We went to bed on Thursday night, knowing our by then 16yr old terrier needed to cross the rainbow bridge. I called the office Friday morning, very emotional. As always, the front office staff were amazing. Told me they were closing at noon, but they didn't want Penny to be hurting so they'd help her if we could bring her in before then. I was not able to, so had to find a different option, unfortunately. That Monday I received a call asking how things were, if they could help us. Definitely not something they had to do, or that I expected. I, (again tearfully), told them we had found another vet to take care of her, and that she was gone. They expressed extreme condolences, told me they'd be sure to tell Dr. Chan, and if we ever needed them again, they'd be there. A few days later I received a beautiful card with a handwritten, very personal note about caring for Penny during her long life, from Dr. Chan expressing his condolences. If we ever get another pet, I would not hesitate to use them.

We took Lucy to Animal Health Care for a check up and mouth care that resulted in her having to get some teeth extracted (she's 16). They were good in explaining everything upfront and were open to our questions with normal people answers. Post surgery was explained well and again questions were answered with compassion in detail. So we're doing well at 3 days post surgery. Last words...they're smart.

I got there at 10:47am and I was given a paper to fill out with her info and the lady in the front was asking more questions and then just told me to wait. I waited for a total of about 50 mins before they came to get here. They got her to the back around 11:35pm. I waited and until 12:20pm to be told They needed to keep her some more time to do some tests. I picked her up around 3:30pm. The ladies were nice and answered all the questions I had but the wait was a lot. I understand she was a new client but the main vet seemed overworked. It seems like there is only one vet for the entire office which seems like there is an understaffing issue. We had an ok experience overall. I would be willing to try this place one more time because of how knowledgeable and how well they explain things. It's just the wait and how long the visit took that really threw me off.

During that visit, a chewable flea treatment was recommended, and I purchased two doses. However, I was recently informed that because the practice has changed ownership, I am required to bring my dog in for a new exam at a cost of approximately $100 before flea medicine prescription for can be issued. When I questioned the necessity of another exam so soon after the previous one, I was told that the business was sold, and this is simply the new policy. Given that the dog was seen recently and had a complete workup, I should be able to get necessary flea medication. I don't believe I am asking for anything that out of the norm.. and it seems like it is all about the money.

I also was told ahead that their isn't a lot of workers so it was told me in advanced. I understood to mean not a lot of overhead that is why costs are cheaper here. As for me , it makes all the difference for me having my puppy's as my life line to be comfortable with a new Vet clinic and dr. my dogs weren't anxious at all at the initial visit. that tells me a lot! was told he needed a dental what that meant to me was teeth needed to be pulled not specified the details only that labs would be done and then i'd be contacted and to proceed from there... i had to call them was told was infection and yes teeth and ok for surgery . nothing abt a cleaning at that point but apparently that was a issue with insurance little issues with payment later on. Once I found out my ins wasn't going to pay needed records from elsewhere , I provided ins co and vet clinic... with records i was then sent a email stating how much ins co was to pay! we proceeded with scheduling surgery for my pups dental! after surgery we submitted claim to ins for the thousand dollars to pay clinic directly and they denied! I then had to dispute and for that they needed detailed surgery notes from vet clinic. with the help of staff and dr we got them the notes etc... at that point ins as only willing to pay 400$ total disappointment End result was we paid our deductible to clinic after ins was able to pay the remainder of what ins refused and the dr gave a discount . What matters most is my puppy is home with me and recovering . I suffer with anxiety and my dogs r elder years now only stress caused was that my insurance wasn't being cooperative after having puppy insurance since they were born. i carry two insurance policy's for them and either wanted to pay a dime! Thanks to Ashley dr jeff and andrew working with one insurance for details of surgery i at least for ins to pay a tiny amount.... in reality i have proof they sent me a hard copy stating they were paying $1,000 and did not! after we paid our deductible ... this clinic in my opinion handled it the best they could and offered me a discount thank goodness. I'm incredibly grateful for the communication i received for them helping me in this case it was giving me a clearer picture of what not to buy pet insurance for going forward having elder puppy's .... we purchase as emergency's as babies and expect they will cover as they age not realizing there is stipulations for elder dogs i'm better off saving a savings for my dogs from the start. lesson learned. thanks again to the staff at pet maintenance for the extra help with my pet insurance it was appreciated ! I should not have had to go thru what i went thru with insurance companies for them to both deny me having records and all! i recommended his facility just make sure to have good communication always not just with this business but in life! that's the only way any thing will ever get done and fairly. kindest regards and thanks to dr and staff . My respects, corina lacanlale xoxo from copper puppy thanks u too

When my diabetic dog lost his sight, I was frightened and knew very little about what blindness would mean for him and actually though I had to put him down. I needed clear information and reassurance. Instead, the veterinarian became upset and left the room. After that, an assistant was sent in to check my dog, and I was left to find answers on my own. I had been a loyal client for years, but after I missed an appointment because of my own health emergency, the clinic refused to see my dog. Now I'm unable to get the insulin prescription he needs and have been told to go to Santa Cruz, which isn't possible for me. A veterinary clinic should communicate with care, especially when a pet owner is scared and trying to make important decisions for their animal. I felt abandoned when I needed guidance, and now I'm struggling to get my dog's necessary medication. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this clinic.
