When their workers even tell you their customer service is bad that says a lot. They cheated me out of $150 five years ago and still to this date never reimbursed me and only gave me excuses. Called to question a bill that had been paid but wasn't shown on the statement and was charged a late fee. In over 10 years of never being late, was told " we don't refund late fees" I asked for a supervisor and was told the same thing, only much more rudely! I then cancelled my service on the same call. It took 4 months & countless calls, even provided proof, just cleared up last statement still showing with only the late fee showing!! Had to point out to the customer service that the payment was showing on the statement that it was received before the due date before he finally gave the credit for a " late fee"!!! I've been a CenturyLink customer for over 5 years, paying my bill on time every single month. When I recently moved less than one mile away from my old address, I called just one day after my new billing cycle started to transfer service. That's when I was told they don't even provide internet at my new address. Frustrating, but I tried to be understanding until they told me they wouldn't refund a single penny of the payment I just made for a full month of service I can't even use. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable, just basic fairness. To make things worse, both Jeremy C and another representative were shockingly rude and dismissive. When I called them out for their attitude, they actually defended their behavior, saying they "know how to treat customers" because they've "been in customer service for 17 years." I was stunned that's exactly what good customer service should not look like. After five years of loyalty, this experience made it clear CenturyLink doesn't care about their customers only about policies and payments. I'll never recommend them to anyone again. If you're considering signing up with them, don't. Save yourself the frustration and find a provider that actually respects the people paying the bills. read more

Had the fiber wifi installed and its not even strong enough to get into bedrooms on the same floor in a small house, 20 yards from the modem! Just spent 40 minutes on Chat Help getting transferred FIVE Times, with each transfer again asking for account number, email, phone number, etc. and then asking what the problem is again. There only response was for us to purchase a wifi extender! PURCHASE??? So the service you advertised, and the service the technician promised us, and the service we are paying for isn't working as agreed upon...so you want us to pay more???? Come on, Century Link, you guys are better than this!!!!! I understand right now you guys are the only service in town, or in Eagle ID, but there's going to come to a point when someone's going to come in and offer better-trained staff, a much better onboarding process for new customers, and a system of automation that actually works. Unfortunately, the automated system was a complete waste of time; I will say your customer service agents were kind, and we're sincerely apologetic about that whole process but were unable to help me as a new customer get my service established, which is a little bewildering. This company will have you go without phone and internet service for days and even weeks at a time while you are being told by a customer service rep that a tech will be at your house from 8 am to 5 pm to restore service. My dad passed away. September 5, 2022. I log into the shared account I have with my dad. The CenturyLink website states you can cancel your service via the web. After being transferred by chat 3 times "to the right person" I was told only 1 of the services can be cancelled (had phone and internet). Sept 6, 2022. Called the service # given to cancel all services. After 3 transfers I reached a tech who asked the reason I wanted to cancel (reasonable question). I stated my dad had passed and the services were no longer needed. What happened next blew me away - she tried to sell me services, keep me as a valued customer, etc. I told her multiple times that my dad had passed, no services were needed, even down to the point that she is talking over me while I am stating this. What is wrong with this picture CenturyLink? Your bottom line is so important that you train your techs to ignore all decency for a buck? Note that I finally got the 2 services cancelled on September 6, 2022. BUT I WILL BE BILLED UNTIL OCT 1, 2022. All services cancelled should be prorated. Cheryl Rudd read more

I can not believe how ridiculous this company is. My mom hasn't had phone service in 6 days! They said they would be there yesterday. My mom stayed home all day. They never showed. When we called them they kept saying they would come later. Next day, NEVER SHOWED UP! I called them and they said due to the fires her phone was down. Bull! I live next door and mine is fine. Three day's in a row so far without any internet at all or sufficient consistency so as to be able to accomplish much of anything. The issue was initially an "equipment malfunction" of some sort. Each day we have been told the issue would be resolved by a certain time only to have them fail to deliver or push the resolution time back further. This has made it impossible to work from home (kind of a big deal during COVID). I stupidly believed their latest promise for restoring service and purchased a UFC event, which I ended up having to stream via cellular on an iPad. It was great sitting huddled around the 13 inch screen and trying to hear. Thanks for that--well worth my money. Throughout the day, our signal has progressed from spotty and awful to completely nonfunctional. It is no surprise unfortunately. Many of my neighbors have switched from CenturyLink after having reported terrible service. CenturyLink, we pay you in full, on time and rely on your service. You are an internet provider. How about PROVIDING THE INTERNET?!? So aggravating. We're going to be forced to shop for an alternative. My first call Monday morning will be to a competitor. Cebtury link is a terrible ISP. They throttle speeds, have massive problems with user security (leek user info for $$) they have constant drops and outages that have lasted as long as several days. From what I hear they treat their workers awful as well. Century link is hot garbage literally the worst ever but it's the only ISP that provides unlimited data where I live. So I'm stuck until I move. Total trash company only reason they have customers is because they run a monopoly. read more

So, I didn't actually go in to this store. I called Customer Service responding to an email regarding an "internet for life" offer. Deanna, from Springfield MO helped set me up and was delightful to work with. At the end of our interaction I asked if there were any other loyalty perks I might be eligible for. She sent me to the Retention Department where a gentleman answered the call. Unfortunately I have forgotten his name but he did mention that he had recently moved to Boise! He was also quite charming and, indeed had a decent offer for me! I am quite pleased at lowering my monthly bill by $19 and locking that price in for life! (As long as I remain a "customer in good standing".) I rarely have a rewarding experience with most customer service departments but, in spite of having marginal speed on my internet, I'm pleased with the outcome this time and am content to remain a loyal customer! read more

I will never do business again with Century Link. About a year ago I called to cancel my internet services and they offered me a discounted rate to keep me as a customer. A year goes by and I notice that my rate had jumped back to the normal price. I called the billings department and told them that I wanted my agreed upon pricing back on my account and they refused. They stated that I should have noticed the disclaimer on my bill that stated it was only going to last for 12 months. They kept telling me that it was my responsibility to understand the disclaimers and that they wouldn't take responsibility for what their rep sold me. I have had nothing but problems with Centurylink right from the start. From setting me up on an account I didn't ask for, to over charge if me half the time. They say they are going to do one thing and then the next time you call the person you talk to has no record or any idea what you're talking about. The service is slow and unreliable. When I finally got fed up and decided to cancel they charged me an early cancellation fee. I didn't like it but I understood and paid it; or at least I tried to pay it. The company didn't take the payment and then didn't send out a bill. 7 months later I get a bill from a collection agency say I owe them money for a bill from Centurylink. I hadn't received a bill or a phone call from Centurylink in 7 months. This came at a complete surprise because I thought that I had already paid my bill and was finally done with Centurylink. But they have a way of screwing you even when you don't have service with them. I'll never go back, never. read more

Do yourself a favor and choose another provider. First of all, our wifi is pretty terrible. We've been told we'll have to buy a new router (from a third party) to have acceptable wifi. If that weren't bad enough, I have been trying to chat with Century Link for over 65 minutes now and just keep getting the runaround. I am merely trying to move service to my new home, less than 4 miles away. I have now had CenturyLink for over a year now, I am on auto pay and paperless billing to help SAVE CENTURY LINK money (YES HELP THEM) and since April I have had not stop problems with my bill and no one is willing to help AT ALL... I have been Calling and Chatting with people (incompetent people) that have the answer of I DONT KNOW and THEY TELL ME THIS WORD FOR WORD.. For over 3 months this issue is not getting resolved, I have tried to contact the corporate office with NO RESPONSE AT ALL.. Last night I spoke with a gentleman for over 2 hours online for him to tell me "I DO NOT HAVE ANSWER FOR YOU/ IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN HELP YOU WITH?" Are you kidding me 2 hours of my time when I have to work graveyards and needed sleep I was talking to this guy with NO RESOLUTION.. Then today I have been on the phone since 4:00 PM MST and still trying to get an answer at 6:00 PM MST.. I have been transferred 7 Times... No MANAGERS ARE WILLING TO GET ON THE PHONE.. I even was transferred to the Spanish department I mean REALLY.. where does " PLEASE TRANSFER ME TO A MANAGER" means "TRANSFER ME TO THE SPANISH DEPARTMENT"... I have all the peoples names that I have talked to in just today.. And after being on the phone after 25-30 minutes at a time, I GET HUNG UP ON.. I am being charged over $125.00 for a plan that I never was put on.. I was supposed to be on a $19.99 plan since April and now it is July and based on the math that should have been done on my account it should have been 6 months of payments for them and they are telling me that the payment I just made of over $125.00 is for one month of just internet service.. REALLY!! I mean come on.. Apparently they do not want LOYAL customers that are willing to stay with the company for many years.. I have never been so frustrated in my entire life and I work in a call center so I KNOW THE RULES.. So it is now 6:15 and still waiting for someone to re answer my call because I keep getting hung up on.... I had high hopes for CenturyLink, after being told they were good internet provider. First of all, we contracted them at one rate and were billed at another with additional fees not mentioned during signing. They guys who signed us up actually told us that the wireless router sucks and we should probably buy a better one. Then we had to wait two weeks for a "technician to come out and hook it up." TWO WEEKS?!?! Without internet? Gimme a break! Then when the time came and went (and several calls and promises that "Someone would be there") for our hook up, someone FINALLY tells us, "Oh, you should have service now. No one has to come hook it up, we turn it on from here." WHAT?!?! WHY DID I HAVE TO WAIT TWO WEEKS FOR SOMEONE TO FLIP A SWITCH?!?!? Several issues occurred during our service, such as added fees, the requirement to sign up for two things online to get the promised price, all of this at the disruption of normal life, which is hectic enough. In the event of a move, we were told that no fees or secrets awaited us to move the service. Until it came time to move and we were THEN told we needed to renew our contract?!? Then we got the runaround at the call center, were passed between several people who were "looking up our info" and were kept on hold for over 90 minutes. Eventually my phone died and I haven't talked myself down enough to have a reason able conversation with their reps. Plus I don't want to be on hold for another hour. The one positive mention is that the service provided wasn't bad, which is the only reason I have refrained from using bad words in this review. Whatever you do do not use Century link! I have been on the phone for over an hour and a half trying to get them to remove the home phone and associated charges they put on in error when we signed on a month ago! I was transferred incorrectly 5 times, disconnected twice, and had to listen to employees yelling inappropriate things in the background. Apparently they can't stand working there either! We ordered a TV & Internet package over the phone to be installed on our move in day. 2 days before I called up to check as I had heard nothing and they told me I was scheduled for 3 weeks later! After going back and forward I got to speak with a supervisor who informed me point blank the original agent I spoke with had outright lied to me and I was not going to get Internet or they service on the day promised, on top of that the guy had misquoted me by $15 a month. I am SO EXCITED! THRILLED is another word that can be used. Pretty much ECSTATIC. Much like Chris Matthews when he saw our ex POTUS, there is a THRILL running down my leg. Why might you ask? It's simple: On Saturday a [competitor] (it appears they flag certain words here and that competitors name appears to be one) will be here to install phone and internet and I will FOREVER be rid of having to deal with the most amateur hour telecommunications company I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with... CenturyLink. Leaving an 11 year customer (multiple services mind you!), who does his business out of his home office exclusively, high and dry with NO PHONE and NO INTERNET SERVICE what so ever for 6 full days... all the while LYING to about when the tech would be out on three separate occasions... has demonstrated the fact that CenturyLink does not care about it's customers, and with amazing clarity. Moved to Idaho and signed up with CenturyLink. Had some issues with the internet. Called and set up an appointment for a technician to come. He was supposed to be here at 9:15 a.m. We waited all day and he never showed up. I called at 3:00 and they said he was delayed and would be here at 6:00. At 5:00 I get an email saying that he came but found the house "inaccessible." He lied. He never came. Apparently, he wanted to get home early the night before the 4th and made up some excuse for his boss. CenturyLink did nothing. Then they wanted me to start all over explaining the problem concerning my modem disconnecting when they already had the information. Now it will probably be another week or two before they come and fix my problem. Horrible customer service and they don't even care. read more

Centurylink has far been the worst provider I have ever dealt with. Terrible customer service, long wait time, numerous hang ups and hours and hours of my life I will never get back. I had many issues of being told one price and being billed for something different. They would just tell me to bad and they could not change the contract which I never signed up for. Words can't even express how bad they are to deal with. I am about the most easy going person and seldom write reviews, but I would consider them the worst of the worst and I have had many business dealings over the last thirty years and nothing has actually come close to how terrible Centurylink is. I thought they might actually be better when they switched from Quest, but I was clearly wrong. I would concur with the other reviews that their router sucks, service sucks, billing sucks.
