    Shopping Quarter, City Centre

TradeMeIn is one of the few, independent stores which buy and sell games, mobile phones and tech…read moreitems, it's most similar rivals include CeX and Game, both of which have stores nearby, for me this store is much more modern and vibrant than other trade-in retailers with a blue theme, it just felt clean and modern inside which you generally don't get with CeX. The location is in Leeds centre, although being in St John's it is a little isolated and doesn't get the footfall which the main city centre and the likes of The Trinity does. The quotes here for trading in items seems rather generous, although for my phone I had been quoted higher from both Mazuma Mobile and Music Magpie, the quote I was given was much higher than any mobile phone networks recycle scheme and their nearest competitors, Game and CEX. The store was a little small, so the selection could have been better. There was a large selection of more older games and DVD's compared too new-ones. I don't like their website, it makes it rather difficult to set up an order and the database just doesn't work online, for example, if you searched for an iPhone it would come up starting with 3GS first, with around 20+ pages, and if you search the iPhone name and model exactly, it doesn't come up so this filtering system just isn't working and needs work, to improve the customer experience before coming into the store. With trade-in prices on average better than its closest rivals, yet not the best overall and a good store feel which is how a trade-in store should be, of course, it can improve based on making sure it is easier to get a quote, and perhaps the size of the store and location to a certain extent, it still is a slightly above average store in general and anything less than a three-star rating would surely be an insult for a store which I see high potential in to be upgraded in the future.

Judging by the sign, this is a former Gamestation store but has of course since then been converted with the traditional Game layout, which is something the firm has been doing on a national scale since the merger of the two businesses into one brand name, Game. Inside the store, it is pretty much easy to navigate, like pretty much any Game store yet there still seemed to be a huge emphasis on pre-owned games, and it was a real shame to see very few new games being stocked, eventually I went behind the counter to ask if they stocked a game, having seen it in pre-owned. The member of staff looked dis-interested, she even talked to another member of staff when she was working me about her lunch break, which made me feel unwelcomed and like I was a burden on her, someone she didn't want in the store at this time, she basically seemed reluctant to answer any of my questions such as the difference in price between standard and deluxe editions of games. In the end, she gave me a game I feel wasnt new, it just had the game seal on and wasn't in cellophane of any sort, she claimed it was new but it followed the same process of her putting the disc out of where they keep them etc, as they would a pre-owned game, perhaps this was the last copy but still I was offered no discount of any sort because of this, she just seemed rude, disinterested and she wanted to serve and get rid of me a soon as possible, even by giving me a sub-par service and game condition too. Overall due to a lack of new games being showcased in the store, and the awful service, I sadly feel this branch of GAME deserves a single one star.

    Oldham

With my "regular" store on Market Street in Manchester City center closing I decided to visit this slightly smaller branch in Oldham, which as I recall is my first time visiting the That's Entertainment franchise outside the now closed Manchester branch, This store is quite new to Oldham and it does look nice to brighten up the Spindells Mall but sadly it seems to not do anything more than that, as inside it is like a dumping ground in a way especially for the decor. The cases and stands used to hold the CD's, seems to be cracking and falling apart and it was hard to get your game out etc because of the layout of the shelves, which was quite frustrating. It was quite hard to find games such as for the Xbox too due to the layout of the store really not being very good to be able to find your way around, without having to look at everything else first, a staff member pointed me in the right direction, they didn't seem too welcoming or friendly and eager to do more to help. This store in a way can seem to be forgotten, being tucked away into that corner of the mall and sadly it doesn't seem to be doing anything to block that from happening, when I visited the store it just seemed like they didn't care, which was a shame. This store is dwarfed by the selection and customers in CeX nearby especially for used gaming, so sadly I don' feel this branch has done enough to stand out or even be worth a second visit for me too meaning I sadly feel it deserves a single one star.

    Grainger Games - The store

This is a smaller store but still has a good selection of games on various consoles. I had 2 visits to this store, one through choice and one, which I was near enough forced to make, This review makes more sense if you read my one for the Oldham branch as well otherwise the events may be abit confusing. I went into the store and I bought the New Call of Duty game for £30, it was 5 pounds cheaper on the website but I got quite a lame excuse regarding that, that is a reduction for waiting times, I do feel that if they can do £25 online, they should be able to do in the shop as well. I ordered the game in new condition, so after making nearly a 10 mile round trip, I expected everything to be okay but when I got home, I noticed the game was open. I rang the store right away and they explained that they have to do that for display purposes but they would offer me a full refund, or a unopened replacement if one came in on the following days' delivery. As I was going to Oldham anyway, I tried to get the refund in the Oldham store and to put it short, they were very rude and said it wasn't part of the returns policy even though I phoned them and they did offer to give me a refund. This meant I had to go all the way back to Cheetham Hill, and somehow I had to fit this in on my already packed schedule. When I went back, without a fuss they gave me a full cash refund, I would of thought they would of gave me 5 pounds cash and the rest on my card, like I paid but this was easier, as they didn't have the unopened game come in with their delivery. I do feel this store done well to rectify the problem, but I am still furious they never told me in the beginning to save another 10 mile round trip, they just put the game in my bag without giving me chance to check it first but anyway it isn't my job to check it, they should of informed me. Due to this incidient, I can only give 2 stars, scoring 1 higher than the Oldham branch because this store rectified the problem "that wasn't in their return policy"
