Nasty and unprofessional experience with the owner, Bill. When bidding the project, he verbally described a style of unit and showed sample materials different from what was later installed. The install took 5.5 hours (should have taken 1/2 that time). From a different color finish, to a hodgepodge of pieced together varying smooth and beveled framing of differing widths (when promised uniform flush finish), gapping and holes in areas that should have tight seals, a completely crooked shower door (exposing the magnetic closure), they left unframed areas in the transom which were promised to be framed, and cracked my bathroom tile, etc. CGI also did not properly seal holes left from the prior unit as they "didn't have the right color caulk on the truck." Multiple hardware stores are only 5 min away! CGI's final product was also inclusive of the same style shower door as the one I originally had. When I pointed this out, Bill agreed that instead of replacing the shower door and surround a transom could have just been added... but that was never proposed prior (as it would not have been lucrative for CGI). Upon the final reveal, I immediately showed dissatisfaction and explained it would have to be redone. Bill quickly became defensive and aggressively stated that if I wasn't going to pay him immediately then he would not leave without his product and would "tear it out"... leaving me with an unusable shower and broken tile!? Feeling threatened and helpless, I paid, and tried to wrap my head around living with the "As Is" unit. The following day, I used the unit for the first time and it leaked (seals are not tight in multiple areas). That solidified my decision to put a hold on my check. I immediately called CGI informing them not to present it to the bank until we resolved my issues with this install. From that point on I have only experienced more hostility from Bill and instead of working towards proper resolution he jumps to threaten legal action....WOW! He has stood that the only way I was going to have any replacement/correction work done by CGI was by paying in full AND paying for replacement parts (not logical and not appropriate business practice). Since we have not come to any resolution I hired a second company to replace his existing work and was told that the install by CGI included "the cheapest door on the market". The second company did a great job and completed the install in 1/2 the time, with a higher quality product for 40% less than CGI. I as the consumer did nothing wrong other than to trust CGI and hold payment until being presented with a unit made to specifications/contract. I have been treated horribly by this company, threatened, and my home has damage resulting from their install. I encouraged Bill to use this experience to make sure other consumers would not have similar dealings with CGI but he does not seem to be taking away much from this encounter. Hence my choice to go public with this review. If considering CGI for your glass needs, I advise everyone to collect at least one or two bids from other glass companies and if you chose CGI make sure to get every detail in writing (or just don't go with CGI). read more
