I knew the smell was coming from this shower drain pipe, because when I put vinegar and baking soda into this drain, it would eliminate the smell. But over time the smell would return. Andrew came right out and seemed to be a very nice person and to take pride in his work . He felt it was from some old plumbers caulk at the top of the drain pipe. He removed it and applied a silicone seal. It took him about an hour in all. The charge for this. was a little over 300$. I really don't know what plumbers charge these days but it seemed a bit expensive to me. Over the next weeks, the smell did come back stronger. About a week ago I texted Andrew and asked what he might have seen when he looked with the camera into the trap. I asked if the trap was full of water and if there was any build up that could be seen. I did not hear back.
