    Hotdog lunch
    Angela C.

We had been in Barcelona not even three hours and decided on this place in desperation of food. It was just after noon and although there were a few people at the restaurant they only appeared to be smoking and drinking coffee. So naturally we wondered if we could even order food. The language barrier was a little difficult but we received an English menu and saw that, yes, it was okay to order food. It was a tough decision since we didn't really know what would be good or how the menu worked. Some things were a little confusing. I ended up with the chicken sandwich and fries, excellent choice. In fact, my food was the best of everything else we ordered. My husband ordered the avocado toast. It was super crunchy and hard to eat, not your typical toast. My daughter just wanted a hotdog which was the most complicated thing on the menu. It came with a drink, two eggs, bacon and cheesecake, from what we understood you can't get it alone. Soo, the hotdog was not what we were expecting. It was served sliced up on bread like a sandwich. It was far too much food for a kid and I felt bad we wasted so much food. Service was okay and it had nice outdoor seating. All in all, my meal was perfect and we at least were able to fill ourselves up. It was also close to our hotel which was a plus.

We stopped here for lunch after a meeting because it was recommended by them. It was certainly a really good spot for lunch they have a small inside section but plenty of outdoor areas where you can sit and enjoy the warm Barcelona weather. I went for the risotto which was cooked perfectly and the rest of the team went for salad, pasta and one for steak. Everyone enjoyed their meals thoroughly but we skipped dessert until next time.

French fries and eggs with prosciutto ham.

After discovering that our first three choices were all shuttered, we ended up at La Pepita by default. Thankfully, it turned out to be a great find. We stopped in late in the afternoon, when the pace was relaxed but the energy still lively. The space had a fun, casual vibe -- the kind of place that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. The service was friendly and quick, and the staff seemed to genuinely enjoy what they do. We ordered a few snacks and drinks, all of which hit the spot. Everything was flavorful, nicely presented, and perfect for sharing. Even though it wasn't quite the dinner rush, there was a steady flow of people, which tells me it's a popular spot year-round, not just a backup when others are closed. Overall, La Pepita was a happy surprise on an August afternoon -- great atmosphere, good food and drinks, and the kind of easygoing charm that makes you want to linger a little longer. Would absolutely go back. 4.5 Stars
