Look at that smile! Trixie couldn't be happier :)

I've been going to the same overpriced veterinarian for the past 4 years, and have been searching for a more reasonably-priced option to take my dog for veterinary care. Two of my coworkers highly recommended Prunedale Veterinary Service with Dr Dena Eckerdt, so I decided to give her a try. I immediately saw a difference with this establishment from the moment I scheduled the appointment over the phone. They welcomed my Trixie into the office, talking to her, interacting with her, and playing with her. She's a pit-mix, so some people act scared around her, but they didn't make me feel stressed out like usual. They were so good to her. The doctor spent time getting to know Trixie, and even took the time to show me how to do a simple procedure at home to help maintain her health! They never even attempted to try and sell me on any unnecessary, expensive treatments or procedures for her. I couldn't have been more impressed.

    Thanks Dr. Dena!

He passed of late stage heart failure not 2 months later. Also, when we received his medical records for insurance purposes, they were sparse and obviously not accurate or thorough. They refused to give them to me though, our insurance had to get them. California law requires vets to give owners a summary of medical records that includes history, treatment, and medications. None were included (Under 16 CCR § 2032.3).

The vet is caring and reasonably priced- if you can get in. Many people have reported that they…read moredon't answer the phone or call back, and they still have only 1 line so it is busy with fax all the time. The real problem though is the rude, uncaring desk staff. When my pharmacist complained that they didn't send a refill request they refused to deal with them- so for two years I had to go monthly to a pharmacy 1/2 hour out of my way. When I complained the desk person cancelled my dogs appointment without telling me and said they would not allow us there anymore. Others posted that this happened to them also. Something fishy going on, and VERY unprofessional! They didn't care that my dog would be out of meds, lied and said they had no appointments (they did) and that they couldn't give a refill (they did). Many online complaints and pet owners having to go elsewhere because they're so difficult. Not worth the trouble!

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Dr. Jessica Lightsey. I'm sharing this review…read moreto help other pet owners make an informed decision. My dog, Pepito, was diagnosed by Dr. Lightsey with ITP -- a condition he had never shown signs of before. Based on that diagnosis, he was prescribed a high dose of prednisone. Shortly afterward, Pepito became seriously ill and had to be taken to the emergency hospital, where he was treated for a GI bleed. In the days that followed, I consulted two additional veterinarians, including an internal medicine specialist, to better understand what had happened. They reviewed Pepito's records and felt that his initial symptoms were more consistent with transient gastroenteritis or pancreatitis, not ITP. I was also told that the diagnostic workup used to support the ITP diagnosis did not meet the typical criteria for that condition. According to the specialist, Pepito's mild anemia improved after the prednisone was stopped and replaced with GI-protective medication, which aligned with a GI bleed related to the steroid rather than a primary ITP diagnosis. I reached out to Dr. Lightsey hoping for acknowledgment of the situation and to discuss the more than $2,000 in emergency costs that followed. Unfortunately, she declined my request for reimbursement and did not offer an apology. I left the experience feeling that my concerns were dismissed and not taken seriously. This was a deeply stressful and upsetting situation for me and my pet, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this clinic or Dr. Lightsey. She has been reported to the California veterinary medical board.

I tried our vet, who said that they would not be able to help, I also went to an "Emergency Center" who also was not able to see my dog. I then found Wave, the Doctor examined the dog to include bloodwork. They identified the problem and almost literally brought him back from the dead. Obi is now almost back to his old self and I should have my friend around for a while longer. I would enthusiastically recommend Wave to anyone who needs Vet service.

Unfortunately, the administrative side of our experience and the post-op care we received was very frustrating. We once drove an hour and a half to our scheduled appointment only to be told the doctor wasn't in and the office forgot to contact us to reschedule. After the dental cleaning, Mochi developed bad breath again. I reached out to the clinic and was told the doctor would prescribe antibiotics, but due to delays around the holidays, it took about three weeks for the prescription to be sent. During that time Mochi contracted Giardia and our local vet advised against giving additional antibiotics. Once he recovered, I tried to fill the original prescription, but Wave rejected it, saying it had expired. Even after explaining the situation , including that the delay wasn't in my control and the prescription was never filled, I was told I'd have to pay for another visit to get a new one. While Dr. Wavrick was compassionate during the initial visit, the lack of support and empathy with the prescription, the scheduling errors, prescription delays, and lack of flexibility left me disappointed, especially given how far we travel to come here. I can't say I will recommend Wave if you are looking for quality care for your beloved pets.
