1-Star - Extremely Disappointed with Customer Service and Outdated Policies…read more I'm basing this review solely on customer service. Today, I had an unavoidable situation--my kids' babysitter had to cancel last minute. I immediately called Gentle Dental first thing in the morning to reschedule. Their response? "We can reschedule, but there's a $50 fee." Seriously? What is this--1985? I'm already paying premium prices for care, and now I'm hit with a penalty for a genuine emergency? No flexibility, no understanding, no effort to retain a loyal customer. My family has brought them plenty of business, and this is how we're treated? When did customer retention stop being a priority? When did we normalize this kind of price gouging and corporate coldness? Shame on any business that thinks this is acceptable--especially in healthcare. Rescheduling still brings them business, just not my business after today! Gentle Dental, you've lost a loyal customer. I refuse to be treated like this! FYI! My appointment was for 4pm... I called at 9:30.. that's plenty of time to fill the void!

After Guberman's retirement and not liking his replacement, I went to two who offered special introductory rates, but one prescribed expensive gum work (Aspen) and the other (Family Dentist) a couple expensive crowns then from recommendations I went to Hoffman (he saw neither) and I was satisfied for about 5 years until he retired and upsell resumed with his replacement. I then went to research a couple who were rated as best in the newspaper surveys. Both required an introductory package (Spoonwood $375-with a 3% senior discount and Perry $497-no discount and said they might reject xrays from other dentists). Then I saw Gentle Dental with an intro package of $79 but approached with trepidation foreseeing upselling. But none. And I liked the office staff better than all previous noted. The technician who did the xrays was nice and the most thorough xrays I have ever had. The hygienist was especially cordial and thorough as was the dentist who found my mouth in especially good shape. There you have it. I avoided upselling, found great people, and had a thorough introductory package which supports a senior, fixed income, no insurance budget.

Dr. Drower is gentle and friendly and his staff is (was) pleasant as well. Suddenly, I noticed that there was / is a huge turnover rate among his staff (red flag) and there is always someone I have never seen before who looks at my teeth. The major reason I'm giving Dr. Drower a one star review is because for the past year and a half or two I literally have not seen Dr. Drower in person. I get my teeth cleaned three times a year. Dr. Drower does not work on Fridays, and for the past 1 1/2 to 2 years, the staff schedules me on Dr. Drower's day off. Also, there was one time that Dr. Drower was in the office working when I had my dental appointment. My dental hygienist was concerned about what she found on my x-ray but Dr. Drower refused to take a look at my x-ray, even though it showed a possible cavity; in my opinion this borders on malpractice. Sadly, I cannot recommend Dr. Drower to anyone. His practice has gone downhill since I first started going. I'm looking for another dentist, hopefully one who will actually look at my x-rays and will provide dental care for my teeth.

She obviously is either related to one of the dentist or gets commission on each root canal she sells. I was told I DEFINITELY needed a root canal and the tooth was all decayed and thats why it broke. Before I even got a price she had the novocaine & tools out. I asked her why she was doing that and she told me the dentist was going to "clean up my tooth a bit" and when I asked what the meant she started to describe a root canal. What? I hadnt even gotten a price or OK'd a root canal! Ive never felt such high pressured sales in my life. I sat there for 10 minutes while she pressured me to get the root canal. I refused and left, thank God I did, and on my way out the girl at the desk says "oh if your not going to have us do the root canal can you call us and let us know so we dont bug you?" I replied, "BUG ME?" and she giggled and said "well so we dont keep calling you". Why would they keep calling me? Odd and unprofessional. Funny how when I went to an honest dentist, he told me my tooth was perfectly fine, no decay and he was 95% sure I didnt need a root canal (like I suspected) only a crown. Ive since had the crown put on, with no root canal and my tooth is fine. If your looking for an honest place, I wouldnt go here. It wasnt just an innocent error on their part, it was definitely them being dishonest and trying to make a quick buck off me Shame on them! I dont know how they sleep at night. Dishonest!

Very much like others(Whom have commented) the office staff leaves MUCH to be desired. I paid my bill in full for the amount i expected and had been told. That was my last visit in Sept. In February i received a email saying i owed 470.00 for a CT scan. I paid in full what i was told to pay in Sept. I contacted the office and asked why the first i was hearing about this was 5 months later and the response was i owe the money. I told them i paid in full I paid 5500+ on my final visit. Today i received a call from a collection agency saying i had been delinquent since Sept. and payment was due in full. I pay my bills, excellent credit score and to be sent to a collection agency and effect my credit over there shooty billing is a place i would stay far away from. I also will be in touch with my referring dentist. I hope they enjoy the $470.00 dollars as i am hopeful this will help others not get caught in what seems to be a common sneaky pratice.

I chose to bring my daughter to this practice on the recommendation of our Orthodontist for a…read moresurgical procedure as part of the work with her braces. Her recovery has been good, with no complications to speak of (only two weeks in at time of writing this). So the services provided by Dr. Wardius appear to have met expectations. Unfortunately, the office experience left something to be desired. While a comfortable and soothing ambiance make for nice experience, day of, I was disappointed with poor communication with the office staff around the costs involved. After completing our consult visit and scheduling the surgery I asked for a cost estimate and was presented with expected costs, based on expected insurance coverages. Two weeks later these were updated based on an uncovered service performed at the consult (a CT scan), and I was provided what I understood to be final numbers (assuming that nothing would change during the procedure that would require additional services or coverage-wise from insurance). On the day of the procedure, everything proceeds as expected. No additional services needed or performed and payment requested matches the estimate I had been provided. Two weeks later I am now being charged for a service (the CT scan) that was supposed to have already been accounted for, as I was told that it had been, two weeks prior to the procedure. But they are telling me that I mis-read the email when they said "The balance was added to the patient account." If so, that estimate should reflect that amount. When a customer is quoted a price for promised services to be rendered, and those exact services are what is completed, then that price shouldn't change after the fact. Trying to discuss this with the office manager was the final straw as she was more interested in expediting the call, crossing it off her to-do list and getting off the phone than to honestly hear the concern and frustration that a client had with their experience. This "problem customer" as I am sure to be referenced as behind their closed doors, could have been a learning experience for the team so that they could better understand how to service their customer's needs. Instead it was so much more transactional and disappointing. I will be sure to pass this experience back to the original referring office and to find another practice for my son when he is due up in the coming years.

I found Dr. Goldberg, and made a consultation appointment with him. He took X-rays, examined my teeth, and said one of your tooth definitely needs root canal but the other one does not for now. Then he thoroughly explained what was going on with the tooth nerves inside my gum, why the tooth needed root canal and how the root canal could save my tooth. Dr. Goldberg's explanations were very convincing. Although very much scared of root canal procedure, I decided to go for it. The root canal treatment was completed in 2 sessions each 1.5 hours long (total of 3 hours). I found Dr, Goldberg kind, nice, considerate, caring, experienced and professional in his job. He never was in a rush. He always had time for my questions, and patiently addressed all my concerns and questions. He gave me his email address, his cellphone number and work number, and said feel free to call any time if you have any questions or concerns. During the root canal procedure, he checked on me several times to be sure that I was comfortable and was feeling no pain. Sometimes he made funny conversations to distract my thoughts from things were going on inside my mouth. After Dr. Goldberg got the root canal treatment done, I was so happy and satisfied that I hugged him. :) Two days later, he called me to follow up. What else could I want from a doctor? I hope you all have healthy teeth, but if you need root canal consultation or treatment, I highly recommend Dr. Goldberg!
