Had a decadent dinner with amazing food. The honey garlic wings are an absolute must. Shoulda ordered more. The spicy jack burger has a real kick and I was amazed at the quality of the burger itself. I upgraded to poutine - which had a nice gravy but was short on cheese. The cheese was nice though. The shoestring fries used were decent but nothing special. Tried the trio of deserts and all were yummy but the lemon one was outstanding as was the Nutella cheesecake. Honestly, I was shocked at the quality of the food here. The service was fair for a Superbowl Sunday. Pricing was not bad but a tiny bit higher than I would generally like. For example - burger was $17 and if u changed the fries to poutine (small size) that went up to $20. I came in to Central Social Hall in St. Albert after frequenting the Downtown location many times and must say I am very impressed. The new location is spacious and modern with a very comfortable atmosphere. I was greeted and sat at a table quickly and all the staff were very friendly. This was one of our favourite places to go in St Albert. Past tense. We arrived at just before 5 & after being greeted by the waitress, took almost 30 minutes before our order was taken. And it was taken by a different waitress as she could see we were getting upset. The food was okay & portions seem to have shrunk. The Texas dry rub wings were sooooo good, and right now on Fridays you can get a free order of wings just for ordering any beverage! Service during busy times here is great, but during slow times (when less staff are on) due to the long rectangular shape of the bar the server can't always see you when you're not right in their field of view so drink refills can be a bit slow. Aweful service. My husband and I just tried to go in for a early dinner. We sat there for 10 mins no came to even ask us best part there were at least 5 waitress just standing around talking to each other. After more awkward waiting we just left even then no one said a word to us. Deeeeeelish. I'm happy with this location of Central Social Hall. Instead of feeling like a crazy party bar, it feels more like a cozy lounge. From my experience, it's never ever all that busy here. In fact, it always seems so dead quiet. The first time I came here a few years ago I ate tacos (which don't appear to be on the menu anymore), and I remember being a little bit disappointed in the portion size. My dad had eaten the prawn and noodle salad, which remains to be a favourite today. My friends and I had recently discovered that Monday is $10 burger day. Lucky us, Mondays are our hangout days. We came here 2 weeks in a row and both times the food was pretty awesome. Week 1 I ate the jasper chicken sandwich which was pretty good, but probably not worth the $16 I paid. Week 2 I went the smart route and ordered the Ronald burger on special. And oh my gooooooodness what a tasty burger! It reminded me of Jack's Burger Shack in St. Albert, which is considered one of the best burger places to eat at. The massive portion of fries you get alongside the burger is so worth the $10 its not even funny. If you're a burger fan, definitely come here on a Monday!!! read more

Had the protein and greens, and was pleasantly surprised! Although there were no "greens" on my plate the veggies, beets and cauliflower, were amazing! The Moroccan spiced Flavouring on the chicken was delicious and both the sauces complimented each other well. This is a great healthy choice and I'll definitely be eating it again. read more

Came on a Saturday night for date night. Hubby ordered a troubled monk beer (very rich, coffee infused craft beer fRom Red Deer), i had a white sangria, not the best I ever had but was still light and refreshing. As we were sitting at the bar (cuz there was limited seating as most sections were shut off) which we didn't mind. We like sitting at the bar. But the first thing we noticed when we sat down was the large white tub of chemical they have under the pour spouts for the beer and the heat gun. Poor bar design, should have put in cabinets or something to hide all the crap that people don't want to see. I ordered the Ronald on a GF bun as I'm a celiac and hubby had the fried chick sandwich. Both came out delicious. Super impressed with the food. Had a slight ha ha moment when I went to the bathroom as someone had wrote on the mirror in red lipstick that the food sucked. Maybe their order did but ours didn't. We'll be back St.Albert! But to give a pointer, get a gf menu for us people who can't ever eat anything without fear lol read more

Very disappointed in the service, food, and drinks. Don't order the Moscow Mule, it's made with a horrible tasting ginger beer, avoid at all costs. The food came out cold, and it took us an hour to hunt down our waitress and get the bill at the end of the night. So my friend and I were trying to look for somewhere new to go, our first choice was closed so we chose Central. What a huge mistake. The food was absolutely bland, tasted awful. The server was not attentive at all and I will add it was not busy. There were only two other tables in the entire restaurant and I'm pretty sure the bartender was taking care of the other table. Then we finally finish and the server brings us our bills and it was 30$ for a Baileys with hot chocolate and and appetizer. I was here for Saturday brunch with a handful of my friends and we had a lovely time. The food was incredible. We tried the belgian waffles (very crispy, nothing special), the cure (sort of a breakfast poutine - amazing), chicken + rocket linguini (very tasty dish and pasta was cooked to perfection), red thai curry (it's actually vegan, with brown rice, and surprisingly so delicious), and the mini donuts with dip for dessert. My top pick would be the chicken and rocket linguini. My healthiest pick would be the vegan red thai curry. My least favourite was the mini donuts. I just prefer my mini donuts to be super soft and to "melt in my mouth" instead of extra crispy and a bit chewy inside. Monday night eats led us to this place! BIGGEST MISTAKE!!! Service was slow and the food was gross. We ordered the tuna tataki because of the good reviews. The actual 5 pieces of tuna was not worth $15. Since it was burger Monday $9 we decided to have a burger and splurge on poutine +3. Dryest burger ever made that it left my tongue coarse and its been 1 hr. Lastly, their biggest mistake is our waitress kept asking my husband for drinks and not me. I had heard such great things about Central Social Hall, so needless to say I need to figure out what all the hype was about. And I have come to the conclusion that the only thing worth hyping about in regards to Central Social Hall is the fact that it is new to St. Albert. Otherwise, when you break it down it is no better than Original Joe's. We started with the tuna tataki, which was alright. The wasabi sauce was not good though, it had a terrible fishy taste. And, I don't feel the dish was worth $15. My friend ordered the spicy chicken tacos, she said they were delicious! That being said they were a very light entree. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Which I won't be ordering again. They were good, but it was like thanksgiving dinner on a waffle. The waffle was cold, and the cranberry sauce was way to sweet. Even the chicken tasted sweet, and the red wine gravy just made everything too sweet. I found the overall price of the meal to be a little steep. So I would say it's worth checking out, to try something new, but it is definitely not worth hyping about. read more

This place was such a treat. My husband and I enjoyed our first time ordering from Central Social Hall and it was delivery. All was good. We both got their jasper chicken burger; one with the caesar and one with their mayan chowder (which was delicious). Although we had a little mishap with the nutella cheesecake oreo cookie crumb. Once we opened the container that it came in; out wafted a very rancid/rotten smell. The owner was very good about it when my husband called to make a complaint about the cheesecake. He offered us free dessert and $25 towards our tab if we came in to try it out for ourselves in restaurant. So we took him up on the offer. The owner redeemed himself in doing so, because I was going to settle for getting our money back for the $8 cheesecake, but I am glad we went in. Experiencing the food a second time was even better than the first time. Since we decided to try other items on the menu. We have to say their nacho's are definitely worth it. It is totally loaded up with toppings and layered all through out there is nothing skimpy about the nacho's. My husband enjoyed their donuts as did I. Wife and I ate here shortly after it opened. The decor looked great, lots of TV's, decent service but we did not like the food. My wife is a vegetarian and she had the veggie burger. It wasn't tasty to begin with but it was also pretty burnt. Also had the yam fries and they weren't that great either. I had a beer and the lil lady had a sangria. Definitely the worst Sangria I have had in a restaurant, ever. I think they screwed up the recipe because there is no way a drink tasting that bad would stay on the menu. We have been to other central social halls and have enjoyed them so we are hoping after they have been open for a few months they can work out the kinks with the food. read more

Found myself out in St Albert today to meet some friends who suggested Central. I enjoy the downtown Edmonton, so I was interested to see this location. First thing, we sat on the patio and it was perfect! Sorry to the downtown location, but that one unfortunately faces the wrong way. The one in St Albert is very nice! Even the way they did the greenery, makes portions of the parking lot disappear. Finally was able to try the brunch menu and I have to say, again, bravo! Exceeded my expectations. Traditionally, I love a good hollandaise & eggs benny; however, they have a home made cheese & pepper sauce that they for theirs ... it was delicious. My friend also had a poutine with the same sauce, topped with poached eggs! Who thinks of these dishes LOL - perfect hangover food! I try to include an area for improvement when writing reviews; but, as far as pubs go, this company seems to have it figured out! Bring one to my neighbourhood! read more

Have been to the St. Albert location three times - once for weekday lunch and twice on weekends. The first time (close to when they first opened) the service was great and food was delicious! The last two times have been with the month of May. The second visit I was disappointed that the menu had been changed and my favourite dish was off the menu, but not a big deal if other food turned out to be good. The food and service was ok, but much less attentive than first visit. Last time, we gave it a try my husband and I ordered a white wine each along with our food. After 45 minutes of waiting for our drinks (and several times the waitress letting us know the wine was coming), the waitress told us they didn't have the wine. We were frustrated because we no longer had time to sit and enjoy a nice drink. Our food took an extended length of time as well (to the point of rushing to eat to make it to a sporting event on time after 1.5 hours at Central Social Hall). The food was mediocre at best and no compensation offered due to the lack of drink service. Overall, I was not impressed and would not go back. Nor would I recommend it. read more

My friend wanted to have her birthday there (approx. 15 people)and tried to make reservations over a week in advance , but was told "we don't take reservations". She even called on the Sunday morning of her bday and was told a manager would call her back, but nobody did. That being said the manager was very accomodating at adding extra seats/tables as friends started to add up, albeit only upon request.Our waitress was efficient, but having to scan through a long receipt seemed odd, as we had been asked prior to ordering if it was on separate bills. My food was good and reasonably priced and considering that people had filtered in, all orders were delivered to the table extremely accurately and efficiently. We decided to check this place out on family day. The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the food. Service was horrible. My mom had ordered a Mai tai and it came out looking like a mojito without the mint leaves and tasted like s whiskey sour. We mentioned to our waitress we did not like their version of a Mai tai and instead of being sorry or telling before hand that their version is not like the original she just kept telling us that's how we make it here. When she left the table to go change my moms drink they had a "high school" gossip meeting, very obviously talking about us because they kept looking over at us. We ordered appetizers as well as main dishes and not one dirty dish (plate, glass) was ever picked up. We each had at least 3 empty drinking glasses taking up the table.
