My mother has a recurring booking to take her to and from church in Grimsby on Sundays. She is 92 and uses a walker. For the first couple of weeks the service was reliable. Over the next month, they periodically did not have a driver available at the required pickup time and showed up late. In the last two weeks they completely stranded her. I get a call 10 minutes before the pickup time that they "have no drivers", which is not helpful as I live in Toronto and cannot find anyone to take her on such short notice. This company advertised 24x7 service in Grimsby, but it appears they can't actually provide that level of service. it also seems that the drivers get to choose whether to take a fare or not, so some are choosing not to accept the fare even though it was prebooked several months ago. I have called in several times and requested that a manager or supervisor contact me, and no one ever calls back. I strongly recommend staying away from this company as they seem to feel that actually being able to provide the service is out of their control. read more

Total lack of communication between the company, dispatch & drivers. *** DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. *** I pre-booked 3 cabs for Dec 13, - 2 weeks prior for a company Christmas party. Phoned 3 times to get a confirmation by email, never did. Phoned to see if we could get an suv they said they can't guarantee it? Phoned on Dec 13 to get a 4th cab. I was to meet my bosses and colleagues for a welcome party introduction. The cabs were to pick us up at 5:15 pm. We also wanted to put a tip on our credit card. They had already processed payment for a service that did not happen. Starting around 4:30 a driver called me to say he would be an hour late. I told him unacceptable and asked why he was calling me instead of his dispatcher. That was the start, I was on the phone for the next 1.50 hrs with drivers & customer service every 2 minutes. I was not able to attend the welcome party due to this. I had every driver calling me and asking me where the pick up & drop off was. Blown away why drivers would not have this information. My boss asked due to chaos if we could leave at 5:30 pm. I called and due to the fact I was also getting text messages saying cabs were on their way we couldn't do that. No problem. Then they call me back & said they got ahold of the drivers and it was ok. I get 2 phone calls from driver saying they are there not ok to wait, they have other rides waiting. Another driver calling to see what time he should be there. As this was for a dinner show we could not be late. I told them to cancel the late driver I would call another company we can't be late why was this not organized 2 weeks ago when I booked it We ended up with two cabs only. We had to drive ourselves. While getting in the cab customer service calls me again 6 times I talked to them. To tell me third cab on its way. I told them to late we are gone. She starts being rude to me & asking why I didn't call to cancel the third cab. I told her how is it possible when I have been on the phone every two minutes for the past hour.She hung up me & proceeded to call the driver in the cab I was in & asks him if we need the extra cab. I said to him you heard me I just hung up from her. We arrive at venue and both drivers were looking for payment when we already prepaid. The worst experience I have ever had. I am an event planner & I will be sure to pass along to others totally unreliable company. No communication with drivers. Ruined my company Christmas party that I organized. Extremely upsetting & frustrating. They owe us our money back that they took before the service. They owe us all our money back for ruining what was to be a joyous celebration. They use to be the best. Not so much anymore. Alot of the drivers r really nice and this is not towards them. It's more towards the actual company. Never put ur bank card in the app cause they charge u 25 dollars everytime. Now I pay cash or debit. And they r always late cause they never have enough drivers. Even when u pre book a day on advance they make me late everyday I take them for work. I honestly recommend niagara taxi they r always on time and the dispatch is very nice and caring. And I still have not been reimbursed for my last 25 dollars they charged my card for a 12 dollar ride. read more

Deplorable! I booked a pick up and return almost 10 days in advance for my wheelchair bound 87 year old mother who suffers from dementia and lives in a long term care facility. My Mom had just moved to Beamsville after a very long re-location process and for the first time in 11 years, was finally coming home for Thanksgiving dinner. Given her medical issues, everything was choreographed around her wheelchair transportation from Central Taxi. On the day of her pick up I received a text message indicating the taxi had been dispatched and was on its way. After about 20 minutes I noticed the link they sent me didn't appear to be working so I called Central Taxi to inquire. It was 10 minutes before the scheduled pick up time for my mother who had already been dressed and was waiting to be picked up. At this time, the dispatch operator informed me they had no taxi available and furthermore, had no idea when a taxi would be available. I was absolutely stunned. Nobody bothered to call me and quite honestly, Central taxi dispatch couldn't have cared less if they tried. They asked if I still wanted to keep the return pick up which was 2 1/2 hours away and I said yes, not at all confident that a taxi would be available but perhaps they could somehow redeem themselves. Thankfully I had family available to assist with picking up my mother because I don't have the physical strength to lift her in and out of her wheelchair. During dinner I received a call from Central Taxi ....I'm sure you can probably guess....they had no taxi available for the return pick up that again, was booked almost 10 days in advance and confirmed 2 1/2 hours prior. After the whole fiasco I messaged Central with my complaint, explaining to them that its not at all within my nature to post a negative review and for this reason, wanted to first give them an opportunity to apologize and or somehow make it right. To this day I have yet to hear back from them, once again reinforcing my belief that they couldn't have cared less if they tried. For this reason I chose to post this negative review. It is completely unacceptable to treat elderly people this way, especially with lockdowns finally being lifted and the elderly once again having the opportunity to be with family after such extreme bouts of isolation. We ordered 2 van cabs from Central Taxi in advance for a wedding. The taxi services sent us a tracking they were 15minutes late. The taxi service did not show up. 12 of us were extremely late for a wedding, it was very disappointing and embarrassing. We were also booked for pick up at the wedding venue, the Taxi service, Central Taxi did not show up for our pick up booking. The 12 of us were again left stranded. I called on a Saturday morning and order 2 vans at different times. They knew there 5 people and they said yes. Both pick ups were late and both pick ups were not vans. They sent 2 cars each time. When we spoke to them, they lied and said, "we told you, it could be 2 cars." No one said that... at one point I ordered an Uber, because I wasn't sure if they were coming. Overall, I have to say most taxi companies in St. Catharines are very touch-and-go depending on who the driver or dispatcher is, but I had an experience with Central that takes the cake. During a heavy snowfall I was picked up by a man that was driving with his ELBOWS and rocking back and forth. After the car slid off the road for a moment he turned to me and said "good thing I'm an excellent driver." After this occurred I contacted central taxi to report how unsafe this driver was, but they refused to acknowledge what had occurred. read more

My mother in law took Central Taxi today to go to a doctor's appointment. The taxi was 30 minutes late getting to our apartment building. She asked the dispatcher for the taxi to be here at 1:45pm, it didn't arrive until 2:05pm. Her doctor's appointment was at 2:30pm. She arrived with 5 minutes to spare, she has to use a walker so byt the time she got into the doctor's office she was almost late. Then the taxi drove by the doctor's office twice before realizing where it was. The dispatcher was very rude to her and demanded the address of the office even though the doctor's office is on the sign of the plaza where it is located. She is no longer going to be taking Central Taxi as I will be driving her from now on. I couldn't take her today as I have arthritis in both hips and a bulging disc in my lower back. Avoid Central Taxi like the plague, the dispatchers are very rude to the customers and talk to them like they are idiots. read more

Don't know why there are so many negative reviews... all of the cab driver go through criminal screenings and the person who said "they got kidnapped" must have a few loose screws because the majority of people who are taking Central Taxi now of days either have a disability or mental issues and these poor taxi drivers have to deal with it. Also 9 times out of 10 the negative reviewers are probably the same ones who live off the governments money and are on Welfare checks while these innocent taxi drivers work night and day to provide a service for St.Catharines and Niagara region. I've had nothing but amazing experiences from Central taxi and will never use another cap company, they are loyal, friendly and amazing people who love to have conversations. Very rude, rarely arrive at the right time. Not sure if it is a problem with dispatch but a few times they have sent 2 cabs instead of one to pick someone up and then they blame the customer for their mistake. Have a very hard time following instructions - often showing up at the wrong location/ driveway despite very specific instructions indicating otherwise. Wouldn't recommend their services at all. Maybe this is why Uber is doing so much better? read more

This cab company was booked to take my 100 year old mother to her friend's funeral. They were late for the pick-up which I had booked 3 days in advance. They were a no -show for the return trip, which I had booked early that morning, despite a message saying they were on-route. When I contacted the office, I was told no one was on their way and it would be at least another 1/2 hour (I had already waited 1/2 hour after the arranged pick-up time) before someone might be able to come. If i could give 0 stars I would. The drivers of Central Taxi are downright RUDE AND NASTY PEOPLE. On Monday February 29 2016 my friends and I had an altercation with one of their drivers. We went to the casino to have a good night and were staying at Empress Suites 5 mins down the road. As it was a chilly night and my partner has a lung disease in which his lungs can collapse from cold air, we needed a ride back to the hotel. We approached taxi cab 194 of Central Taxi licence plate # BYMN 486 at 2:09am and asked for a ride to said hotel. The driver then began to argue with me as to the location of the hotel in which he was wrong about as I know where it was. He then stated quite rudely that "there is no empress hotel" which is interesting since I was staying there for the past few days. I then attempted to describe the location and that it was down the street. The driver replied very rudely and said "if it's so close then walk!!"... I am aware it was not a long ride and he would not get much money out of it but he could have simply declined instead of being downright rude to us. We ended up calling an UBER which picked us up and dropped us off happily and was very polite with us. This is the exact kind of reason that everyone I know will use UBER over a cab. Because cab drivers are not polite and are downright rude when they could be polite and decline short rides. In this case it was a matter of life and death and UBER saved us. I can matter of factly say that I will never recommend nor will I or any of the friends I was with approach another Central Taxi. I will also be posting this altercation to all travel websites and social media along with the pictures so that everyone will know how rude this individual was to us. I have been dealing with Central Taxi for the past 2 years to help get me to appointments outside of St.Catharines and have always been treated fairly until yesterday. I was in Beamsville waiting for a taxi to take me back to St.Catharines, well I saw a cab drive by but it looked like he was on another call. After an hour I re-called Central and asked them what the situation was (I was thinking maybe the guy was caught in traffic or something along those lines) it turns out the guy reported me as a "No Show" when he didn't even drive into the lot where I was. So this guy picks me up and we say virtually nothing on the way back and I get him to drop me off at my place. Well I have taken the route from Beamsville to St.Catharines many times and I am aware the price is $33. When I asked the guy how much I owed him (out of habit) he stated it was $39. I told him he was mistaken for I have taken this route many times over the past year and I know it's $33. He insisted it was so when I told him to get Dispatch on the line the fella on there (who happened to be the same one I called earlier) simply replied "Either he pays the $39 or we call the police". It's clear they were just interested in cheating me out of six dollars. Avoid this company they are crooked and do not care about the drivers (considering ten of them quit last week) and clearly the customers are nothing more than piggy banks for their own amusement. read more

I will never use Central Taxi again. We had arranged for Central to pick up three young boys every Wednesday evening at 9:00 following their cadet training at the Lake St. Armories. This was booked as an ongoing drive through their office. Tonight was the third time in seven weeks that they "forgot" to get them. On one occasion the driver left because they weren't outside at precisely 9:00. At that time the dispatcher promised to follow up with that driver and sent another. Once an article of clothing was left in the cab. I called to see if we could somehow retrieve it. I was promised an immediate call back that never happened. Based on our experiences, the track record would indicate that Central Taxi failed at least 50% of the time. Tonight I called in an inquiry when the boys were late arriving home, and was told without any apology that the drive had not been dispatched because on-going drives expire without notice. Yikes !! Three young boys were left standing on the curb in the cold at 9:30 at night - again! The only thing I was ever cautioned about when hiring this company to safely deliver my boys home each Wednesday was that they could not guarantee the same driver every time. Nobody had ever suggested to me that the agreement could just end. Even if this was the case, a usual business practice would be to notify a good customer and invite a renewal. I think it was just another excuse from an irresponsible and negligent operation. Do not trust these people. I will use Brock Q Taxi (935-5000) from now on. read more

This is by far the most horrendous customer service I've ever received from any taxi company I've ever used. My friends and I called and confirmed two taxis to pick us up from a house we were staying at in Niagara on the Lake. One taxi showed up to pick up half of the group and the other half of us waited outside for 20 minutes before calling the taxi company again to see what was going on. The dispatcher told us that the cab that we had requested and that had been CONFIRMED, decided to pick up a "flagger" instead. No one had called to notify us that our second taxi would not be showing up. We were then guaranteed that another taxi was being dispatched as a rush and should arrive within 10-15 minutes. Long story short, after 6 telephone calls and an hour and a half later, a taxi eventually came to pick us up. This is of course after my friend had already missed an hour and a half of her own bachelorette party. Every time we called we were told 10-15 minutes which was a complete lie. We were not offered any type of compensation even after explaining over 6 phone calls that this was not acceptable service and not the service we were expecting to receive. In fact, one of the responses we received was "What do you want me to do about this? I'm in Ottawa, Ontario," and that they were very busy....even though the taxis we orders were confirmed. Suffice it to say, we will never be using this taxi company again and I strongly encourage anyone in the Niagara area to choose a different company. read more

I had the most amazing taxi driver today, he looked kind of like Vin Diesel. After a very emotional appointment it was great to have such a positive person to talk to. He made what I was sure was going to be a horrible day a great one. It's great knowing their are still genuine people in this city, he was very encouraging and gave me hope. STAY AWAY!! If there was a way to take off stars we would!! We (5 couples) used 4 taxi vans to take us to the Niagara Casino from Niagara on the Lake and back. We were charged $45 flat twice, $47 flat once and the last cab charged us $74 which only became apparent as he drove the absolute longest way back to our destination. We learned by calling that the flat rate for all of our rides was to be $40. Not only were we gouged we were treated terribly by the driver who charged $74. The car had no air conditioning and when questioned about the route he was taking he completely ignored everyone and drove into oncoming traffic by creating his own left turn lane while turning onto the wrong road. At the end we asked for the cab number and he wrote a fake number on a card which became obvious as one of our friends took down the number painted on the car. We contacted the company and at first they seemed concerned. We sent them the fake card and they said they knew exactly who the driver was and then made us wait until they "disciplined him" to advise what they were going to do for us. They offered to pay the difference between the $40 flat rate and the $74 charged but upon thinking about it we don't need the money as badly as people need to know how terribly we were treated coupled with safety issues and being overcharged on all 4 rides. We tried to take a different cab company and were told by the driver that the Fallsview Casino only allowed people from this company to pick up fares - next time I would walk to the street to choose a better company!! read more

Have been a customer for years but if you are going a short distance they don't want the business and some of the drivers make that very clear. I will not be using this company any more as of today. I always tip more than fair to make up for the shorter trips but I will not be made to feel like I'm imposing on them when I book a cab. All the drivers and vehicles I've had have been great. When taking short trips between popular areas I've never had an issue. However, getting a taxi to show up in a smaller town like Smithville or for a longer ride is another story. It often takes several hours, even if booked in advance. My record so far is 4 hours of waiting at a pickup spot, nine drivers accepting then refusing the job, 2 calls with the dispatcher and 3 to drivers before giving up. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experience. I made a phone call at 4 am to get a ride home from downtown Fort Erie. Talked to the operator she assured me the taxi would be 30 minutes. I waited outside in the cold for 45 minuets I called back and they assured me again it will be there shortly. I waited another 20 minutes. I'm downtown fort Erie alone this whole time. Never showed I called back again they got frustrated with me and said don't worry it will be there soon.....lol I waited another half an hour so I called back AGAIN they told me "sorry there are no cabs in that area" at this point I said fuck you to the operator and I started walking to crystal beach freezing cold alone I walked until 7 am came around my phone at 1 percent made a call to speedy the second they opened and the lady told me don't worry and within 10 mins was driving looking for me to pick me up as my phone had died. Usually these guys are average service most of the drivers are pretty cool but I had one tonight that was rude and threatened to call the cops on me? Ok I guess when the CUSTOMER states where they want to go and would like to agree on a price this is a reason to call the police!! Ok this driver is an immigrant who feels that his Canadian customers are not to be treated with respect! He pulled up to the address of pick up and as soon as I got to the car door he pulled out! I then pointed out that I was standing there his excuse was he was trying to park! Number one it was a loading zone you don't park you pick up! When I finally got into the car I had to explain twice where I was going I then enquired as to roughly how much would it cost? I know how much it costs from the point of pick up to my address he then became very rude and said he would call the cops and that he had a camera and he could shoot me! This company claims to do check up's on drivers?
