We hired Central Station Signals Inc. to protect our businesses. I never expected to need our own surveillance cameras to protect me from someone they sent into my workplace.
While one of their technicians was working inside our business, I discovered surveillance footage that appears to show him deliberately using his personal phone to photograph my backside without my knowledge or consent. The footage also shows him repeatedly positioning himself behind and around me while working.
What made the experience worse was how I felt the situation was handled afterward. Another company employee who was shown the surveillance footage denied that the technician had taken pictures and maintained there were no photos of me on the phone. When the situation was brought to the owner, I did not receive an apology until I specifically asked for one. His response included, "Well, I wasn't there."
This was also not my first uncomfortable experience with someone from this company. Another employee had previously made a sexual remark to me about having sex with me in a bathroom.
A security company is entrusted with extraordinary access to businesses, employees, layouts and security systems. That requires an enormous amount of trust. My experience left me feeling violated, humiliated, and extremely disappointed in how my concerns were handled.
I have retained the surveillance footage. I am sharing my firsthand experience so other women and business owners can make their own informed decisions. read more
