I first met and interviewed Erin Harty, SLP about 2 years ago, 7 months after my granddaughter was…read moreevaluated by the Riverside County Speech Pathologists at 32 months for services and deemed to have a "severe speech deficit and placed her verbal language at 18-24 months" yet because my granddaughter was almost 3 and scored extremely high on her cognitive tests they declined to provide services because she was attending a structured pre-school and said that the state would provide services if requested by her PCM. Long story short she was denied by the State of California and by Molina her insurance carrier. Her father and I were told that we should wait until she entered First Grade - my well articulated letters were either ignored or rubber stamped Denied. When I heard about Erin I just stopped by and she was gracious enough to give me as much time as I needed and answered all my questions. Unfortunately I did not have insurance to pay for speech therapy for my granddaughter so it was over a year before I could afford to pay for her therapy. We started speech therapy this past July(2015) most especially because of some repeated incidents of bullying and being made fun of for her speech impediments and difficulties-all at the age of 4-I couldn't wait for her to enter 1stGrade to start therapy! If people and children were cruel to her at 4 imagine in 2 more years! I remember my discussion with Erin and visited with her once again and she wanted to start with an evaluation. Jump forward to the evaluation-because it's difficult to understand her and because my granddaughter is also very intelligent it took 3 days to complete her evaluation! Through out Erin was so patient, found unique ways to communicate with her and knew how and when to be firm. It was found that she needed to come to speech therapy 3x a week, but because of circumstances we shortened it to 2x weekly. Every time my granddaughter goes to speech therapy she looks forward to seeing "Miss Erin". Erin finds a way to get through to her even on her bad days and she has the patience of a Saint. This profession requires patience, perseverance, a positive attitude and constant encouragement which Erin has in spades. From the beginning Erin stressed how important it is that family be involved and that practice is an integral part of the permanent learning process and encouragement is much better than being critical. As a Licensed Master Clinical Social Worker since 1997 I have worked with a plethora of professionals in varying disciplines and in all my years Erin is truly a rarity. I would and do recommend her to those who say they are looking for a speech pathologist. We went to visit our family in Ohio this past December and everyone was so shocked, surprised and so happy at how far my granddaughter has come along since July-just 6 months! It was music to both Erin and my ears because their objective opinion was proof of her expertise and our collaborative effort!!

My son has been getting speech therapy with Erin and Ms.Cat for the last six months and has showed…read moretremendous improvement, so much so that in that short timeframe he has met and/or surpassed his speech and learning milestones. He will be 3 in July and already knows the alphabet, animals, sounds, colors, shapes, can count to 100, speaks in full sentences, and the list goes on and on. We are only ending our speech sessions because he is starting preschool next week But I know he is prepared and ready because of all the help and support from Ms.Cat and Erin. I highly recommend them and tell everyone I know!

My son currently attends this location for "speech therapy". However since December of 2025 i have…read morerequested a call back from the general manager, JAMIE ,regarding concerns I have as a parent & have been continuously over looked. Again I received a call that my son's therapist will be leaving the practice & in the meantime no times are available except 3pm on Wednesdays (they have his availability & know 3pm on Wednesdays would not work). Since February of 2026, his doctors have requested he receive an additional session be added since my son is non-verbal & every time I have followed up the response is "availability must remain open for other patients". CLARISSA, the scheduling "manager" who is very passive, informed me if i did not want to schedule my son for an incoming therapist in August (WE ARE IN APRIL) then i am more than welcome to have him discharged. Mind you, we drive an hour to take him to be able to receive this support & multiple times we have arrived & there is no therapist for him, or the session was "canceled". The lack of communication & opportunity for a child is extremely sad. 0/5 stars

I had had radiation and chemotherapy treatment for tongue cancer. I consulted with Katie Hoops of…read moreMonterey Bay Speech Therapy to get a second opinion on my swallow and jaw exercises. Ms. Hoops was very helpful and explained the reason for my exercises as well as emphasizing the importance of my continuing the exercises on a long-term basis. I have heeded her advice. While in consultation with Ms, Hoops I also learned that she had experience working with deaf children. My family had been haranguing me for years to get my hearing tested and the results concluded that I had moderate hearing loss, but not sufficient loss for a hearing aid. However, I was not fully informed of the consequences of my hearing loss or provided an explanation of my testing chart. I made an appointment with Ms Hoops to go over the results of the test, I brought in my charts (which were greek to me) and she explained the test results, informed me of the sounds that are now difficult for me to hear and gave me suggestions regarding "training" family members and friends about how best to ensure that I hear their words. I am very happy to have found Ms. Hoops and Monterey Bay Speech Therapy.

Jocelyn Lagier helped me a lot with improving my foreign accent. I came to the U.S in the mid 90s…read moreand still have people looking at me sometimes and asking me to repeat what I just said... For professional reasons I have decided to reduce my accent or at least to make my speech more clear. Jocelyn firs evaluated the areas we need to work on, then created a personalized plan, and based on that she provided materials, advice, and lots of practice. Thanks to her patience and consistency I believe I made a nice progress. I became aware of certain ways I pronounced words that were confusing for the listeners - I didn't even know this was happening. Then she helped me fix those mistakes. I highly recommend working with Jocelyn. It was a great experience!

I had an incredibly upsetting and harmful experience with Jocelyn Lagier. She diagnosed my…read moredaughter, who was barely three years old at the time, with a severe speech disorder. Without my knowledge or consent, she sent this evaluation to the private school we were applying to--an action that directly resulted in my daughter being denied acceptance. This not only devastated us at the time but set off an entire year of emotional stress and confusion. Fast forward to a year later: after seeing multiple other speech therapists for second (and third) opinions, every single one has said the same thing--my daughter has no speech disorder. In fact, she doesn't even qualify for speech therapy at all. It's clear to me now that Jocelyn Lagier was more interested in keeping us on a path of ongoing, unnecessary therapy sessions--ultimately for financial gain. She was not warm, supportive, or collaborative. She did not listen to my concerns as a parent, and I truly believe she caused harm rather than helped. I'm writing this review because I don't want another family to go through what we did. If you're looking for a thoughtful, ethical, and child-centered speech therapist, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. This was a deeply painful and frustrating experience, and one I wouldn't wish on anyone.

We started seeing Francine when my daughter was about 1 1/2 years old and went once per week. Francine has a very routine/structured approach that I admire and has worked great for our family. Before seeing Francine routinely, it was very hard to understand my daughter. She could not properly pronounce her sounds/words and would get easily frustrated because I wasn't able to meet certain needs of hers. With the help of Francine, the "homework" and simple techniques she gave us, my daughter thrived! Fast forward 2 1/2 years later and my daughter is speaking fluently and is understood by me and other adults and her friends. We would not be where we are today without Francine's help and support she gave us. Unfortunately, we had to move due to my husbands job and were very sad to leave the speak-e-z family. If we ever find ourselves back in Monterey we will definitely go back to Francine because she is the best!
