OSU is located in the city of Corvallis. Very "A" typical college town- college stuck in the middle of nowhere and the community thrives on "college" as an industry if there is such a description.
From Portland you would take Interstate 5 S for at least and hour and 1/2. If you're looking for a sign that says OSU? Oregon State University? Corvallis? you will miss the exit. (Thank goodness for GPS). You might ask so what exit do you take? Exit Hwy 34, oh, the sign also says Lebanon. It's only after you exit will you see directional signs to Corvallis!!! Odd!
But worth the effort. OSU is tucked away neatly in the little town of Corvallis. You won't starve or want for anything. Major markets and stores are out there; Chevron, Fred Meyer, and I found one of the better nail salons there.
While I didn't get to see as much as I wanted of the college, what I saw was top notch!. If I had to do things over again; I might consider OSU in a "college" town rather than a large university stuck in the middle of metropolis... read more
