Third return, time off work and no apology…read more I visited CeX Drogheda on 14 September for my third return following consecutive problems with handsets supplied by CeX. I had to take time off work to resolve an error that should never have happened. The original Samsung contained the previous owner's personal information. The iPhone 11 I subsequently accepted repeatedly shut down despite showing approximately 75% battery. Its replacement was then supplied network-locked, even though I had purchased an unlocked phone. This latest mistake occurred after extensive correspondence and management assurances that a tested replacement would be arranged. Despite that history, I found the staff I dealt with rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. Their handling of the problem gave me little confidence in their knowledge of mobile phones. There appeared to be no appreciation that I was making yet another visit because CeX had supplied the wrong handset--not because I had changed my mind. During the lengthy visit, one staff member started clapping. In the circumstances, I found this mocking and dismissive, as though I was a nuisance for trying to get the problem resolved. As I was leaving, I was asked whether I needed anything else. I replied, "An apology would be nice." They refused to apologise. The handset was replaced during this visit, but that does not excuse the repeated mistakes, the time I had to take off work or the treatment I received. After three returns, I expected staff to take responsibility, deal with me respectfully and acknowledge the inconvenience. A basic apology should not have been too much to ask. Just want to add that the response below is the usual bs, means absolutely nothing. Is some kind of automated response as I had received the exact same message before in an email. Cex don't care about customers or customer support, evident in the fact that they have no number you can ring to speak to anyone in the company.

A decent sized Game store in the centre of town. It carries all the latest releases as well as a…read morechoice of other games for all the popular consoles and pc. They also have pre owned games and consoles for sale. The staff are generally helpful, though sometimes you have to wait for assistance if there are a number of other people in the shop. If you get the right member of staff they can be quite helpful. One nag though, they now have no flexibility in the make up of the various console packages they sell, which is annoying if you don't like the game that comes with the console you are after.

There is a great selection of games and accessories for all of the most recent games consoles as well as a section dedicated to PC Games. The pre-owned section is a good size although some of the pre-owned games sell for practically the same price as the new games. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and at the till have even pointed out alternate items that would work out cheaper to buy. All in all a great place to shop!

The idiocy of 'customer service' in Belfast baffles me, as readers of my reviews will know only too…read morewell. Into Cex I go to buy some stuff. I'm standing in the queue. There are two signs above the counter. One sign indicated that that particular counter with two tills is for people selling stuff. The other counter with two (or more) tills is for people buying stuff. I queue in the buying line, and quickly realise that all four tills are being used for people selling stuff. This is a process that takes time. The gadgets have to be hooked up, tested, examined, etc., so it's particularly stupid to have zero tills available for people to actually buy stuff. Then I see a customer who, upon observing that all four tills are being used to sell stuff, seems to presume that it must just be a free-for-all, and that all tills are available for buying and selling. This is not an unreasonable presumption, since no rational person could see the logic in a shop which is not selling anything, but only buying things. He, therefore, opts for the shorter queue, which is leading up to the tills which are officially marked for selling. Almost 15 minutes pass before I get served (there were no customers in front of me, by the way, other than the two sellers whose items were being tested). Ordinarily, I would have left, but I wanted to see how long it took, and I wanted to see if I was right about the unfortunate customer who joined the other queue. Yep, after waiting almost 15 minutes and finally getting to a till, the girl tells him that that till is for selling only. Marvellous. On top of this, there was a staff member standing near a vacant till in the 'buying' side the entire time. Did he, upon realising the folly of having a queue of customers with four staff buying and none selling, jump on the vacant till and seek to alleviate the unnecessary wait of the customers laden with products to buy? Did he think, 'If I were a customer waiting in the buying queue where people were selling things, would I want to wait unnecessarily?' Nope, he continued what he was doing. Wrapping. Masking tape, duct tape, bubble wrap...the guy just stood there wrapping the entire time. Maybe the staff here aren't privy to the business model of the company. Now, I haven't been to any Cex franchise meetings; I'm not Facebook friends with Paul Farrington; and I've never received a Snapchat request from Robert Dudani. But I know for a fact that an integral part of the Cex business model is to sell things. Maybe they should mention that in staff training?

My brother was waiting at the til area for about 20 minutes before he was served in here today. He had to approach another member of staff on the shop floor and ask to be served. The staff member who eventually served him tried to offer him a store card which was rejected immediately! Ridiculous customer service - we will certainly not be back here again.

As well as selling stuff they also buy your stuff off you once you have completed it or got bored with it or whatever so thats a pretty good service and they give you a pretty good price. If you like games and what not then you can't go bad at this place. The shop itself is nice and light and the staff are polite and really know what they're talking about.

I've only really had reason to get anything from a Games store for a former boyfriend, when I tracked down an elusive (at the time) Nintendo Wii and the Zelda game, which looked pretty cool. I sat through it all Christmas!! I don't really have a clue about computer games, I once drove round the race track for mario kart the wrong way round. Situated about halfway down the main walkway, this is a great little shop. Basically, it buys and…read moresells pre-owned DVDs, mobile phones, computer games, some electrical equipment, etc. With economic times being what they are, you won't get a great price for anything you're selling, as everyone seems to be selling everything. The good news is that, as a consumer, you can pick up some bargains. Prices vary greatly depending on the condition of the item, how old it is, how much stock of it they have... but it's always worth checking this place out, especially if you have kids and are looking for a DVD box set to leave in the cupboard for a rainy day, or if they've been harping on for months about a game for their PS3 - you might well get it in here at a good price. As I said, though, there are a variety of factors that will affect prices. You have to join to sell stuff here, so make sure you bring an acceptable form of identification, and a bill confirming your home address - it's part of their drive to prevent stolen goods being offloaded here. I WOULD recommend to visit here, were it not for the fact that there's another CEX in Belfast (located on Ann Street), and that store obliterates this one in every possible way.
