At points in my life I have collected comic books, other comic book related items, movie related merchandise, and diecast. This place has all that and more...! Shop smart and take your cell phone to stare and compare. I found a few items reasonably priced, but I found quite a few more that were well above what they could be purchased for online including shipping. One thing about collectibles though... Sometimes it's worth a few dollars more to have it in your hands. I've been surprised a few times when I received items that weren't as described or packaging was damaged in transit. Antiques and collectibles are a different market as a buyer... If you see something you want it's better to buy it right then if it's priced within reason. You may never find that same item again... Old Market is what Old Market is... It's geared to tourists and things are often a little high priced in areas like this. So is their rent usually... These areas attract a high volume of people and if you don't want to pay the marked price...someone who comes in right behind you just might. Some of the items here are a little dusty, but I guess that's to be expected with that many surfaces. Pretty hard to stay on top of all of it... The Imaginarium Old Market Mercantile is defintely worth the stop if you are into collectibles and/or nostalgia!

It's big on the inside with various items: women's/men's clothing, a small selection of children's clothing, ceramics (plates, mugs), some smaller furniture items. There was a nice, small purple couch for $600; there's a very small amount of items that seem to be curated and in good condition. There's a large quantity and variety of items, however the selection is poor. A lot of the clothing items had stains or marks. It reeked of mold, and smells horrible. The clothing items on the racks are packed very close together so it can be tough to sift through. Cashier with a beard and glasses was extremely rude! We walked in and there was no welcome. I would go so far as to say we received an annoyed look that we came in. However, when there was a busload of white women that came in and were loudly patronizing the store the whole time, they received a warm welcome with a smile. I entered this store with family (aunt and 2 cousins) as a visitor from out of state. When we approached the cashier, my aunt paid for her items: 1 shirt, 1 pair of pants, 3 bracelets, and a mug which totaled around $33. My aunt asked the cashier about the prices of certain individual items after she paid, because the bracelets and mug didn't have price tags on them when we brought them to the register. She wasn't given a receipt nor was she asked if she wanted one when she checked out. The cashier responded in an annoyed tone, "Oh my gosh, I'll just print you a receipt." The cashier should've asked if she wanted a receipt after she paid! We decided to just leave after the interaction, but my aunt and cousin went back in the store to take some photos of the store. My aunt: "You should've given me a receipt instead of saying 'oh my gosh'. It was rude." Cashier: "I was just trying to give you a receipt because you couldn't count it up." My aunt: "You were being rude and should've given me a receipt from the beginning." After that, my aunt walked away and the cashier proceeds to tell the customers in line that he was trying to "help" my aunt in their original interaction, which is incorrect. He was unfriendly and rude towards our whole party, no customer service skills for customers of color. Don't shop here if you're a person of color. It's not worth the stained clothing merchandise or withstanding the stench of mold in this basement shop.

What sets Among Other Things apart from all the other shops selling vintage and consignment stuff for the home is that their collection is well-curated. You won't find cheap craft crap; you'll find cool stuff from throughout the last, oh, 120 years or so. Any of it would look good in a well-appointed home. And thank heavens, they haven't completely jumped on the mid-century trend as most other such places have. From chairs to rugs to cards, there's something here for anyone with good taste. (I picked up a fairly recent photography coffeetable book at a reasonable price.) There's also an adjoining women's vintage clothing store (unfortunately, nothing for guys). While the location might be a little tough to find at first, it's one to put on your radar. (And not far from NFM, so any time you're thinking of visiting them, stop by here, too.)

Especially when you can find comparable items at a thrift store. As a result some items have been there for quite some time. I love that she also carries some local artists' works. But again, overpriced for what they are. The store is quite crowded, I don't think a stroller could fit through some of the walking paths. I worry about bringing my big purse in. Overall, it's a fun place to peruse, but after many visits, I've yet to pull the trigger on buying anything.

She sources from local businesses and other small and unique companies that you just won't find many other places in Omaha. Warning: there's fast turnaround for many of the furniture items here. Items sold here are either vintage items that have been curated and updated (painted, spruced up with new hardware) or new items by makers (candles from Refugee Empowerment Center, tables made by crafters in Kansas City, vases and macrame plant hangers from local makers). They also sell paint, stencils, removable wallpaper, and hardware for those who'd like to try their own DIY. You never know what you'll find here. Some of their items are pieces of history (remade from cargo carriers or sourced pieces of furniture from art museums). When it comes to the price tag, I agree with other reivewers who noted that pricing is variable.

This store sells a few souvenir items from Nebraska like magnets, keychains. They also have greeting cards, umbrella, toys like harmonica, and stuffed toys shaped like corn, etc. The lady at the Tannenbaum Christmas Shop answered my questions about the merchandise on Old Market Sundries section. Items are reasonably priced.

We were able to find all the keychains and shot glasses we needed. Not only did they have Omaha/NE branded items, but they also got items from nearby Iowa. If you are planning on driving through Iowa but still want to take a piece home for yourself, then this is a good spot to stock up as well. The day we shopped here turned out to be the cashier's first day. We had a good time chit chatting about our travels on Route 66 and how we had been on the road for what felt like decades. With great service and a nice selection, this is certainly the best one-stop shop that I can think of for anything Omaha related.

Second, I did not leave empty handed from my visit last week (and that's saying ALOT since I'm built like a normal human and not a supermodel, although I am on the tall side). I like to find these little shops where I can find a piece or two to mix up my wardrobe (otherwise, I look like I mass order my outfits from Gap). So, not everything in this little boutique is for everyone - I totally passed on the fur vest, skinny jeans, and lacy flouncy tunic look. But, it's nice to have these little shops in Omaha that sell fashionable items at reasonable prices (yes, they do have a sale rack). If you're around 120th & Center, visit this locally owned boutique. Oh yes...and they accessories too.
