Come wedding day, I was hiding in a room somewhere w my husband away from the crowd and Chris secretly fed us signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. During reception, he had plates assembled for us so that we wouldn't go hungry. At the end of the night, his team packed us food to go!! Chris and his designer shoes were a godsend. Groom and I wanted an elevated Asian fusion menu that went beyond stereotypical panda express type of affair. We not only wanted to incorporate Chinese, Vietnamese, Burmese cuisines, we also threw in vegan, vegetarian, and rare spices that had to be procured from certain vendors. This, for a party of almost 300 people. Yes, we were THAT annoying. But Chris and Chef never gave up on us. We had 2 tastings including dessert/cake. Food is one of those things people remember weddings by. It can make or break your guest experience. Give too little food and your guest will end up ordering take out to your venue to embarrass you (yes, I know of a wedding where that actually happened). Give older Asian family members mediocre food and they'll never let you live it down. I had countless guests come to me excitedly talking about how incredible the cocktail hour and reception dinner was. Nobody went hungry. Late night bites were also a hit! Toast came back mid range on pricing but by far the best in terms of what they included and also what wasn't included. What they were able to include was coordination and delivery of rentals (plates, flatware, chairs, tables, etc.) and what they didn't include is a ton of unnecessary and frankly extremely expensive fees that other companies did. Another "right off the bat" win was how communicative and professional Alicia was. When we started going back-and-forth on email, she called me to clarify my needs and understand my vision. That allowed her to give me a much more customized quote that included all the foods that I liked instead of a cookie cutter version of a menu that was suited to somebody else's tastes. Most other companies were giving me menus with shellfish and prime rib, neither of which I wanted on my menu. After settling on the menu, the rest of the process with Toast was so easy. They took care of all the coordination with my venue directly, organizing all the load in and load out details. Day of, I showed up to staff who was prepared, competent, and went above and beyond to make sure my guests were taken care of. I wish I knew the name of one of the servers who was hands-down the best server I've ever worked with. He somehow knew my brother was the vegan, and brought him his plate right when everyone else was going through the buffet. He also had noticed a guest was not drinking and brought them a cup of the alcohol free drink to their place. One guest asked for a wine that was not on the table and he made an effort to go to the bar and get that for them. Just fantastic! Quality of food was also impressive. I did pass appetizers and a buffet dinner. The past appetizers were all excellent, especially the mango spring rolls with peanut sauce. Yum! The best way to describe Christina at Le's Kitchen is that they're the greatest "Yes, and" caterer…read moreyou could ask for. For us, we were very set on having Chinese (or at least East Asian) cuisine for our wedding. Le's is one of the few catering options available in the Bay Area. Most caterers we talked to gave us limitations, said they couldn't customize things, but Le's was special. Christina made us feel truly special and carefully listened to us talk about the customizations that we wanted. She would add in her own suggestions and expertise into the discussion, and told us when something would have been too challenging. The final meal that we got was breathtaking, with many of our guests exclaiming that it was the best wedding meal they've ever eaten. In fact, some even said it was some of the best food they ever had. Everyone, from relatives from China to Americans born and raised in Ohio thought the meal was brilliant. But Christina was never afraid of any culinary challenge, and would work diligently on researching and perfecting new recipes to serve us. In terms of recipe development, Christina was nothing short of professional and a perfectionist. Two things stood out specifically. First, was that we also asked if Le's could cater boba for us as well. We already liked the Milk Tea that they demo'd at the initial tasting, but we asked for two very specific drinks in addition to the standard Milk tea. We requested an orange fruit tea, and a sesame milk drink. Christina iterated on both recipes, and came back to us with a tasting. My wife and I, as boba connoisseurs, had extremely nitpicky feedback to give, and she took all of it with grace. Every single of of the drinks were improved to exactly what we had imagined, by the time of our wedding, and the boba catering was genuinely perfect. The second thing that stood out is that we asked for a particularly experimental dish as an hors d'oeuvres, notably a youtiao + shrimp paste dish that was inspired by shrimp toast. Christina told us that this would be a challenge, especially as she would have to source the youtiao, and then actually develop the dish. During our second tasting, she came up with two completely different versions for us to sample. We chose one, but also gave some feedback about what we liked or disliked of each . What came out at the wedding was neither of the options, but something incredible and better than anything we had imagined possible. She had taken the dish back to the kitchen, and worked on the dish until perfection. If you get a chance to ask for a tasting, I implore you to ask for that appetizer. Overall, if you are looking for a Chinese or Vietnamese cuisine for your wedding, you honestly can't go wrong with Le's kitchen.
