We had a good experience with Ceramic Art Cafe for my son's 6th birthday party. It was easy to book, and the owner was accommodating when we had to postpone because my son got sick the day of the scheduled party. I saw that the hours were in the afternoon but I called the day before my friends and I wanted to come to paint pottery. I got the answering machine so I left a message and asked for someone to call me back to confirm that we could come in the next day at 3 PM. I checked the website and the Facebook page and all information said that they were open on Wednesday afternoons. I arrived today at 3 pm to find the place closed. I called and I could hear the phone ringing inside. Very disappointed. read more

My husband and I went last night for a little date. Let me start by stating that neither of us are amazing painters, but we loved it. They have a large amount of ceramics to choose from, and it was very peaceful and quiet. There was also a child's birthday party going on, but they weren't running around crazy loud, they were actually pretty quiet eating and opening presents. We can't wait to go back to get our painted pieces. I would definitely recommend choosing this place, we can't wait to go back. The prices were reasonable and Friday's are $4 instead of $8. The owners were really nice, we came a bit late and they close at 9:00 pm, they didn't rush us at all. When we were done I started cleaning up, they told us to just leave it that they would clean it up so we could finish enjoying our night. read more

Cute place! I brought my niece here because we wanted something to do close to home. Love the atmosphere. We both painted something- wish they had a few more pieces that were everyday use. I love painting pottery but feel like it's just junk and I never use it. The women was nice- she does kind of just sit there and yell what to do but we didn't mind it and we think she's a very sweet lady that runs a good business. Will definitely come back. read more

Recently had my dau's bday party there. We had about 18 - 5 yr olds and it was utter chaos! The owners did not help direct the party, you are completely on your own! The man who owns the place yelled at me and my guests from the minute we walked in and reminded me over and over that we had to be out the door by a certain time. We ended up leaving and clearing out early cause I was sick of being yelled at! Maybe this would better for an older kids party but NOT good for the young ones! read more

This is to the OWNER, please don't be rude over the phone to your potential customers. It really left bad taste in my mouth! I will never ever book party in your studio, and hope many people will think twice before booking event there. I first visited this place about 3 years ago, and decided it was time to return. I love doing artsy crafty stuff especially when I do not have to mess up my home. You pick your own pottery, then you sit and decorate. If your unsure there are plenty of samples and ideas. It is really theraputic. Its great for you by yourself or your spouse or a kids party. I actually love to come here with all ages. The owners are part of the charm. Sue, the owner, has always been helpful and I enjoy her personality. I've been here with my middle aged girl friends on an afternoon drinking wine, brownie troop as well as my young children making a platter for Father's Day. I recently had a family bachelorette party here for my daughter. The party was 11 people including adults and children. The owner, Sue, was incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. She offered us lots of suggestions. The prices were very reasonable, there was a good selection of pieces to choose from, and if you needed some artistc advice, Sue was ready to help. I've been there twice with my 5 year old son. He loves the place! We go just the two of us and he picks a few items to paint. (They have a huge selection!) The owner has always been kind to us. Sure, they are set in there ways, but I assume that comes with knowing what they are talking about, and they certainly know alot about their products and the art. They have been their for years. Infact I attended birthday parties there when I was a kid. It was a "must" back then and i'd definitely consider it for a child's party. (Personally I think it would be adorable for a girls 'tea party' theme.) I think people expect because it's a business that the people who work their must cater to there every need. I have found that the owner and other employees were always willing to answer my questions or give some advice when asked for or needed. However, painting has that therapeutic touch to it and it's necessary they give you space to experience it. I've always thought they done a good job balancing the two. We expect people to be overwhelmingly friendly but we don't have the same courtesy towards them. I walk in with a hello and how are you doing, they are people to. Sure it's a business but it's not a chain store, it's locally owned and it has much more of a homey, zen, feel to it. That's the kind of thing I appreciate. read more

As someone who worked in an art studio for years and who did kids birthday parties there all the time I can say that we have different styles of doing the parties. My cousin had a fantastic time at her 7th birthday along with her 10 friends, I also decided to paint and I love how my piece came out. What others have said IS true, the teacher or head person or whatever does sit at her desk and does not get up for anyone or anything. She does yell her instructions across the room and at times they can be unclear. The party we were with were confused and felt overwhelmed with some of the instructions and might have preferred to see a sample or SOMETHING. No one walked around during the party to compliment pieces or offer a suggestion on how to improve the painting. The most involvement we got was from her telling us that the kids need to hurry up and that the kids NEED to sit at the picnic table in the back to eat. Outside of that it was pretty uninvolved. Wasn't bad, price was fine and I actually really liked how my piece turned out. read more

I have been coming to this pottery shop for over 10 years. I love that there is a fun activity like this to do in town! It's a relaxing activity for a group or friends or family and can be enjoyable for all ages. They have a wide selection of pieces to choose from, which are all reasonably priced. I have made some decorative dishes to hold jewelry that I love to look at every day! I've also given personalized plates for friends' weddings and special events - such a nice gift idea! The shop is locally owned and run and it is nice to support the community. Also, consider the age and number of your children for a birthday party - the staff may need more chaperones, after all, kids can be a little wild. I would definitely come back here again with a group of friends for a fun, creative activity - and recommend it to anyone who's looking for a nice relaxing afternoon or evening! read more
