It was interesting though to see all the other places on this bridge people try to place their locks, like lampposts, on the construction fence, etc. It seems the new 'it' place to put your love locks on is over in Montmartre at the Basilica du Sacre Couer.

We wanted to go to Le Pont des Arts to add a love lock.... But we were too scared lol As we know you are not supposed to do that anymore. And let's be real here; my fiancé could not survive in jail lol Heck, I don't know how I would do in French jail lolol We decided to play it safe (in another country and all) and admire the bridge from a far. I knew if we got close, I would be tempted to break the rules lol It is a beautiful bridge. We passed right by it on the way to the Louvre. It's a famous bridge that you must at least see. Ahh Paris... L'amour est comme le vent, nous ne savons pas d'où il vient... Love is like the wind... On my way to Musée Rodin serendipity brought me to Sainte-Clotilde de Paris. A Basilica in the French Gothic Revival style. Simply breathtaking. Located at Square Samuel Rousseau in the 7th arrondissement... the Catholic Basilica overwhelms the small park opened to the public in 1857. The wonderful statue, L'Education maternelle, dedicated in 1875, faces the Basilica. The 226-feet twin spires can be seen from a mile away. And the story of Abbé Bernard Bouveresse, a leader in the French Resistance resonates here. Between the two Gothic towers, a statue of St. Clotilde watches over Paris like a latter day St. Geneviève. In the end, Sainte-Clotilde de Paris is a memorable stop on the way to the more famous landmarks. Not as legendary as Notre-Dame de Paris or as historic as L'église de la Madeleine just across the Seine, but nonetheless a masterpiece of French Gothic Revival... Love is like the wind... In a town where there are tons of national police officers looking for terrorists, they do nothing when tourists are swarmed by gypsies and robbed. They are all around the place de la concord and they do nothing to stop the gypsies who swarm you to "sign your name". When you ask all the National police for help they don't care and send you off to find the local city police. Right next to big fountains at the place de la Concorde we were swarmed by gypsies, and all the vendors said the police do nothing and that the gypsies come by every 30 minutes and rob some more unsuspecting tourists. So why doesn't Paris police protect their tourists???? when we flagged down a city police car, they did nothing and told us to travel up the road on foot to file a report. When we got to the station everyone working there was nice to us, BUT THERE WERE MANY OTHER TOURISTS FILLING REPORTS THAT THEY TOO WERE ROBBED. Be careful folks, Paris is not safe

We enjoyed a most delightful 7 day Seine River cruise on a Gate1 Travel river cruise ship, their…read moreMonarch Countess.  We also spent 2 more days in Paris at the end and enjoyed other various Seine River scenes along the way.   The Seine is a major winding river way and we apparently went through 6 locks on the way out from Paris to the town of Caudebec-en-Caux in Normandy.  The water level was perfect for cruising (not too low and not too high) and in a quite fortuitous streak we also enjoyed 10 straight days in April here with nary a drop of rain!

Starting in the north of France, it drains to the Paris Basin flowing from Paris to the English Channel. So easy to explore bridges along the river. In Paris alone, there are 37 bridges. So nice to explore.
