I occasionally end up in the food hall here when trying not to do another Mickey D's. There's quite a range of takeaway/convenience food here, from pre-packed food (sandwiches, salads, and other pretty fancy stuff!) to the deli counter. There are some really tasty creations here, particularly at the deli counter.
I have to say, however, that they use a ploy that, in my opinion, is deliberately intended to mislead customers. If you pick up a pre-made wrap in here, it is packaged in the same way as you would expect a small baguette, or a long soft roll, to be. But the card in the middle of the packaging which separates the two halves of wrap is designed to mislead you into thinking that the contents fill the packaging when, of course, there's actually a significant gap between the two halves, which you can't see.
But it's the staff here who have spurred me to write this brief review.
M & S mustn't have the same approach as other food retailers/supermarkets. There must be some special customer service training their staff undergo because any time you ask for something, they will immediately stop what they're doing in order to assist you. It doesn't matter what you're asking (for the sake of brevity and the avoidance of banality, I won't detail the specifics of my experiences there), the staff just seem to be programmed with the idea that answering any query to the satisfaction of the customer is the number one priority. The staff here are as well trained as those in Hollister (see my review).
The service is first-class, and is the complete opposite of Sainsbury's in Sprucefield. read more
