We moved to Iowa recently from the Chicago area and so we were unfamiliar with the furniture stores…read morein Iowa but my daughter who has lived here a few years thought I should try Redekers. so we did. Upon entering we were greeted by Chris. A lovely clerk, but in the end, not very helpful. We told the Chris that 1) we were not familiar with the brands that they carry so we would rely on her knowledge and 2) we are in Iowa less than five months out of the year as we are retired and homestead in Florida. She steered us to the HomeStretch brand for a loveseat. Specifically, I asked her about durability because I have had Lazy Boy furniture in the past and had been very happy with it. She responded by saying that "Lazy Boy isn't what it used to be" but that this Homestretch would be good. Ok so we trusted her. My husband who is 6' and less than 200 lbs is the only person that sits in this chair. Within six months the chair was leaning and the seat part of the cushion was shot. Because we are in Iowa only five months out of the year by the time I returned to Iowa to report this collapse, the "warranty" was out of date by about one month. We were to pay to have someone come out to look at the piece ($50) and then they would evaluate the cost of repair. Chris was able to get the initial $50 fee waived, but the total cost of the repair would be about $350 including a pick up and return delivery to our home. $350 repair job for a piece of furniture a year old. If I wanted crap furniture or virtually zero customer service, I would have gone to some low end big box store. I don't recommend Redekers at all. My husband and I were small business owners for 40 years and never treated customers so poorly. I'm sure Redekers is in the Ankeny area regularly so I believe to waive the pick up and delivery charges for the repair of this furniture would have been the better decision on their part particularly because the furniture is so new. They chose not to work with us and that is poor judgment on their part. I would not go back and purchase another item from them again. Lousy.

I recently bought a new mattress and foundation here, and I'm more than satisfied. The owner is…read morefriendly and a pretty good salesperson, but it is a small operation. The prices are fair. I'd only go out of my way for a specific sale on a specific mattress. They do have certain high end brands that other stores in Ames and other towns don't have. If you do have a significant back problem or insist on luxury mattresses, then this place is a great locale and a fair buy. There's also bits of furniture. I don't really drive out to Nevada but depending on what you're looking for it is absolutely worth the drive.

We left without on our first visit but returned because of an ad we had seen on Facebook. My decently healthy and mobile Dad uses a walker. When I come to Ames for a visit, I usually get a…read more"to do" list to help him out. That often includes a trip to Walmart (wine, cat litter, etc.), the Bank, take him to appointments, and in this case arrange to get that walker fixed. Next time the walker goes out, a full replacement will be required of which Choice Medical has a number of options. I'm happy to help out and really appreciated the guy who fixed the walker. And as we're all on the same escalator, good Karma is very important.
