My friend and I were looking around for a tattoo shop for our first tattoos. We walked into Oni Tattoo on Saturday and Sam @tatt.chi was able to take my friend. He wanted double bands around his forearm and Sam was able to sketch it out and do the tattoo on the same day. We were in and out within 1.5 hours. He explained the process and aftercare which made getting a tattoo seamless and less daunting. I was on the fence about getting a tattoo but my friend said if he got one I would have to get one too. I decided to get a runner with an ekg as I thought it was fitting for me. I wanted something small for my first tattoo and easily to keep hidden from my mom (sorry mom). He asked me to send him a picture of what I wanted and scheduled an appointment for Monday at 11am. Once Monday came I walked over and signed the consent form. He then printed out the tattoo and placed the outline on my chest and asked me if it was where I wanted it. Being a tattoo noob I trusted his judgement. After letting the outline dry I laid down and he began working on the piece. He said since it was a small tattoo and mainly lines there shouldn't be much pain and the healing process wouldn't be as long. It took about 30 mins to finish up the tattoo and the quality came out amazing. There was no pain at all and he went over the aftercare as well. I showed Sam this other tattoo I wanted and he said he would be able to do that as well. He says his art style is realism and anime so I can't wait to get more work done by him. He has been tattooing for 2 years now along with his apprenticeship. He told me to message him when I'm ready for my next piece. It had been a while. I love tattoos but my last piece - which was huge - I got for such an amazing price that I just couldn't bring myself to get spendy unless I really fell in love. And fall in love I did. I have so many quirky interests, I didn't know what to get. All I knew for sure is that I wanted to cover my first small symbol on my ankle with a snake. I just never saw any snakes I liked as they often are more "tough" looking than elegantly dangerous like I wanted. When a friend just got a half sleeve and told me about her artist, Danielle Skye. I starting following her IG page and it took all of fifteen minutes of perusing to find a gorgeous snake that was as beautiful as it was dangerous and super feminine without being girly (does that make sense). This snake was sensual. And I knew my 8 year break from getting inked was about to end - and quickly. The homie let me know the general price range, so I make sure I had enough saved and reached out to Danielle. Her assistant Levi talked me through the process and we agreed on a date, I made a deposit, and within a few weeks I was on Danielles table. She hand draws the art directly on the skin, so I was able to make changes and adjustments, and then punched that ink in so gently and so quickly that I honestly can't believe it only took a few hours. To say I am happy with Danielle's work is an understatement. She is worth every penny plus and her skills both artistically and in application are top notch. read more

He was providing professional expertise in consultation over instagram, tattooing beautiful peonies art around my dragon with delicacy, retouching my dragon to make it less wonky-looking.. I felt so comfortable being tattooed by Derek. He is compromising and so fun to work with! The tattoo shop ambience is fun as well. It is not your typical walk-in tattoo shop where it's all bright and outdated. Each artist have sections with creative, personal touches, and the common area feels like a gamer bachelor pad. I came here about 2 years ago for a Friday the 13th flash tattoo event. While the wait time was extremely long (12+ hours), staff were all very professional and had an efficient system to ensure everyone who waited got the opportunity to get tattooed. Though I can't speak to what the flash events have been like as of late, the procedure at the time was that clients were randomly assigned to an artist regardless of what flash tattoo they chose. I was tattooed by Danny (shop owner) and he was very sweet. This was my first tattoo and he made the experience very pleasant- minimal to no pain. The inside of the shop was spacious and clean, and everyone was super welcoming. Artists also gave aftercare instructions and were happy to answer any questions. My tattoo has since healed fairly well with an average amount of care. Definitely would recommend Oni for anyone looking for a welcoming tattoo spot in the SGV! read more

This was an overall great experience. I got a tiger realism tattoo done by Stacy. She was easy to reach and really open to addressing any questions or concerns I had with the flash design prior to scheduling. The studio is clean and a friendly environment. She was really patient and allowed me time to think about the size of the piece and where I placed it. After confirming the size of the stencil, I was able to connect with Stacy and chat throughout the multi-hour session while listening to a great variety of tracks. Other artists provided feedback for her to create the best tattoo possible which was cool, especially since I had darker skin. Stacy was really patient and kind and she also encouraged me to take breaks if needed. Audrey and Dan were also able to show how to improve my piece which was great. I appreciated Audrey also asking if I was hungry when she went out to 85 degrees. I was also offered water and snacks throughout the day. The session was longer than expected but watching the artists play Super Smash before switching Lilo and Stitch made time fly by quick. It was great to learn about each artist speciality and talk to them personally, in case I wanted something in the future. After wrapping it up and taking pictures, Stacy clearly communicated aftercare and encouraged me to reach out with any concerns. I'd definitely come back again. read more

I've gotten tattoos from 3 artists at Oni now (Audrey, Tacho, and Ray) and have had nothing but excellent experiences with them & Oni Tattoo in general! I came for August's Friday the 13th flash tattoo event and walked away totally satisfied despite the 12+ hour wait. All of the staff are troopers and banged out tats for 18 hours (from 10 AM - 3 AM) to ensure as many people were serviced as humanly possible, which they definitely did not have to do. The way they were managing the experience was also done in a way where we didn't have to wait in the hot sun all day, and could just come back when our numbers were closer to being called, which my group really appreciated. I got my selected flash done by Ray, which I was ecstatic about, and had an awesome experience just chatting with him about tattooing, manga, anime, and the like! I'm looking forward to potentially getting tattooed by him again in the future once I figure out what panels/scenes I want :-) I've also gone to Tacho and Audrey for multiple pieces, and both of them are so sweet, professional, and awesome at what they do. I loved my experiences getting tattooed by them and never felt pressured, uncomfortable, or rushed in any way. All the pieces I've gotten from them have healed wonderfully and look amazing! When I'm back on the market for more tats, I'll be back to see Tacho, Audrey, and Ray again, and will hopefully book with some of the other artists here in the future. I went in for a tattoo appointment with Danny on May 23rd. It was easy to contact Danny to discuss what I wanted (a chrysanthemum on my sternum). Everything was clear and concise from the beginning and I fell in love with the piece Danny came up for me. Although I was nervous about the pain Danny worked me and gave me sufficient breaks (as needed) to complete the piece. Within 2 hours I had an appt set, for the next day, with their apprentice, Stacy! Initially, I was very concerned about getting tattooed by an apprentice but, I was entirely wrong about judging her skill-set and professionalism. When I got into the shop she greeted me warmly and showed me the drawing for the hand and without any complaint made adjustments to the art, though I know it was tedious and added time to our appt. Throughout the session she constantly made sure I was comfortable and checked the tattoo for any adjustments or feedback I had. I really enjoyed how open minded and considerate she was about my tattoo, knowing the backstory. My Libra constellation tattoo was done by Dan, and I absolutely fell in love with it! I was worried that it was going to be hard to make the lines so delicate and thin, but Dan did it, and in less than 10 minutes too. It turned out exactly how I imagined. I was so impressed with his line work and he even did some light stippling around the stars, which was a nice touch to make them pop. Overall, my experience with Dan was great.
