Meticulous, Detail Oriented, Personable, Fair Pricing and Reliable, When we decided to re-side our home with James Hardie siding for fire prevention we went to their website for contractor recommendations. I think 3 came up in my area of Pine Valley in San Diego County and I had all 3 come out to give me a bid along with 2 other siding contractors that could install Hardie Board. One bid was high, 3 bids were comparable and one was low. Turns out Mike and Jesus, owners of CertEx, installed our windows with another company 12 years ago but has since started their own company. I didn't choose CertEx because I worked with Mike and Jesus in the past. I chose them because they didn't blow smoke up my ass like other "Approved" and "Elite" contractors approved by James Hardie. I chose them because their price seemed fair. It wasn't high or low. I chose them because my gut said, "You can trust this contractor". Guess what? I was right. The team did an amazing job. So meticulous. I can't get past that. They did not skimp or cut corners. Their attention to detail was beyond expectation. The workers at my home were Carlos, Arturo and Pumba. They were great!!! My house was long overdue for a facelift and I had such a great experience working with CertEX! Mike and Jesus did multiple walkthroughs with me upfront to make sure they clearly understood what I was looking for and that everyone was aligned before getting started. I'm happy to have found this place to replace my windows and sliding door. The process is simple, from start to finish. First, Mike came over to check the windows and the sliding door that needs to be replaced. He discussed my options, and I don't feel pressured to get the most expensive; instead, He focused on what's right and what I need for my house. No aggressive sales pitch for add-ons. After that, he gave me a decent fair quote that doesn't make me feel like I am buying a new car. Since I lived in a condo, the only time it took was getting HOA approval. Once I got approved, I called Mike back so I could sign the contract. He placed the order, and a few weeks later, Jesus (Mike's business partner) and his team came over to install my new windows and sliding door. What a smooth and fantastic experience! While the majority of the home was stucco, the house needed most of the wood fascia and other wooded structural pieces repaired, before repainting. I don't live in the area, but this was for an elderly family member who I help, and it's always tricky to find good people when you don't live there. I found CertEX on Yelp and Mike responded immediately. And I couldn't have found a better contractor. We got a few quotes and his was competitive and we really enjoyed his clarity and style. This is a firm that communicates well and is beyond professional. No hard sell. Very through contracts and addendums. Certex did a great job with our house! Our goal was to fire harden our house, so we replaced wood shingles with fire resistant siding, covered the eves with fire resistant material (Hardy Board), and installed new fire resistant vents (Vulcan vents) to replace existing vents. We then painted it all with a fire retardant paint. The house looks great now, and we feel much safer should any wildfires come to our area.
