    Getting tattooed on 11/28/15
    Dayna P.

UPDATE 11/29/15 Received my tattoo last night, I love it! Samantha's artwork she created for me is beautiful. She really listened to what elements I wanted. I basically burst into tears when I saw what she drew. Being my first tattoo I was really scared and worried about the pain. She really put me at ease and it wasn't even bad! She has a great energy and a light touch. I can't praise her and my experience enough. Thank you so much!

I am so happy with my tattoo that I got over the summer from Ceoraink. This was my second tattoo by her and it was a big piece. I was a little nervous but Sam executed the design perfectly. Although I had a few issues with scheduled appointments with Sam, it was definitely worth the wait because it allowed me to create a concrete vision of what I wanted. I feel that those scheduling issues had to happen and I'm oh so glad they did. There is a comment from K H. I hope people don't use that as leverage to not use Sam. I think K H is only upset about her own choices and taking it out of Sam. Just check out Sam's work on her instagram. It's obvious she is by far one of the most talented artist in LA. Everyone i recommended to her couldn't be more happy with their decision.

    Mandala/sacred geometry

I had my first tattoo (mandala/sacred geometry) done by Ceora a little over two weeks ago and I have to say that it was an absolutely wonderful experience! Her private studio that she works out of is nothing short of magical and will give you a sense of peace whilst getting your piece. Ceora herself is also an absolute sweetheart which helped tremendously throughout the process. Also understand that she has lots of clients and does all this by herself so be patient; it's worth the wait. If you are looking for your first tattoo or adding a new one you will not regret coming to her!

Yelp can be tricky, because it is so subjective. But in my case, I believe Yelp is an important forum to share experiences so that others can make informed decisions, especially for something as permanent as a tattoo. I had a tattoo appointment with Samantha on Dec. 1, and against all my better judgment and intuition, I went through with the appointment. I'll explain. Red Flag #1 (Unresponsive) This was my first tattoo. I was on a waiting list for another geometric tattoo artist at Studio City Tattoo for over a year. I was getting antsy and starting looking for another geometric tattoo artist in LA and came across Ceora Ink on Yelp. I got in touch with Samantha and booked the appointment. The Friday before my Monday appointment I tried to get in touch with Samantha to confirm and to ask some questions. I called, emailed and texted. No response. I figured that I didn't have an appointment anymore and I should go back to the drawing board. Finally, late morning of the appointment, Samantha finally confirmed with me, but she wasn't sure what my design way. She thought it was "just a triangle" even though I had provided her with my reference photo via email and text when booking the appointment. I told her I thought her lack of communication was extremely unprofessional and wanted to cancel the appointment. After some back and forth, she eventually apologized and convinced me to come anyway to just talk about the tattoo with "no pressure." Red Flag #2 (Inaccurate) Samantha had my design drawn out when I got there and put the stencil on my skin. The proportions of the tattoo were clearly incorrect. She said it was symmetrical, but after breaking out the ruler, it was clear the proportions were way off. After she re-drew the design and made some other adjustments, we put another stencil on. The design is hard to look at for too long and after it was so glaringly incorrect the first time, I should have just left right then and there. Red Flag $3 (Pushy) Samantha was extremely pushy, telling me that I had waited this long to get the tattoo and that I was ready. She asked what my friends thought; of course my friends were supportive of my tattoo. I should have left with the stencil on, but I took a massive and unfortunate leap of faith. I trusted that Samantha was a skilled enough tattoo artist to accurately replicate the simple geometric tattoo exactly as the reference photo. I was wrong. She did the tattoo... I didn't even look at it until I got home, and when I did, my heart sank. The geometry on the tattoo is noticeably off. I have never in my life experienced feelings of regret and remorse like I did after I got this tattoo. My heart was completely broken. Red Flag #4 (Combative) A few days after the tattoo, I was finally ready to confront Samantha about the mistake. I'll take full responsibility for my part of the mistake - I should have left when I didn't feel comfortable. I measured and measured the tattoo, but I should have just kept the stencil on and looked at it with fresh eyes in the morning. I signed off on a tattoo when I should not have. But Samantha drew the tattoo inaccurately. The fact that my tattoo is not right is partially her fault. Samantha would take no ownership of the mistake; she would not even acknowledge how clearly the symmetry is off, or how it is clearly different from the reference photo. Not only would she take no ownership of the mistake, but she threatened to "take legal action" against me if I wrote anything negative about her business. Her handling of my complaint was rude, unprofessional and downright nasty. Red Flag #5 (Thinks she's a mental health professional) Not only would Samantha admit no wrongdoing and threatened to sue me for writing anything about my experience, she also made bogus claims about my mental state, saying she was some kind of healer. My tattoo was to cover up self-inflicted scars, but the scars, and whatever emotional state they represent, have nothing to do with the facts about this horrible tattoo experience. Samantha is in no way, shape, or form qualified to make any assessment about my mental health. She is not my therapist, she is not my spiritual guide or healer, she is just a woman with a tattoo gun who was unable to accurately replicate the tattoo design that I wanted onto my skin. Photos of the reference photo provided to Samantha, my tattoo and the text threat she sent me are all here. If you do decide to get tattooed by Samantha be EXTRA CAREFUL to double-check her work.

    Ceora Ink -healing protection-

Upon entering Ceora Ink you feel an energy you don't get from most ink slingers. I know as I've apprenticed and worked in a few tattoo establishments. As an apprentice and piercer I have not collected much ink. I am into the ritual and the essence behind the why I choose to infuse my skin with any mark. It must have meaning and be involved in a ritual of personal growth and evolving of my soul on this human journey. I have a large Celtic piece that protects me from death and have had Samantha, the ink healer, infuse my skin with protection and healing over my heart chakra. It involved ceremony and ritual of communicating intentions and meditating of my soul purpose and gathering the strength and love to ground myself. ...and the ink flowed and as it did every cell in my body felt the darkness lift and the drive for opening a scarred heart. It is important you know a part of my method of choosing to be tattoo'd. I take it to heart ;-) Samantha is a brilliant artist, healer, inkist, among the many other beautiful talents she gifts this world with. Her space is peaceful yet set up with purpose, clean and organized, the equipment she uses isn't loud and her touch is a firm yet soft hand. The healing ink is one of the top things that compelled me to have work done by Samantha. Her spiritual balance and centered spirit are paired with her artistic talent. I had my tattoo done the night before I left Los Angeles on an airplane for the next part of my journey. The amazing ness that has opened up to me is beyond words and my gratitude is exponential. Ceora Ink = flying ace! AAA+++

So far I have gotten five tattoos with Ceora! I arrived in Los Angeles a few years ago and did a search online to find a tattoo artist who is innovative in their creative articulation as well as having the right energy. Inking has been such a ceremony/ritual for me that it was important for the tattoo artist to be aligned with the same understanding. With Ceora, not only is she immaculate with the designs, there were times during our sessions that I almost fell asleep because of her healing touch. Attached is the beautiful work done by Ceora and I am looking forward to many more with her!

I finally went ahead and booked a virtual consultation (being in San Diego). From the very beginning of the process, submitting the request to book, through the consultation itself, and coming in to get the tattoo, I had the most amazing experience. I felt comfortable that I was in the hands of the best team at this shop. Rob was super responsive with scheduling and questions. June created a beautiful design based on my references and feedback and added little touches that made it even better. When I showed up to my appointment, I was a little anxious, but it was such a cozy, beautiful studio and I felt welcomed and at ease by Rob and June. June took such great care to cover up the scars I wanted covered and make it look beautiful and flow well with the natural curves of my leg, and made sure I was comfortable throughout. After she finished her work, she brought out the professional camera to get the best pictures possible and promptly sent them to me the same night. You can tell she takes pride in her work (as she should!) I will absolutely be back for more tattoos in the future, and maybe add more to my leg sleeve. It was definitely worth the drive from San Diego to work with the right artist who made my vision come true!

I wanted a tiger paired with specific florals (forget-me-nots, honeysuckle, and narcissus paperwhites) all kept above the elbow. Angie brought my vision to life more beautifully than I could have imagined. The process at Baron Art was seamless. After submitting a consultation form, I heard back within 1-2 days and coordinated everything with Cat (Angie's assistant) via email. Cat was wonderful, detailed, and quick to reply. On the day of my appointment, I received digital aftercare instructions after I checked in. Before starting, Angie was incredibly patient. She adjusted the tiger's scale on her iPad to match my arm and printed several stencils to ensure the size and placement was just right. She then freehanded the florals, precisely incorporating the negative space I requested to keep the design from feeling too heavy. Angie is incredibly talented and has a light touch. Even the pain in the inner bicep area was manageable. She made sure I was comfortable throughout the 4 hour session, and the result was perfect. This piece means so much to me and is very close to my heart, as it's a memorial for my mom who passed away recently. The forget-me-nots were her favorite flowers, and the narcissus paperwhites and honeysuckle are our birth flowers. The tiger was the first stuffed animal that my parents bought for me when we first immigrated to the US. It was my "guardian" throughout my childhood. Angie, thank you very much for your kindness and for creating such a meaningful, beautiful piece. This was the first of two sessions, and I already love it so much--I can't wait to see how it turns out! Some notes: - Snacks: I brought along Gatorade and was sipping on it before and during my session. I ate some candy and had a protein bar during the breaks too. It helped so much to keep my blood sugar up. - Vibe: So relaxing! The studio was spacious, and they were playing a throwback playlist from like the 2010s lol. I was vibing out and didn't even use the earbuds I brought! Everyone was so friendly too! Throughout the session, I noticed a couple artists stopped by to admire Angie's work as she was doing the tiger :) - Parking: parking in this location wasn't actually too bad. There's a structure about a 5 min walk away from the studio down the street. Just turn right into the little street where the Arrow Lodge Brewing is at. Go in a little bit, and it's on the left hand side. If you reach S Santa Fe Ave, you've gone too far!
