Dont bother working here its a total sham. I worked here years ago and I am so happy that I left. Management didnt know what they are doing. Good luck getting 40hrs a week in the summer and during winter good luck getting hours at all. They will give you just enough to not be able to claim unemployment. They didnt tell you your schedule until the morning of, so there were times where I drove into the office to only be sent home. A guy named Dan sticks around and spies on employees. Then there is retaliation along with it. If you ask about a process and they dont agree they wont give you the hours. This job was complicated by the fact we were replacing most of the original wood siding on our 100-year-old house in Whitefish Bay with LP SmartSide. We wanted to preserve the home's character by keeping the original wood facia/trim, wood framing of the enclosed front and back porches and front bump-out windows framing. This required us to hire two separate contractors, working in tandem. CertaPro painted the wood that we kept, and Ridge Top Exteriors did the siding. We're thrilled with the way it turned out, and would certainly recommend CertaPro for similarly tailored projects. Communication was challenging at times. After a couple of days I received a comment from the owner asking me to contact him. I waited a few days before reaching out but was unable to speak with him. My call was instead handled by a man named Joe. He was very pleasant and apologised for what happened. I explained the entire situation but I was not willing to allow them to come back into my home. I even told them how the sales person said they would send a restaurant gift but had not. Joe said he would follow up on that and with the owner and that the owner would follow up with me. Had my bathroom cabinets painted. The painter was very kind and seemed knowledgeable. A few days after he was finished, the paint started to bubble, crack, and peel off. I started a claim on their website immediately, within 2 weeks, as per their contract requirements. I never received a call or an email regarding the issues. It has now been several months and I still haven't been contacted. It's a pretty small job and costed about $1400 or so, but I wouldn't use them again if this is how they remedy a poor job. read more

The Milwaukee Franchise of CertaPro will happily take your money and not do the work. They were supposed to power wash my house including the gutters and fascias. When they came to power wash they spent very little time and did not wash the upper level, the gutters or facias. They came the next day ready to paint. When I asked why the house hadn't been properly power washed they got defensive. I fired them on the spot. Then I got a phone call the next day begging me to let some other crew do the job. I said no because I couldn't trust them. The original crew had worked for the company for 5 years. So, the crew had been ripping off the company for 5 years saying they did work they they did not complete and/or the company knew about the situation and condoned it. If I could give a negative number I would. This company is a joke. Their sales associate was all smiles and promises but it ended there. Our crew was pleasant while working. I gave a positive review initially. They finished on a rainy day so I didn't get a chance to properly inspect the job. When I did, WOW! They missed the entire side of the base of my garage. We paid for two coats and they only painted one. They didn't caulk and it took more then 8 visits and it still isn't finished. Started in late June 2014 and there are still spots on my house unpainted as of Oct. 2014. When they returned to caulk my windows they got caulk everywhere; gutters, hose cart, smears on the siding. It is a mess. They didn't use drop cloths and dripped paint on my garage floor, driveway, deck and even got paint on the code box for the garage door and there are smears on the downspouts. Do NOT pay until you inspect completely. There is no professional that honors the conversations that we had over the phone. Our contract listed a high end paint and they switched to a lower quality. They blamed us for the change. This company employs people that do not honor written contracts. I have security camera footage of them painting in the rain. Who paints in the rain? We've contacted the company multiple times. They just don't care. I wish I had hired a local crew with some pride in their work. I hired CertaPro painters to paint a room, hallway and staircase. I was told the job would be done between August 1st-15th. I called on August 16th and was told the job would be done soon and I should be patient. I finally had painters start on August 27th. Three men showed up in the morning, but one left before noon. The two who stayed came back on Monday, 8/30. I was informed as they left that they had just been told by Dan that they had to go to a different job site on Tuesday. After I had made a complaint Dan called me on Tuesday morning and told me that the crew would be there by noon. At 3 PM I have not received a phone call or had anyone show up. My house is no where near complete and my six children and I are without use of our main living area. I find this completely unacceptable. Why would they be sent to another job when my house is not finished? The two men who have been here are wonderful and I would like them to finish the job. Clearly I am not an important customer to this company. If the job was not started I could call a company that would value my business. This is more than frustrating. We got a great sales pitch, complete with a slick presentation and "references". And then reality set in. Delay. Delay. Delay. And then their crew showed up. 1st of all, we went with his company for the reputation they have. However, what a disaster. The original project was simply to paint the house. the paint was peeling off, so primer was to be used. The 1st team that came out to our house, had no idea we were suppose to have primer on the house. They looked confused on the concept of primer. I'll cut a long story short. We expected the job to done right the 1st time by a team of professionals that communicated what they were doing. We asked lots of questions and even went to the higher ups to question the 1st teams workmanship. Communication was simply poor and the house was terribly painted. In conclusion, after having a discussion with the next level ups and them coming to our house several times. we had 4 different teams come to our house trying to fix what the 1st team did. Also, 2 different teams come and clean up the over spray that was on our new deck! We do appreciate the effort from Amber and Joe, for what they had done for us, they were considerate and agreed with the poor quality of work. We are disappointed with the end game of basically telling them we are out and breaking our contract with still paying 50%. I would not recommend and actually have told many people and they are passing our story and message along. read more

I had an awful experience with Certa Pro from West Allis, WI. First off, it took a month for the painters to even get to my house to start the job. And the second day they came out, they were an hour/ hour and a half late. When they were finished. They didn't do a walkthrough with my husband, I was at work, and he wrote them a check. When I went there to check everything, it was a disaster. We paid for 2 coats for the walls and it was only one coat. They got paint all over the trim and they couldn't paint crisp lines from the wall to the ceiling for crap. We had them remove wallpaper in the kitchen and they left scraps all over the floor and behind the fridge and stove! They also left the fridge plug cord hanging out of the wall. But the best thing was these 'professional painters' painted our bedroom windows shut!! Now our windows are messed up and we had a different guy come out and fix everything and open our windows for us. Our windows have to be open with a lot of force now because of the first group of painters negligence. They also left our house dirty. They are suppose to clean up after themselves but left sanding dust on the ground, a few paint spots on the floor AND they threw food garbage in our outside dumpster (we weren't living there yet so there was no inside garbage) and we got a ton of maggots in the garbage! How rude to leave someone's house in that condition. Then trying to get our money back was a whole other issue. The check that we originally made was what we thought we were getting, but they didn't paint the door and door frame in the bathroom, they had to use our paint for the bathroom because they brought the wrong one (even though we changed the color weeks before) and we didn't do an accent wall that I also told them weeks in advance that we weren't doing anymore. Communication is just HORRIBLE with this company! So get this, they didn't cash our check that we sent and were sending us bills for payment. I told them we already paid but we needed a refund on things since everything wasn't done. Kristina (who is the operations manager) told me to send another check! When they have the other one in there possession too! How shady! I told her I wasn't doing that and if they sent us back the original check, we would write a new one out with the new total once we received the old check. She said she would mail us back the original check and wait for our payment. A few days went by and still no check in the mail. Then she got snippy and just told me to talk to the owner. Which was a hassle to get his information. I asked for his name and email multiple times and she wouldn't give it to me. But once I emailed the owner, Matt, he was saying for us to put a stop payment on the check. And I didn't understand why we would do that when Kristina said she was mailing it back to us. Since they were making it so difficult I said we would just come to the office and pick up the check in person since it's such a big deal. But we couldn't do that because the bookkeeper was on vacation and she is the only one that handles checks. How convenient. And how was Kristina suppose to send it to me if she's not allowed to touch the checks? But we ended up doing the stop payment and we didn't have to pay for it out of our pockets which, we shouldn't have to. We made arrangements to have the mistakes fixed on a Wednesday at 10am and the guy didn't show. I don't think he was ever told because I never got confirmation from the owner. so we had to wait till next week Wednesday for him to come out and he fixed the mistakes from the first crew. I contacted Matt to confirm he was arriving and he said he would get back to me, which he never did and I had to contact him again and he texted me the morning of, "A painter is assigned for 10am today, not sure if it's Ty or not." WTF? We specifically asked for him because he know what he is doing. Thankfully it was him and he fixed the mistakes and honestly, he was the only good thing about this place. It was going through hell with this company and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

One star but they don't deserve that either! I hired CertaPro for an exterior painting job on my 1895 home. They were to do some sanding on my wood siding, oil priming and two coats of rolled/brushed painting. With a full crew I was told it would take about 3 weeks and it took 3 months which was the least of my problems. They damaged my wood siding because they didn't know how to sand and they created groves, waves and completely distroyed the beautiful old wood siding. I cried for two weeks. They promised they would correct it, but there was no fixing this problem only lessening the damage. So I had to keep instructing them on the types of sanders/sandpaper they should be using. Afterward, they barely applied the oil primer, leaving many areas exposed. They didn't replace my gutters as they found them. The painting job was awful as well because they sprayed the paint and then after much complaining they did some portions of the house with a roller. I had complained almost daily to the supervisor and after a long time I called the office and spoke with the person who I originally signed up with and they were short/rude with me and told me to just deal with the supervisor. Every day was torture as I tried to make sure that they delivered what they promised they would and they never did. It reached the point where I just wanted them off my property and to stop damaging my home. It came to either I fight this more or I let it go and get some peace in my life. PLEASE BEWARE! I paid full price for basically having my house damaged! I would NEVER EVER EVER contact these people for any job because they do not know what they're doing!!! I could fill you in on more horror details but the bottom line is they do not know what they're doing but worse is the damage they caused! read more

I would give the sales a 5 for pulling one over on me. He told a story of how great a paint job he would supply. We would be foolish to go with anyone else... Then the job started. Certa Pro has professional staff and when they get overloaded they use contractors. This word is used loosely as it could be a "dude" that owns a pickup and has seen the word "paint" before. This was the crew that I got initially. I looked at the paint that they were putting down after day one and my first thought was... "This is the first day these guys have picked up a paintbrush and a roller". Eventually, after much arguing, we got a staff painter that did a great job. (Thanks Dwight!) They are also great at the up charges. My $4800 paint project quickly became $5800 - $6000. Hire your own carpenter for rotten wood or anything not painting because that will cost you more than it should. Overall I would rather burn my house down before hiring Certa "Pro" painters again. read more

The worst customer service you could imagine. I had an initial quote and wanted to update it include more painting work. To get the quote fixed it took multiple emails and phone calls to get a hold of them. Once I tried to schedule the job it took another couple days and multiple calls to get a hold of someone. Donna was supposed to be taking care of this. They have terrible internal communication. Sean was the most helpful person I spoke to, he is my job site supervisor...no complaints about him. Sean worked hard and communicated clearly with me. He deserves a raise because he is more competent than anyone else at the franchise. When I finally scheduled, they never called to confirm...I had to call them myself in order to confirm the work for that day. Work itself is decent. Jim, who did the quoting, didn't tell Sean about the size of my stairwell and a one day project turned into a two day project because he had the wrong size ladder. Price was good (too good). Service and communication is exceptionally poor. I regret using CertaPro. Wish I had spent more money on a quality company in order to avoid the headaches with this CertaPro job. read more

I have used certa pro many many times. And after our most recent experience I will never use them again and I will tell everyone I know not to use them. They came to power wash my house and I said not to come over the phone because of the 4th of July a holiday. They came July 5th and power washed my entire house. Not happy. Dan said they would be back later that same week or early the next week. Never happened. We changed our original 2 coats to 1 coat as we are going to change out our siding in the next year or two. We have asked multiple times for a new estimate. STILL haven't gotten one! Dan told my husband he was on vacation at the end of July and would get us the new total when he returned! Still haven't gotten it. Was told August 3rd they would be back to finish the following week. Still wasn't finished. So I contacted Matt on Monday and have gotten no response. My husband contacted Dan on Monday and Dan couldn't even pick up a phone and speak to my husband. Dan sent my husband a text!! The crew came back the next day and they asked to be paid. We still don't know what the new charges were so we will wait to pay them until Dan and Matt contact us to clear up what is possibly the biggest cluster mess we have ever had. Had I known more about CertaPro upfront and been shown honest feedback from customers who had a less than satisfactory experience, I would've turned and ran quickly from these hacks. Let's start with the initial consultation. Ben came to our home, spoke with my wife and I about our exterior painting needs, walked around our house, made general pleasantries, and provided us with an estimate very quickly. Unfortunately, this was the high point of our relationship with CertaPro. We were shown a binder full of projects and customer reviews with 4 and 5 ratings (on a 5 point scale). What they won't show you, and what you won't find on their website, are reviews from customers who gave a rating of 3 or less. My review? Not on their website because I gave them a 2. So warning number one: ask for a completely unedited list of reviews to get the real story. Of course they'll show you the good reviews. Warning number two: CertaPro does not employ their painters; rather, they subcontract all of their jobs to local crews looking to make some quick money. My suspicion of this fact was confirmed by Cindy at their office, who told me they subcontract their jobs. The lack of accountability from our crew, and from CertaPro in making sure a quality job was done, was pathetic. Start to finish, the job took about 2 months. Among the long list of problems, I got home one day to find the trim of our home had been painted chocolate brown instead of the black color we chose during our color consultation. Ben told us we would have to pay $600+ to correct this. Even when we provided proof of our email exchanges with our color consultant, we still had to fight to get it resolved at no charge. I'll spare you the boring details about the shoddy scraping job, the thin coats of paint on our trim that needed to be retouched not once, but twice, the excuse that some of our downspouts couldn't be painted behind because removing them would cause the gutters to fall, and the laughable attitude of the office manager, Craig, when I told him I wouldn't be paying them a dime until the job was completed to some level of satisfaction. Do yourself a favor: Find a local painter who takes pride in his work. The extra few hundred dollars you might pay will be well worth it. If you still think you want to work with CertaPro to save some money, question the hell out of everything they tell you upfront and make sure you inspect the work before you give them a dollar. read more

It was simple enough. In late May of 2021, sales rep Mike Vasser came to my house for an estimate. Mike seemed like a nice guy, the type of guy I wanted to do business with. On May 29, 2021, he proved a very professional but shocking quote of $1,108.00 to paint a hallway, a stairwell an one garage wall with extra charges for some minor drywall touchup. On June 2, I submitted a $300.00 deposit via their web site. For the next six weeks, I heard nothing from them. I was forced to contact them instead. The painting was eventually scheduled for Monday, July 19, over 6 weeks later. The painter arrived in a timely fashion on the 19th. While I was at work, the painter texted to report that he couldn't get the paint to stick to certain areas of the garage wall and that it was "bubbling up". He consulted CertaPro production associate Erik Pfarrer. A short time later, I got a call from Erik. He explained that the root cause of the bubbling bubbling paint was a moister issue between the living room wall and the garage wall. He went on to explain that I would have to replace the drywall in the garage. I resigned myself to the need to have the drywall replaced. When I arrived at my house, I noticed that the pealing paint was still present on the garage wall and that there were paint splatters all over the front part of my concrete garage floor. Skeptical, I cut off some of the pealing paint and proceeded to use the leftover paint and my own painting technique to paint the pealing areas. To my astonishment, the paint stuck to the wall. I spent the next hour repainting the affected areas of the wall with the paint sticking to the wall in all instances. Then, I went inside. I spent the next 45 minutes cleaning paint spatters from hallway doors and trim. I called Mike and asked for a reduction in the final bill given these events. His stance was that technically, his painter painted everything he was contracted to paint. At that point, he washed his hands of the entire episode. read more

Do you not use this business, complete waste of time. On 8/30/17 received a quote from Jim Benson and he seemed professional. His office was to call me to schedule the actual job, they never called me. I followed up directly with his office and spoke with a Donna Yourell and basically blamed me saying I gave them the incorrect phone number, which isn't true, since it was correct on the quote. Followed up several times only to have them say the painter would call me that week, never happened, wasted all summer expecting them to contact me. What a joke, do not use them! read more

The consultation was pleasant, but things went down hill after that. The scheduling process has been a nightmare. I have called them six times to schedule my appointment and no success yet. They are always out of the office...either a holiday...to late on a Friday....on another call. They never return messages. Their accountant seems to be in the office, because they had no problem cashing my deposit. I won't be going through with the paint job. I have little confidence in this service. Its too bad, the reason I am willing to pay a premium to avoid flaky, undependable contractors. read more

Poor paint coverage. When the job was completed, I pointed out numerous places where the paint did not cover the scraped areas. They did repaint these areas and were paid. About a week later, we discovered some higher sections where the paint did not cover scraped areas. I emailed Paul. and I am very disappointed by his lack of a response. I understand that we would be responsible for the additional paint needed to complete the job, but I can't get anything accomplished without communication with Paul. read more
