As some…read morebackground, my friend was obsessed with this & was hoping to check out what French firefighters were all about. From what I can tell, they are a cool bunch. While we were in Paris, there was some commemoration in front of Hotel-Ville that had to do with firefighters. They had antique engines manned by retired firefighters, a band and an appearance by the Firefighters Gymnastic Team. You heard me - they have a gymnastic team - and they were really good. Our last day was on the Paris Semi, which passed right down Rue St Antoine. Even though it was cold, windy and pouring rain, the whole engine company turned out to cheer on the runners. They were out there for hours, yelling "Allez!" and giving high fives. They made my friend's vacation more than memorable!

It's a really cool and old fire station! Even though we could not communicate very much (I don't speak French and nobody spoke English), they were very attentive and took me for a walk around the station! Anywhere you go in the world, firefighters are the finest!! Thank you Pompiers!!

What a great experience at Le Foodist. This was booked for us through "My Private Paris", as a…read moremorning market tour and cooking class for lunch. Luc was our guide and chef, and did a really great job. We enjoyed shopping for ingredients at the market just a few blocks away from the Le Foodist kitchen. Once back to the kitchen, Luc gave us the run down of what we would be making. Instructions were clear, and we all worked together to put a 3 course lunch together. I even learned a few cool new techniques such as a simple "sous vide" by tightly wrapping chicken in plastic wrap and cooking in hot water. Fun, educational and delicious. They offer a variety of different classes and I would highly recommend when visiting Paris.

We did the market and cooking class tour. This was such an amazing experience. I'm so glad we did…read morethis. Went to a higher end market with fish counter and La Fromagerie. The fish are all labeled as to where caught & manner caught. La Fromagerie was amazing. We took the metro and a short walk to Le Foodist store where the cooking magic happened. We made onion soup, potatoes so gratin, something similar to a Coq au Vin, a pear with chocolate ganache and vanilla bean ice cream. It was an amazing evening. The cooking class was definitely a working class. The whole time & totally worth it. The food was so good. The chef was awesome. Would definitely recommend this experience & would definitely do it again.
