His staff and their manager have been helpful even though there was a surge of appointments since people are taking their pest more to the doctor's office during Covid. My rule each day is dogs first and they have the same care in mind for all pets.

Corporate needs to clean house, starting with Dianna, the office manager. It's bad vet medicine, and when we discussed it, their answer was not to address our team's input from multiple fosters, but instead go on the defensive. After this last incident as a rescue we will not work with them. One of our pugs tested positive for Erlichia. This was verbally communicated to our transporter. First the front desk person said the pug had heart worm and this was later corrected by Dr.Padilla. No written documentation was delivered to the rescue. After 3 email requests, we received it. They sent home antibiotics with no written instructions or explanation. We will not use this vet practice again and will let their management company know as they are corporate. They need to clean house as the attitude and hostility is condoned by management. .

Believe all these vets obtained their degree with chatGPT, do not go here. They will wait until you get to the front and the moment seeing the Vet to tell you that. They turned away multiple people in front of me for the same reason, my dog was checked my another vet just this last year, full check up and perfectly healthy. The vet excuse was that she couldn't hear well enough (we were the 5th people she had told this to and probably more) These vets are unqualified to be vets so I wouldn't trust your dog or fur baby in their hands. The lady that calls herself a vet is named Doctor dendnholz in our particular situation. Again ChatGPT degree, go to a real Vet.

The staff is very friendly, and responsive, and Dr. Leyda is extremely caring and knowledgeable. I have been here many times with multiple dogs for the senior full wellness package, and the doctor and staff are stellar. They always go above and beyond! There are no appointments, and patients are seen on a first come, first serve basis, but they are so good that I have used their services countless times. Nothing but praise for Dr. Leyda and her staff. (This is the PetVet in Watsonville, CA at the Tractor Supply Company.)

I recently had a HORRIBLE experience with my 12 year old German shepherd. We were out of the country on vacation and our dog became very sick with diarrhea and our boarder brought her in to Aptos Creek. They were HORRIBLE- claiming they had never seen the dog and denied seeing her. I even produced all her twelve years of care there and the tens of thousands we spent. They didn't care- claimed they never knew the dog or had seen her. I was astounded and let the receptionist know how angry we were. Her response was to hang up on us. Then UNBELIEVABLY the vet called me in Paris yelled at me and FIRED us. Stupidly I begged them to keep us and she refused. We were mean to her receptionist? The boarder nursed her through it until we returned home and picked her up. We are now taking our vet business elsewhere. BEWARE of these people they are not the same. They fired all the old personnel and brought in new people. I ADAMANTLY do not recommend these folks. Their attitude towards people and animals is poor.

My crusty aging miniature poodle has been a client of Aptos Capitola Veterinary Hospital since…read more2020. I think we are "Furequent Flyers" at this point- the staff here have nursed Lorraine through tumor removals, teeth extractions, a dog attack, rampant diarrhea, and many, many vaccines. I feel that the care team at Aptos-Cap are kind and also very professional: They have always ensured my dog has access to the highest standard of care but are considerate and non-judgmental when I decline procedures or ask for cheaper alternatives (e.g. declining an echocardiogram and sticking to x-rays and careful monitoring of my dog's heart condition). I've had the pleasure of working with all three veterinarians at the clinic and each of them are cost conscious, reminding me of prices as they build the invoice and suggesting strategies for meeting my needs. For example, they determined that my very anxious dog needed a sedative (gabapentin?) for a procedure and Dr. Hage explained to me the steep price difference between intravenous versus the slower but cheaper oral option. My dog is on multiple medications and they have happily given me paper-copies of the prescriptions to buy my meds at wholesale pharmacies. All the techs I've had are very gentle and patient with my dog (shout-out Trish!). Their new clinic is *noice* and feels exceptionally clean. Georgia at the front desk is the sweetest but on top of it with last-minute requests. No complaints about costs... Vet care in California is extraordinarily expensive across the board and Santa Cruz County is one of the most expensive places in the state to live or run a small business. I waited in long long lines at the free monthly vet care clinics when I was younger. You get what you pay for.

This review has been a long time coming…read more Years ago, I brought my 12-year-old cat to Capitola Veterinary Hospital to see Dr. May after he developed severe neuropathy and could barely walk. We were good, loyal clients of this clinic and spent thousands of dollars over time on visits, diagnostics, and care. After reviewing his bloodwork, I was told it might be time to consider putting him down. I chose not to accept that. I took him to UC Davis and Pacific and Santa Cruz Veterinary Specialists, where he was correctly diagnosed by both places with diabetes--a basic and treatable condition that had been missed. With proper treatment, I managed his condition successfully for four more years. He lived until 17 and passed from oral cancer--not the condition I was told was essentially the end. Those were four incredibly meaningful years with a cherished family member that I almost lost prematurely based on that initial recommendation. Fast forward to recently--I brought my new kitten in for vaccinations, not realizing this was the same clinic (now Aptos-Capitola Veterinary Hospital) I had previously decided to avoid. Unfortunately, the experience reinforced my decision. I requested that vaccines be administered in the tail, which is supported by the 2020 AAHA/AAFP Feline Vaccination Guidelines to reduce risk and improve outcomes in the rare case of injection-site sarcoma. Initially, there was no objection, and the veterinarian was able to administer the first vaccines calmly and without stress. However, when the technical staff struggled to administer subsequent vaccines, the tone shifted completely. Instead of handling the situation professionally, they blamed me for making an "unusual" request and suggested I was causing unnecessary difficulty. What was most unacceptable was how I was treated personally. The staff spoke to me in a condescending and dismissive way, at one point implying I didn't understand English. I have lived in the United States for 25 years and have worked in professional roles in the tech industry. That comment was both inappropriate and offensive. Between a past failure to catch a basic diagnosis--despite extensive testing--and a recent experience marked by poor communication, lack of professionalism, and disrespect, I cannot recommend this clinic. I strongly encourage others to seek second opinions and advocate for their pets.

People in this field go into this field because they care - more than most- and they deal with and see a lot of really hard situations on a daily basis. Every time my husband and I have been here (with at least four different pets through the last 10-15 years ranging from mild to very serious) the care and veterinary expertise has been very good. During my second visit, approximately ten minutes before the scheduled opening time, I attempted to open the door. A staff member was seated at the counter, on the phone, with a dog in her lap. I GOT A CAT !!…read more Weird, right ? But I started talking to myself and I'm single, and I made up an imaginary cat named Schroedinger (neat, right ? is he real or is he fake ? open the box !). That's when I realised it's just time to get a real cat. I'd been stalking these stupid Siamese cats named like Zepyherwhyndd and Galaharadieal and even though they were named after Dead Can Dance songs and STDs, they were stupid expensive. Pretty sure my old Siamese cat came from Andy's Pet Store or something shady like that. She was a good cat. Cats should be cheap, there's so many of them, but I was picky and I wanted to basically clone the cat of my childhood. RIP Nosey Meowy C. After stalking the PetHarbor.com listings, checking out the tore up Amy Winehouse Siamese cats all over the South Bay, and thinking about giving up food so I could buy one of Call of Aaemoenae and Chelapeladrox's offspring, I FINALLY found my little princess at the Watsonville shelter ! They are part of Santa Cruz County Animal Services, but sorely understaffed. I called for about three hours straight before someone answered, and when I told them I found the kitty I wanted to meet online (her name was, appropriately, Kitty) they made a note in her profile. When I told them I was going to come all the way from Campbell the next Saturday, they put a hold on her so I could get to meet her before anyone took her. I was very appreciative of that ! When I came to the shelter, there were tons of children around and I told the receptionist that I was there to see Kitty. She confirmed that I was the one who called, and then I filled out paperwork and waited for the excitement to die down so I could meet her (she wasn't into noise or kids). It was seriously love at first sight, I started crying as soon as I saw her. She's really tiny (about five pounds) and she was completely dwarfed by the HUGE soft cages they keep their cats in. There are very caring docents that play with the animals, and they socialize them all together (if appropriate). My little kitty was the sweetest thing, and when I brought her home ($95 adoption fee for adult cats, free checkup at the vet too), she snuck all around my house and was interested in everything. So I changed her name to Clarice. Teaching her to use a gun.
