I typically do not write reviews, but after being a loyal client of this business for approximately two years, I feel compelled to document my recent experience for anyone considering becoming a client. My concern is not with the massage services themselves, but with the conduct and business decisions of one of the owners. I was extremely uncomfortable when the owner chose to involve me, as a client, in deeply personal issues and conflict involving her spouse and business partner. I was told personal details about their relationship, the business separation, and her intentions regarding the other owner. None of this was appropriate or relevant to me as a client, and I should never have been placed in the middle of an internal dispute. What concerned me most was the apparent inability to separate personal emotions from professional responsibilities. Whatever issues may exist between two spouses are personal matters. Once those issues begin influencing business decisions, staffing, client relationships, scheduling, and the overall client experience, it becomes a business concern. As a longtime client, I was particularly disappointed by the lack of transparency surrounding the changes that followed. A massage therapist I had regularly seen was suddenly removed from the schedule and replaced, without what I felt was appropriate communication to the clients who had established ongoing relationships with her. Clients should not have to discover major changes to their provider through the schedule or simply show up and realize that things have changed. I also found it troubling that personal conflict appeared to extend into the business's public-facing social media. As a client, I should not be exposed to indirect public commentary or personal disputes between business owners. It creates an uncomfortable and unprofessional environment and makes clients question whether business decisions are being made objectively. This experience has been especially disappointing because I genuinely valued this business and had been a loyal client for years. I believe business owners have a responsibility to protect the client experience even when personal circumstances are difficult. Personal disagreements should not become the client's burden, and business decisions should be based on professionalism, communication, and what is best for the business and its clients--not personal emotions or retaliation. I am sharing this because prospective clients deserve to know that the quality of a business is influenced by more than the service being provided. Leadership, professionalism, communication, and the ability to handle internal conflict appropriately matter too. I sincerely hope the owner chooses to separate personal matters from business operations moving forward, because the clients should not be the ones caught in the middle. Stumbled upon this gem and I'm never leaving! I've only had the privilege to go twice but each time Lyn's magic hands have helped release so much tension and soothed my chronic pain. I was referred to Rob by a friend of mine who had gotten great results. I started seeing him on a regular basis over a year ago. He has been trying to rebalance my body after 40 years of "positional trauma " due to my profession. He is very knowledgeable in various aspects of massage and can find areas that are troublesome even when I think the problem is coming from somewhere else...for example, my knee pain was from tightness in my hip! I saw Lynn once on an emergency basis,too, when my neck and shoulders went into spasm.She really worked them out and got them to relax enough that I could then work on them at home.She was fantastic, just like Rob. I've been in twice now for a Swedish deep tissue with Robert (#60 Clear Coat & Buff is what they call this service) and it's been an excellent experience both times. I've had over a dozen good massage experiences in the Seattle area, but this place was a new level of professional and thorough. Robert zoned in on problem areas (probably arising from my work as a stocker lifting heavy items) and worked them until they were fully addressed. I've been coming to Century Massage for over a year now and highly recommend it. Everyone there is warm and friendly, and the office is nicely decorated and comfortable. There's plenty of easy parking, too. As a plus size woman, I really appreciate that Lyn treats me and my body exactly the way she'd treat a smaller person. I don't have to worry that she's secretly wrinkling her nose or anything. Lyn is very practical, fantastic at remembering my preferences and persistently achy spots from session to session, and great at listening to what I need at each session and working on those specific spots. Her massage style is pretty firm, but not painful. Definitely more therapeutic than the gentle-touch spa-style massage, which I like.
