The man helping me took me to the floor tile, and let me browse for a few minutes. Before I get to the tile. I just want to say, I felt very uncomfortable. The place lots like it's more for businesses, mansions, estate etc. Not so much for the average home owner. They did allow me to browse a little and the one tile that I really loved was $87 a square foot. (See picture). Like I said, I felt like I was in the wrong place. Honestly, it was just me. We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

Our renovation was a complicated project, as it involved removing load bearing walls, adding support beams to the house's framing, and relocating a significant amount of plumbing and HVAC that services other areas of the house. My positive experiences with REICO was largely due to the people I worked with there. You will have a designer and a contractor assigned to your project. I highly recommend Lisa G. as the designer and Michael McD. as the contractor. They were a solid team that coordinated every step of the project and they have extensive experiences working together. The success of the project was highly dependent on them. Lisa was in charge of helping us design the kitchen and then coordinating the various stages of construction with the contractor. She was very knowledgeable about everything and was helpful in recommending design features. We met with her often to discuss the project and she came out to our house several times to take measurements, meet with our architect, and check in on the progress of the construction. The contractor was a master at his craft. We encountered a few unknown hurdles through the project, which we successfully navigated largely due to his recommendations and expertise. The quality of this contractor's work exceeded our expectations and he was able to complete the project within the promised time frame of 6-8 weeks. We were concerned about dust and he built a temporary wall to contain the dust, which went above and beyond in my opinion. He cleaned up every day and left our house spotless. The contractor completed the kitchen as close to perfection as you can get! REICO came recommended to me by a co-worker who had similar positive experiences with them. In terms of price, they weren't the cheapest but they were also not the most expensive. Their prices were competitive with other quotes we received. We chose them mostly on our comfort level with the people mentioned above, and we were glad we did. We did have a few very minor issues with the cabinets, which were damaged in shipment. They replaced them with no questions asked. Kitchen renovations will be one of the more stressful experiences you can have as a homeowner. All in all, our project wasn't stressful and proceeded as close to perfection as you can get. These positive experiences are what compelled me to write this review. We were extremely clear that the seating needed to be unobstructed--essentially, a counter-height table extension from the cabinets. The final design we approved included an apron, but no measurements were provided to explain how it would impact stool clearance. The rendering even showed five stools at the island, which gave us confidence that it would work as intended. Unfortunately, that was a huge mistake. Because of a poorly designed apron, it is physically impossible to fit standard counter-height stools under the island. The clearance is so low that no stool exists that both fits under the island and allows you to sit and eat comfortably. In other words, the centerpiece of our kitchen--the island seating--is a total failure. It is appalling that a professional kitchen designer would overlook such a basic and critical detail. We assumed we could trust her expertise, but that assumption has left us with an island that cannot function as designed and no reasonable options to fix it without a major renovation. If you are considering working with this company, be warned: do not assume the designer has considered the practical details. Double-check every measurement yourself, because we learned the hard way that they do not.
