon. All in all an interesting experience. But you could order pancakes most anywhere else and do just as fine. Service friendly and kind. Points for preserving history. But lacks anything special on the food. read more
