The storefront caught my eye when I turned onto 1st Street as a short cut from 84th Street to a nearby church where I was attending a fundraising event. It's a small store, jammed with a variety of tops, skirts, dresses, jeans, purses, shoes and accessories. The prices are on the higher end (for those of you who shop at Target), but within reason (I thought so, anyway). If hate giant departments stores (me), are on the lookout for something a bit different from the mall shops (me) and you're a woman who wears a size 12 or less, then you might want to give this place a go. I know, Papillion isn't exactly the mecca of high fashion in the Omaha area, but there's a little jewel downtown that's worth a visit. On the day I visited, it was "take an extra 40% sale prices" day....an unexpected deal always makes a girl smile.

Although the space is big, they have so much that the aisles are pretty tight. My only complaint is that there is only one dressing room for the whole store, so you can expect to wait in line for this. I do appreciate that they have a bathroom on site and available to the public. The cashiers were very nice and personable--they are always friendly, no matter what location I go to! It mostly sells women's clothing that one might call a bit more "hippy", but you can also find a nice selection of incense and random gifts. For example I found a cool looking Dalek made out of random pieces of metal. Keep in mind though the Old Market is a tourist stop so the items here cost more than what you'd find else where. I do think the employees are bit stand offish but to be fair they probably see a lot of weirdos everyday. If you're in the area I recommend you check this place out as well as the rest of the passage way stores!

I have also noticed that they are willing to haggle a bit and bring down the price if you see a noticeable issue with an item. You just gotta ask (ie. stain, rip/tear, etc.)! I really appreciate that part because it really helps to eliminate waste, especially from clothing if they can be fixed. I find this particular store to have fairly organized sections, especially the clothing and linens. They could work on larger pieces and furniture, which are just kind of haphazardly placed in the rear of the store. The cleanliness of the store is pretty good compared to many local thrift stores, and they have recently done some remodeling that has helped to open up the space. One of my critiques would have to be that I feel most items are on average $1 over-priced across the board (just my personal opinion). For instance, a pair of lone, unmatched toddler pajama pants were $3.98 when I was looking yesterday. Seems a little steep given you can get a brand-new complete set for $9 or $10 at Old Navy or Carter's.
