I've gotten more into thrifting in recent years and finally paid thrift world a visit. This is my girlfriend's favorite spot in Omaha. I felt this location had a lot more vintage and unique items compared to what I might find at goodwill. You do need to make sure you have time to go through the racks but they weren't overly full. I don't live too far away from this location and enjoy going when I have the chance. They must've had a big turnover with staff because all of the people that I have dealt with are very kind, unlike previous reviews state. I have also noticed that they are willing to haggle a bit and bring down the price if you see a noticeable issue with an item. You just gotta ask (ie. stain, rip/tear, etc.)! I really appreciate that part because it really helps to eliminate waste, especially from clothing if they can be fixed. I find this particular store to have fairly organized sections, especially the clothing and linens. They could work on larger pieces and furniture, which are just kind of haphazardly placed in the rear of the store. The cleanliness of the store is pretty good compared to many local thrift stores, and they have recently done some remodeling that has helped to open up the space. One of my critiques would have to be that I feel most items are on average $1 over-priced across the board (just my personal opinion). For instance, a pair of lone, unmatched toddler pajama pants were $3.98 when I was looking yesterday. Seems a little steep given you can get a brand-new complete set for $9 or $10 at Old Navy or Carter's. read more

They have a very large variety of stuff to offer with employees that are almost always happy and helpful. Jamie was very helpful today. I was hoping this would be a great spot with a lot of good finds, however I was pretty disappointed with the end result. I guess it depends on what you are looking for, if you were going here looking for women's clothes you will probably end up happy with what you find. The furniture, home goods, and mens selection is pretty poor at this location. There a are a handful of good mens tees to pick from, but as for sweatshirts there isn't much. read more

I am super close to this Thrift World location which is awesome. I have been to the new one in Council Bluffs and it is awesome, so I was excited to come here. The store is really clean, and they have an amazing selection of everything! From shoes and purses to furniture, there is something to always find. Oh, by the way to Pyrex people, Thrift World always has great Pyrex items! I got a couple of outfits and they were so cute! The price was great for jeans from The Loft and American Eagle. I got a Pyrex bread dish and four outfits for $50.00. You can't beat that! Overall, I loved the items Thrift World had and the prices. I can't wait to go back. read more

I first visited this location and after finding a variety of hidden treasures, I wanted to visit a few other locations as well. I've been coming to this location for years now, and have to say I've found quite a few worthwhile things. I mostly browse for clothes when I thrift, and Thrift World's prices have slowly started creeping up in the last year or two - now you're looking at about $3.50 for shirts and $5+ for jeans/pants. No $1 impulse buys here, folks. Plus they have a couple racks of "quality" name brand clothes going for upwards of $10-$15 a pop. No thanks on the super faded Ed Hardy button-up - do I have to remind you that this is a thrift store? But if you're looking for dishes, coffee mugs, etc., well, this place has a huge selection of miss-matched kitchen nicknackery for super cheap. The inventory turnover here is pretty high, so if you stop by every few weeks you'll always have plenty of "new" stuff to browse through. I dig that. read more

pricing is WAY out of hand!!! you have so many clothing items that you cannot sort through anything! because you want $10 for a used hoodie? no one will buy at that price, so you will always have stuffed shelves and racks!!! your household items are twice or three times more than Goodwill, and even with your 50% off days, there is still too much to sort through!! Christmas items for $24? Tupperware (not the brand) for $5?? even a towel or scarf is more than what you pay at a store, brand new! Old Navy clearance, Maurice's clearance, TJ Maxx... all lower prices than a for-profit thrift store?? I went in briefly after work in my scrubs and as I was shopping I was Rudely yelled at by a blonde girl with glasses from across the entire store to put on my mask, which I had forgotten in my pocket, so I kindly said "Ok thank you." Then, since I didn't do it fast enough she yelled (the tone increased in rudeness) Yet again across the store, "Ma'am if you don't put your mask on we won't serve you!" It was so distastefully done and rude that I left. Aside from the rudeness the product was trashy anyway so I will never shop there. read more

Usually, a trip to Thrift World is precipitated by my realization that my son isn't going to fit into the day's outfit no mater how much I struggle. What if I just stand him up and pull it here...maybe just bounce him a little...ugh...nope, not happening. Thrift World here we come. Thrift World is the closest second hand store to my house. As other people have noted, it's not the cheapest. Today I got one pair of toddler shorts and one pair of pants for $5.31. On the up side their children's clothes tend to look new or at least newish. The clothes aren't really organized by size, so you have to go through a lot of things just to get something that fits, but since they only have a few racks it's not terrible. There is a decent selection, I've never left empty handed. One thing I don't go to a thrift store for is good customer service. However, today's experience kind of crossed the line into uncivil behavior. I was waiting for awhile at the checkout line, no one bothered to acknowledge me. Then one of the cashiers brought up a customer she knew and took her to a different line to check out. I'm pretty chill, so whatever. It's the part where she couldn't even bother to say a word to me that rankles. A simple "come over here and I'll get you next" would suffice. Even when it was my turn I was met with silence until I said "hi". Not cool, but again, I don't come here for the service. read more

I love this thrift store and go about once a week. It is true that it's a little more expensive than others,but first)they usually have the best selection of quaint items and second) they are a for profit enterprise, not a scam masquerading as non-profit, paying the management execs over half a million a year while exploiting a vulnerable labor pool at less than the minimum wage, and paying no taxes. Sorry about the mid-review rant. I have found things at Thrift World that have never appeared at their competitors, in part because Thrift World snatched them up FROM their competitors first. Here's how it works--in addition to the donations individuals drop off, Thrift World buy goods by the pound from other organizations which need the money more readily than the goods. A lot of charities receive donations of goods they cannot use or warehouse for long. Win-win as far as I am concerned. My thrifting interest is primarily NOT in clothing, shoes or toys, and I have made some astounding finds for a reasonable price. They have the most broad ranging selection of any of the stores and better lighting. I don't know WHO sold Goodwill that stupid lighting design with those dreadful fluorescent pendant lamps that cast a dim gray pall all over everything while simultaneously loading up row after row of shelves that the light CAN'T penetrate, but Thrift World leaves in place the warm long fluorescent tubes that properly illuminate, from the time the place was a grocery store. I have shopped here a many times. I'm an avid thrifter. I usually look for anything I can buy and resell, or deals for myself, family or friends. I have found some deals here on clothes and furniture before. There are three other thrift worlds in Omaha, This location is third on my list of the 4. Horrible customer service. The staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Never in my life have I been so disrespected by customer service employees. They had very immature attitudes, and they seem not to care about their customer's satisfaction. Seriously, never will I ever come back here. Which is a shame because I really enjoyed this thrift store. The staff used to be way friendlier. And not to mention, their stuff can be a little over priced. Believe me, as an avid thrifter, there are way better thrift stores in Omaha than this place. Take your money somewhere where you'll know you'll be respected and appreciated. i used to like this place.... until now... they did try to clean up the store and make it look nicer - but the prices are outrageous i laugh every time i go to look at the tags like hmm lemme guess it's gonna be 20$ ohhhh i was right wow. i've seen name brand items that have HOLES in them selling for 15$ i could get a non holed up item with the same brand - in stores on discount for 20$ you guys need to stop pricing up things - do you think people will buy these things, no. they will be on your racks for a while until you price it down. also the customer service has had a decline too. too many of the workers i've seen wonder around on their phones and/or being rude and having snarky voices to other customers around. as well as talking about customers while they are still in the store. there was one incident i saw where some employees said they didn't have time to get something for someone to move a heavy item they had so they did it themselves. they said they were busy and that they didn't have the item - when the item was up in the front right in front of them. also there was barely any one in the store. probably won't come back here EVER again it's just a terrible store now. read more

Worst case of white privilege and entitlement I have ever experienced. Memorial day sale I was 3rd person to enter store, went to tractor snowblower and held on to it while looking for sales help. Another older man came and said it would fit his tractor and he said he was buying it. I informed him that i was waiting for help and was buying it. Then he began peeling the sticker off the part I was holding on to, mind you while telling him to stop, he ignored my request and took off sticker began going to cashier counter, I told cashier we had a problem. She got the manager to come who wanted to hear his side first, where she made a decision about how they sell large items, you take the sticker to the cashier. I told her you don't reward his behavior, but she asked me to cease my arguments or be asked to leave. No response to 2 contact requests and 2 calls to ask for higher level support personnel to respond to my questions. 10 days later read more

After working out in Zumba class at the Maple Street Y this evening, I headed over to Thrift World to get some workout clothes. I found two sleeveless tops and and a pair of exercise pants. Total cost for all three items was $7.97 including tax. Then I went over to Walgreens and bought a headband. Total cost of the headband was $8.01 including tax. I love the selection and the savings at Thrift World, and I have been a customer since the store opened. read more

I do not feel they are pricey at all and the color tag sales are fantastic. Now on Sundays you can get an even better deal. I have amassed a huge book collection cheaply there as well. The staff of Rachel and RJ are so friendly and helpful. I truly go weekly if not more often and have frequented there for many years. One of my faves if not my top fave.
