I contacted this company to come and service our unit at our office back around the end of July…read more2020. They sent out a tech, who "serviced" the unit and reported to his boss that the unit was leaking at the service valve and he repaired it along with refilling the R-22. He did not explain to me what was the actual problem nor what he did to fix it. He just came back in the office to collect the payment for services rendered and to check if the air was blowing cold. The air blew fine for a few days and then returned to only blowing out hot air. My duties have me in and out of the office at all times and it was not until a few days later that I was able to have a chance to call their office and report that the unit was not working, blowing cold air. This is when I got a chance to speak with the "Boss." Not sure if I have the name correct but I believe it is Rolly or Romie. The conversation with him was less then productive and brimming with an unprofessional, aggressive, bully-like attitude that I had taken too long to call him about the "work" that was supposedly done. Pictures were taken and sent to me and he assured me that his tech did what the invoice stated was done and the fault lay with the unit itself being old and in need of being replaced. I had originally dealt with a sales rep named Walter who was professional, humble, and informative. He even sent proposals for options to replace the unit. When I asked to speak with Walter, instead of having to be spoken to as if I was the target of the school yard "bully," I was lied to and told that it was his off day when in fact, I had found out later, Walter had quit working for this company. I followed up with emails and only received more excuses and blame on the units age and that the tech would come out and check the unit again but, if he found any new issues we would be charged again for the service call and cost of repairs, if any. A family friend advised me that he, in fact, was a hvac tech and that he would come by and check the unit out. In short, he came out and looked the unit over and to my surprise found a leak, on of all things, the service valve and that the unit had no refrigerant. He made a video showing the leak, and showing that he did replace the valve and refilled the R-22. The air began to blow cold again and has been blowing cold since. He also discovered another leak that was also repaired with a quick weld. So if he found all these things, my question was, what did the Cool Running Air tech really do to my unit? Why did he not see the same leak that needed to be welded when he was working on the unit? I emailed Cool Running Air about this new revelation and the fact that the service valve was actually fixed this time and offered to send the videos I was provided. That email was sent on 8/12/20. As of the date of this writing, I have not received a response in any form. In closing, my soliloquy is to point out, in my opinion and first time experience with this "company," that they are dishonest and only concerned with praying on the lack of knowledge people have with hvac so that they can sell people like me new units. I would not recommend using this company unless you want to be strong armed into buying a new unit for your office space or your home. I usually do not write reviews, especially bad ones, but these guys left a real bad taste in my mouth and I had to share this experience with everyone to save someone from making the same mistake I made. I've never met Jose at JP. My wife met him at our home for the repair. With that said, book him for…read moreyour AC needs. He clearly explained our options and made really good recommendations. He did not try to push a new unit on us (the company that we had worked with for years didn't do any of this. It only wanted us to buy a new unit. We've come to learn that he was gatekeeping other options because he didn't want to be bothered or he wanted us to pick a solution that was more profitable for him). We took the repair option. It's been several weeks and things are running smoothly. We are aware that our 15 year old unit won't last forever and we'll have to pony up the $$$ for a new unit. However, having a pro take us through our options and carefully explain things to us was clutch. Ultimately, the service was great. His execution of the work was great (both the repair and the tune up work we needed). His price was very fair. We're not calling anyone else for our AC needs. He explained that the problem was the capacitor and he replaced it. The price was fair. I noticed that the water sensor for the a/c was on after they left, I texted him and he offered to immediately come look at it but I had to leave for work so we agreed for later that night. His associate came, used CO2 to clear the line and the a/c was working fine after that. He explained that the water sensor was a separate issue but they were doing it as a favor and didn't charge me this time to clear the line. I definitely would recommend and use him in the future.

Last night (always a weekend) the master bedroom air stopped cooling. I called Danny this morning and gave him the error codes from the thermostat. However, a half hour later he said he had found the part and would repair it today (well above and beyond normal service levels seen these days). After charging $1500 for parts and labor, they left my shower with two non working heads (they never even checked before leaving). The knob on the new piece immediately fell off the next day, and I had to have someone repair their shoddy work. In addition, I had them change a kitchen faucet. They did that, but left the pressure so high I get soaked from the backsplash (I later leaned to adjust the valves below the sink, and that fixed the issue). But it speaks volumes about their work! Unprofessional to the core! I'd recommend, run don't walk, to another plumbing company. I want to begin by pointing out that my impression of both Volar AC, and the company they…read moresubcontracted to do the work (Moses Express HVAC) both were honest, professional, and fair in their dealings. I don't believe either of these companies falls under the typical stereotype of "crooks" so common in the AC Duct cleaning industry, but there is a reason I docked this review by 1-star. In hindsight, I would chalk-up the inconvenience to a miscommunication between myself and Volar AC, and subsequently Volar AC and their subcontractor Moses AC My parent's AC had not been cleaned in ages and required a deep, deep clean to even make a dent. During my online chat with Volar AC, I explained the situation and was given a quote. To Volar's credit, they were the fastest to respond to my post, the fastest to provide a quote, and the fastest to show up by offering to work on Sunday. When Volar's sub-contracted technician showed-up (Moses AC), they were prepared to do the job they were specifically contracted for, without consideration for discussing the deeper clean that was actually needed. They did offer to up-sell the installation of a UV light and Mold Treatment, I declined because there was too great a gap between my expectations and the service provided. It is my opinion that there was a disconnect across the communication channel regarding what the needs of the job actually were, and what was ultimately subcontracted by my subcontractor to Moses AC (part of that is on me). The reason I hired this service was because I had dirty air ducts, dirty grills and dirty air conditioning coil. After this service was completed and paid for, I still had dirty air ducts, cleaner grills, and dirty air conditioning coil. The pictures speak for themselves- this is what my ducts and coil looked like AFTER the cleaning service. Overall, my recommendation would be to take the time to meet with the AC company when they go to your home and do the free inspection. I think that because we did this so quickly to setup the service we missed a step, so part of that is definitely on me. If you're looking for honest professional people, I do recommend them- just make sure you take the time to discuss the project scope in advance to ensure your expectations are met.
