Today, I had an unavoidable situation--my kids' babysitter had to cancel last minute. I immediately called Gentle Dental first thing in the morning to reschedule. Their response? "We can reschedule, but there's a $50 fee." Seriously? What is this--1985? I'm already paying premium prices for care, and now I'm hit with a penalty for a genuine emergency? No flexibility, no understanding, no effort to retain a loyal customer. My family has brought them plenty of business, and this is how we're treated? When did customer retention stop being a priority? When did we normalize this kind of price gouging and corporate coldness? Shame on any business that thinks this is acceptable--especially in healthcare. Rescheduling still brings them business, just not my business after today! Gentle Dental, you've lost a loyal customer. I refuse to be treated like this! FYI! My appointment was for 4pm... I called at 9:30.. that's plenty of time to fill the void!

Long story short, I was born with very weak teeth and had spent thousands of dollars trying to save them until they just weren't salvageable. I initially opted for dentures at another dentist. They were awful. I couldn't eat without them falling out, I gagged all the time, my upper lip started curling in and, at 45, i felt like I would never be the same again. I looked into many options to get all on 4 and some told me my case was too complex. Some were priced so outrageously I couldn't even imagine this being a possibility. I was so depressed. I even considered going to Mexico but my concern was that I would go through all that and then have complications that would make me fly back and forth to a foreign country and I could never afford that. One day, I got out of my funk and decided to hunt for someone again after realizing I feared going to Mexico and having complications. Bowman offered financing options I was approved for to get an All on 4 package. From my first meeting with Dr Bowman I knew my life would change forever. He has one of the best bedside manners I've ever witnessed. I've seen dozens of dentists and no one tops him. He explained everything in great detail and we came up with a plan. I couldn't believe I'd have new teeth and part of my life back so soon! Dr Bowman was a pure gem throughout the process. I was never waiting long for an appointment. His staff is beyond amazing and it is such a pleasure to watch them interact with him as he trains them during procedures. They clearly deeply respect him and love their jobs. I'm the middle of treatment I was diagnosed with cancer. This delayed my finals and could have seriously caused issues with my healing. Dr Bowman accommodated me every step of the way, working around my cancer appointments and becoming more like family than a medical professional. I can't imagine ever going to another dental practice. Today I feel beautiful, confident, and the compliments I get on my stunning, natural looking all on 4 are so uplifting. When I started with them a few years ago, I was so happy to have found them after a bad experience with a Keene dentist. Plus, they were preferred providers with my dental insurance (they since have stopped being preferred providers with any insurance - ouch!). I have crowns and grind and clench. I wear a night guard. I do not eat chewy or hard things, searched and researched a toothpaste that wouldn't erode the crown's surfaces, I even brush for 2 minutes twice a day (I actually time it). Then I had a couple of teeth (crowns) break - front teeth - just suddenly I felt an object in my mouth, then another. Fortunately, I didn't swallow them! I didn't see my usual dentist. I saw some guy I didn't know, rushed me, and did not take into account my anxiety. I needed a partial, and the partial was a catastrophe. I was never given an opportunity to have a say in color. What I received was a partial that made it look as if those teeth were rotting and one of the "teeth" on it was crooked. I brought up the crooked tooth, and was told "it has to be like that." It took time, but I went back with my complaints and worked with my usual dentist. They were going to re-do the partial. It took 6 weeks to get it. It was lovely. The color we chose matched my teeth, the crooked "tooth" was straightened. Nice, yes? After 4 days, the partial broke. I went back, and was told "there is nothing we can do." I paid a lot for that dental appliance, and first, it was hideous, then beautiful, and then broke within a few days. Nothing they could do! I walked out in shock. Once in my car, I was so angry that I was shaking. Did I go back in? No. I have a valid, real condition regarding anxiety and medical practitioners. I was unable to go in. I will do something about such callous care - write reviews, and write to Bowman with photos. Frankly, I am traumatized by the whole mess. I also think, in part, I received poor care, "unable to do", because I was looking into going to another dentist - a practice that is a preferred provider with my insurance. I was still going to Bowman, because of the issues we were already in the middle of. I'd already paid Bowman, and it was definitely more than $1,000 for the partial. Now, I have a really ugly partial, a "new partial that broke within days, and am looking at paying for the same partial with a different dentist. Bowman's practice has gone from caring about clients to making that cha-ching!

I was told I could no longer use this office without general x-rays. No problem with the dentist, he was competent but recently retired. Experience with the hygienist only fair. From our chats, I disclosed information totally irrelevant to my dental history including noting my religious perspective which was then listed in clinical notes. Very difficult to get directly through to the front desk.

His first response to the problem was to tell me to take something like Motrin and call in two weeks. After seeing an oral surgeon and being properly treated for a jaw infection at the injection site, he refused to accept any responsibility, sending me a letter that said I was no longer his patient. As others have said, his staff is really nice and the office is modern but I can't respect a doctor that will not take ownership of their mistakes. Also, be prepared to pay $100 if you miss an appointment.

We made appointments with Hastings based on recommendations we had received. To be objective, it seemed that this dental facility was state of the art, they seemed to have the latest and greatest equipment. The staff, especially the hygienists and assistants were very nice and professional. They were on top of making sure you were always comfortable. What really turned me off (more like pissed me off) was the upsell along with the sales pressure that the woman up front who handled the scheduling. They would seat you with her as you were exiting and she would hit you up with additional procedures that were very costly and certain unaffordable. I tried to explain to them that I had been out of work, and did not have dental insurance to pay for a $1400 under gum cleaning. They eventually cam back with a procedure using a different piece of equipment for around 1/4 of the price, but still insisted I would require the original $1400 procedure within a few months. Well, all the time I am thinking that my dentist in CT had never come up with all this baloney. Meanwhile, my wife get's told that all her fillings needed to be replaced. She questioned this diagnosis and guess what happened? They sent us a notice in the mail firing us as their patients because we did not subscribe to their treatments. Give me a break!!! I'll tell you what, my guess is this dentist needed to turn in his Mercedes for the new Bently that's coming out. I guess he doesn't realize that dental health care is not the same as selling used cars. I do not recommend this practice as I feel they have very low regard for their customers and their customer's financial situations, they just want to soak you or your insurance for all that they can get.
