This business is fine if you ACTUALLY need them! I used Legal Zoom to file my DBA. This company found my filing, sent me an ADVERTISEMENT to use their company services. But it was disguised as a legal notice! They sent me two notices claiming that needed to pay them $40 to process my publication with a warning that I will lose my filing if I don't do so because I'm in violation of CA law. Thanks for the warning but there's no need to scare me, causing me to call Legal Zoom, the county registrar's office, and the county clerk's office just to find out that it was all unnecessary. I didn't have to pay $40 for Legal Zoom to process my publication! They are sending this to you to scare you into using their services! I've looked at your other reviews with the same complaints as me. We are unhappy with your marketing tactics because it is misleading! If this is for marketing purposes, then say so! There is no need in scaring us into using your services! Not only have you wasted my time, but you wasted the time of the agents at Legal Zoom, the County Registrar's office, as well as the County Clerk's office. This is NOT how you run a business! It's so strange that almost immediately after I filed my DBA I received a letter from this company. How do they acquire the information?? I was shocked to learn that my information had already been sold to a private company. Also the envelope had wrong information printed. In my county the deadline to start publishing is 45 days after you file but this piece of letter says 30 days. (I called the county registrar and confirmed it's 45 days not 30.) read more

Didn't have to send the company any paperwork. They somehow have a direction connection with the county website, so they pulled all my info, and adjust the payment fee accordingly. I received a piece of mail from them along with my DBA confirmation from the LA registrar-recorder / county clerk. As I am a millennial who grew up with the internet, this is one of the extremely rare occasions that I would respond to a piece of mail marketing, but their prices were significantly better than anything that was offered on the county registrar website. The weekly prices for publications were often $75 to $100 or more a week depending on the newspaper. I have good intuition when it comes to illegitimate websites because it is no different than walking down a shady alley way. Eventually you just have enough experience to spot the lack of professionalism and scammy behavior from the bad ones. Obviously the central DBA website is not going to be of top shelf aesthetic design like a Fortune 500 company, but it gets the job done and you understand that for the affordable price they're offering, they are aiming for efficiency and simplicity. Any business owner would be able to respect that. This is a preliminary review and I have just placed my order with them do complete the DBA publishing each week for a total of 4 weeks and $38 grand total. I thought the reviews on here were very helpful and wanted to provide some additional reassurance as well. If for whatever reason I run into issues with them or my DBA is not properly filed, I will certainly modify and update this review to let you guys know what the process entails and how their customer service is. In this day and age with frequent credit card use, I think that provides an additional layer of protection. If there was anything fraudulent going on, you could easily get your money back from your bank by reporting any misleading or fraudulent charges. You can have a nonsense service or product and have great reviews here if you make fool people to feel good or you can have great product and service but not geared to just make people happy no matter what and have bad reviews. As soon as I went to their website and put name and registration number they pulled all info right away and even gave me details and deadlines too. This business seems very shady. First, I want to state that I have NOT done business with them. I registered a new business a few months ago and published my DBA listing in a local newspaper as is required. Now I get a letter in the mail, looking very important "SECOND NOTICE" "OPEN IMMEDIATELY" I open it, hoping there isn't a problem with my registration or publishing. The letter inside has the appearance of a formal and important reminder notice with lots of scary red ink saying that you better pay now or risk having your business registration not be in compliance with the law. I don't think that what these people are doing is illegal, but I do believe that their business and marketing tactics are sleazy and immoral, preying on the fears of people who are not well informed. And ... save a bundle? I don't think so. There were half a dozen newspapers outside the courthouse where I registered my business offering their service for between $20-30, which is cheaper than "Central DBA" offers. "Central DBA" sounds very official doesn't it? That's all a part of them presenting an image to people to whom they send these letters, so that they seem more like a government office than just a publishing business that focuses on sleazing money out of people. Here are your options: 1) Go to City Hall to register your company, there are people in the front offer this service for $80+. 2) Going to other newspaper, it should be over $100+. I think i paid like $175 3) Central DBA offers the same thing under $50 for 1 company and 1 owner. If you are getting their advertisement letter, you must be the business owner writing the scam reviews. As a business owner, I guess you don't read you other contract either? I sort of understand the people who are annoyed and claim the company is a scam, because their letter looks really official and scary, but if you just read it, you can figure out it's not a notice from the city. I concluded that some people apparent are weary of a company using red as a design choice. I, on the other hand, thought it was a smart way of getting my attention and when I did a bit of investigation, they were cheaper than anyone else I found. I liked that I didn't have to talk to anyone to get it done. I just filled out a form and paid on their website. Then I called to make sure it happened and some polite lady answered all my questions. They did the publication and I got a confirmation. The efficiency saved me time and the lady I talked to was really nice. The net of it is: YES, their letter looks like a Notice, but it says on the letter that they're not from the city. They were cheaper than any of the other things I looked at. It took me 10 minutes on their website to complete the transaction. If you call them, there are real people that will answer your questions. Yes, Central DBA does solicit business using semi-government looking paperwork, but, unlike the vast majority of other companies doing the exact same thing, Central DBA does not charge a small fortune for their services. I used them to publish my FBS and it cost me a whole $35 and they filed the proof with the county which saved me the hassle of doing it myself. It seems like there are a number of people trashing Central DBA, all of which NEVER USED THEIR SERVICES. Yes, their flyer is set up to look 'official' and gain your attention. It is NOT set up to look like a 'BILL' from the government. If you read your filing papers you would know that you are required to publish your filing. I'm actually glad they sent me a flyer about their service and were proactive, it took the burden of finding a publisher off of me. Like others said, it will cost you at least $30 and upwards of $120 to do the publishing yourself. For $38 I'll gladly put the ball in their court for publishing and notifying the county clerk, finishing everything for me. I didn't have my filing number handy, and I got a human rep on the phone right away who helped me look it up, and was knowledgeable and courteous on the phone. I received an advertising letter from Central DBA in May 2014 shortly I had paid another newspaper $150 to publish for 4 weeks. When I saw the original advertising for $38.00, I kept this on file for next fictitious name filing. I just applied on line to Los Angeles County Registrar and then called Central BDA to publish the name for 4 weeks. I was informed: a if the information was the same as the last filing and b. if the filing is still current, then I did not need to republish the fictitious name. How honest is this. I read all the one star reviews and concluded that these people had something against Central DBA and were out to destroy the reputation of this company.
