Mixed box (half chicken kotta, half chicken roti melt)
    Melinda S.

I grabbed some food from this spot at the awesome Twelve Talons brewery. I chose the mixed plate which is a half order of chicken kottu and a roti melt. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the order was ready in a short time. The flavors of this meal were fantastic. The chicken kottu has strips of roti that provide a texture similar to noodles stir friend with meat and veggies. Awesome blend of seasonings with a little kick. The roti melt was equally delicious. The portion sizes are generous and I enjoyed my leftovers the following day and they were just as good. This is the first time I've tried Sri Lankan food and I'm definitely a fan now! I can't wait to go back and try some more items!

First time trying Sri Lanka food and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the chicken Roti Melt. I received two big portions of roti filled with chicken and cheese. The chicken was very flavorful and delicious. The roti was soft and crispy on the outside. I was very content and full after eating this plate.

I never knew how much I was missing Sri Lanka food in my life until stumbling across Ceylon Hut! They were a pop up at A La Cart a hot minute ago. We tried the Chicken Kottu $13, it was wonderful and the portion was so generous! Who knew you could cut up roti and make it look like a noodle. Perfect amount of spice and some veggies mixed in. After being so impressed, we couldn't pass it up when we saw them parked outside of Redlight during a Saturday market. Most recently we found they will be at A La Cart on the regular. So of course we were back a few times recently. They've add a new item, the Roti Melt $13, two stuffed rotis with cheese an peppers. My hubs and I normally share one order and it's the perfect amount! DO NOT sleep on Ceylon Hut, it will blow your mind!

New permanent fixture at a la cart :)

Sri Lankan food was the cuisine I never knew I needed. This place has me looking up flights there after each meal, because if the food is good as this it is 100 percent worth visiting. I've been tracking it for a while since a quick pop-up at A la cart, and now that I found they have a permanent fixture there I had to pay a visit. The chicken kottu ($13) is my go-to, it's this perfectly spicy rice/paratha mash up that is honestly something I dream about. Recently tried the chicken roti melt ($12) that are two massive parathas stuffed with a ton of chicken.. so so good. It's a short menu but what they put on there is perfection.

I heard about Ceylon Hut on Facebook and found out that they are a pop up restaurant and food truck. They pop up at bars like Redlight, Redlight, Whipporwill,, Audubon Park Market, and Ala Cart. The best way to find out where they are is via Facebook, or email mailto:theceylonhut@gmail.com or message them on Facebook. I messaged them on Facebook to order takeout. I ordered two vegetarian curry rice boxes which consisted of White Rice, Spicy Sweet Potato Stir-Fry, Jackfruit Curry, Fresh Salad and I also got one order of Fish Patties . It was all really delicious. I will be ordering takeout from them again! Ceylon Hut is also planning to open a restaurant in the near future. Info about that is on their Facebook page.

Extremely fresh and delicious food! The service was great because he went over what everything was, I can't wait to go back!

Vegetable Samosa, Egg Kottu, and the vegetarian special

We were craving food from our trip to Sri Lanka and were over the moon to find Ceylon Hut. This place is wonderful. It was a 40 min drive from our hotel to the food truck which was much shorter than a flight to Sri Lanka. The last time we ate Samosas this good was on a train ride from Ella to Nuwara Eliya. The service was top notch and the ambiance of the food truck area is such a quiet little cove. Try this place! It's cheaper than a flight!

I tried this food truck at a beer festival event and they offered three food choices. I tried the Chicken Kottu which was a stir fry of pieces of roti, some veggies and chicken curry. This was a great carby and flavorful meal and the portion was appropriate. I would have it again!

The only downside I have to say about today is because they have a baby shower and every table on the inside is being taken up by this 50% baby shower along with half of the tables outside and I don't wanna listen to their baby shower or any other people with their children I just wanted to sit for a drink and they have taken over like three of the tables with the umbrellas and I know it's not à la carte's fault but it's really I will not be getting any food today, but I did take a sip margaritas, sparkling coconut margarita to go because I would like to try it later. If you haven't been here at this place is honestly great however, right now there's a little bit lack of parking due to the very large baby shower party inside; I'm not sure if you can park at the parking lot across the street because they do have towing signs, but it is a really nice location when you can find a place to sit.

We went to Ivanhoe Park Brewing specifically to try out this truck and we're so pleasantly surprised by the casual, charming and inclusive brewery. But the Simmer Down food was the highlight! The taco was really next level good. And the churro was sweet and delicious. Only reason I can't give them 5 stars is the fries were soggy and not my favorite. The burger was perfectly cooked, the toppings were on point, and the fries were decadent and jam packed with truffle flavor. 10/10 food without question. What made it even better? The personable, stellar service. In an area saturated by food trucks, Simmer Down is a stand out. If you are lucky enough to run into or visit Simmer Down, at the bare minimum, get the truffle fries!

Everything is made fresh, including the unbelievably fluffy pitas that taste like they came straight out of someone's home kitchen. The hummus was another standout: perfectly creamy with that rich tahini flavor that makes you want to scoop up every last bit. I appreciated the chicken schnitzel that my son had was very flavorful and not your dry bland chicken strips that many kids chicken fingers orders often are. I would like to try other hummus on the menu. I ordered the regular and it was good, but not as good as I had hoped for a place called the Hummus Guy. I swapped the side of sour cream for ranch (I am still that Midwesterner at heart) and ended up not using it at all, the cheesy nacho sauce with the taco meat and tomatoes is a great combination to throw on some delicious freshly fried fries. I thoroughly enjoyed it but I do LOVE nacho cheese. My husband's fry of choice was the Japanese steakhouse fries. Melted cheese, mushrooms, peppers and thinly sliced steak served with a drizzle of the white/yum yum/shrimp sauce you see at hibachi places combined for a scrumptious combination. My husband could not put it down, he likely would've asked for a side of the sauce because he's a huge fan of it. The burgers were good but I didn't eat mine because I was too engrossed in my fries but my husband finished it for me. Everything was a little pricey but I know with food trucks that's a reality.
